The Weinstein Company has released the first No Escape trailer for Quarantine director John Erick Dowdle’s upcoming action thriller. Previously titled The Coup, the film stars Owen Wilson and Lake Bell as an American couple who become caught in the middle of a violent uprising after moving their family to Southeast Asia. Not only does the movie look bad, but it also seems fairly offensive. The whole thing appears to be staged as a horror movie (Dowdle also helmed Devil and As Above, So Below) with pretty white people on the run from Scary Foreign People. Pierce Brosnan shows up as a more rugged companion who will likely guide Wilson and Bell’s family to safety, and while the cast is solid, everything about this is discouraging—right down to the “dumping ground” early September release date. Brace for some “There Is No Escape from No Escape” review headlines later this year.

Anyway, watch the No Escape trailer below at your own risk. The film opens in theaters on September 2nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for No Escape:

An intense international thriller, NO ESCAPE centers on an American businessman (Wilson) as he and his family settle into their new home in Southeast Asia. Suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a violent political uprising, they must frantically look for a safe escape as rebels mercilessly attack the city.
