TBS has announced that it is developing a scripted comedy series based on Notorious B.I.G. a.k.a Biggie Smalls a.k.a. Christoper Wallace. But a comedy?Say what now? The series, called Think B.I.G., will focus on a desperate inner-city teen trying to create a better life for his children. Plots will be pulled (loosely) from Biggie's autobiographical lyrics, but again I say to you ... a comedy?

THR reports that the announcement is one of two projects TBS is working on with Mass Appeal,

"Storyville and Think B.I.G. speak to the types of projects we will cultivate with Mass Appeal moving forward," said Brett Weitz, executive vp original programming at TBS. "Mass Appeal is a leader in developing unique stories with diverse voices. There's no better partner for us to connect with this vibrant, impassioned audience."

The success of Fox's Empire (which has waned somewhat since its initial outing) has paved the way for other series about the world of hip hop, including Baz Lurhmann's The Get Down, coming soon to Netflix, as well as VH1's upcoming series The Breaks.

Think B.I.G. comes almost 20 years after the rapper was gunned down in Los Angeles, but it seems like a very odd way to commemorate the artist. We'll let you know more details about the series as they become available.
