We’ve seen a number of images from the set of director Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah thus far, giving us peeks at Russell Crowe as the titular hero and Logan Lerman in his period garb, but we’ve yet to see the film’s antagonist, Ray Winstone. That changes today, as the first images of Winstone’s character have landed online. We don’t know much about the role other than it’s that of Noah’s nemesis, but Winstone’s sporting some fairly bloody wounds so it appears that he gets into a skirmish of sorts at some point in the film. Liam Neeson and Liev Schreiber were reportedly considered for the role early on, but I think Winstone will make for a suitable baddie opposite Crowe.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Douglas Booth, Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas and Mark Margolis. Noah opens March 28, 2014. [Update: More set images have surfaced of Crowe, Booth, and Lerman and are included after the jump]
Here’s the synopsis for Noah:
NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO). Scott Franklin and Aronofsky of Protozoa Pictures, along with Mary Parent of Disruption Entertainment, will produce the film. The film will be executive produced by Ari Handel (BLACK SWAN), Arnon Milchan of New Regency and Chris Brigham (INCEPTION, ARGO).

I think Ray Winstone will make a fine nemesis. Honestly, I never saw Liam Neeson playing second fiddle/bad guy to Noah. If he wasn’t playing Noah himself, or God, Liam should not have been in this movie…!
Looking forward to this epic all the same…
An Old Testament story with no Jewish people?
Logan Lerman is Jewish
The characters in this movie are not Jewish. Jews did not exist at the time of Noah. Abraham hadn’t been born and accepted the Covenant yet.
As has been stated, Logan Lerman is Jewish. Also, Jennifer Connelly’s mother is Jewish, but they are not playing Jews.
