Darren Aronofsky was able to get Noah, his expensive biblical epic, picked up by Paramount and New Regency. However, before a studio came on board, Aronofsky was going the route he went with The Fountain where he was planning to release a graphic novel as a means to sell the film. Even though the movie now has a home, work continued on the comic (co-written by Ari Handel) and now the first volume has been released in Europe with new images and a trailer. I can’t read French, but it certainly looks epic and Nico Henrichon’s art is gorgeous.

Here’s the synopsis (translated from French):
It was a world without hope, a world with no rain and no crops, dominated by warlords and their barbarian hordes. In this cruel world, Noah was a good man. Seasoned fighter, mage and healer but he only wanted peace for him and his family. Yet every night, Noah was beset by visions of an endless flood, symbolizing the destruction of all life. Gradually he began to understand the message sent him by the Creator. He had decided to punish the men and kill them until the last. But he gave Noah a last chance to preserve life on Earth …
I love that Noah is a “mage”. There is a dearth of mages in modern cinema.

Gilgamesh.
So This:
Le Createur vit que mechancete de l’homme etait grande sur terre et il en fut afflige en son coeur .Mais noe trouva grace aux yeux de l’eternel. si ce que je vois est notre futur alors il a decide de detruire le monde. Je Dois les prevenir.
Translates to this:
The Creator saw that the wickedness of man was great on earth and it grieved him in his heart. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. What I see is our future so I have decided to destroy the world. I must warn thee.
So is this going to be animated?
Is this some kind of ”reimagining ” , or will there be an ark ?
We all saw what happened when arronofsky was given a big hollywood budget, an A list cast and he failed miserably now we are expecting him to take on a movie of this magnitude and succeed? This is a make or break movie for arronofsky, if it succeeds both critically and financially he would be able to get whatever he wants financed. If it bombs like the fountain then well, he will just be known as a art house director that can’t handle anything over 15 million bucks and make it intriguing and sell it to main stream audiences. Arronofsky is a decent director when he doesn’t over direct and try to put a billion different idea’s into one movie. This is one of the rare cases i think the studio should watch every move he’s doing.
Yeah. Aronofsky is a real hack. Good thing the ‘studio’ has you in its corner. Dipshit.
lmao merked his life.
LOL! <3 you're hilarious
What big budget failure are you referring to? Would it be the fountatin?
That was a really good movie but a lot was left on the cutting room floor from what I have heard.
He had a grand vision for the fountain and was rumored to be epically long like 3 hours but the Studio cut back the budget and run time.
He is a good filmmaker and I have enjoyed most of his work but I do question if he can make a studio movie with the restraints that come with it.
I hope he is not a 1 trick pony and knocks this out of the park.
Seasoned fighter? Mage? Healer?
What is wrong with following what is written? The Bible clearly states that Noah was a ‘farmer’. Also this comic looks apocalyptic and not antediluvian as the Bible and Biblical Historians have clearly laid out.
I hope they find a better director and producer such as Andrew Adamson and Michael Apted instead of Darren Aronofsky.
I can already see some retcons in the story. Noah was no mage, there were no 6 armed people in the Flood story line. There is nothing in the text to indicate that he was a seasoned fighter or a healer either.
I wonder if he will have dinosaurs and other megafauna on the movie. That would be controversial and we all know controversy sells (think The Passion of the Christ).
