As you’ve probably surmised from the trailers and his filmography, Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah is going to be far from the clichéd image of a guy in sandals and a robe on a boat filled with animals. One of the overlooked parts of the biblical story is the “Nephalim” mentioned in Genesis 6:4. In a recent Tweet, Aronofsky revealed “just added the legend nick nolte as the watcher samyaza in #noah . long live the nephilim! it was an honor” Multiple interpretations of the Nephalim liken them to giants, and Nolte will be lending his voice to one of the supernatural creatures. I also assume that Watcher Samyaza will speak in a serious of grunts and belches.
Hit the jump to check out the image Aronofksy tweeted, which I assume has Watcher Samyaza on the editing screen in the background. The film also stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, and Anthony Hopkins. Noah opens March 28th.
Here’s the official logline for Noah:
