One of the more exciting projects in development is an Ocean’s Eleven spinoff featuring an all-female cast. We previously reported that the film, directed by The Hunger Games’ helmer Gary Ross, will be led by Sandra Bullock, who will play the sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney). We also reported that Cate Blanchett was circling the film, and now according to Showbiz411 she’s on board along with Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Elizabeth Banks. We had also previously reported that Jennifer Lawrence was circling the project, but it now looks like her busy schedule will prevent her from getting in on the fun.

The film, which is currently going by the working title “Ocean’s Ocho” (meaning eight), could begin filming as early as this year, which would be great. They now have five of their eight, and I’m wondering what other talented actresses they could be angling to get on board.

As we previously reported, Blanchett will play the Rusty to Bullock’s Danny, and that alone could make for a fun dynamic. When you throw Carter, Kaling, and Banks into the mix, you have three more actresses who have shown time again how adept they are at comic timing, and I can’t wait to see who else joins the gang.

Carter was recently seen in Alice Through the Looking Glass and is currently filming the drama 55 Steps. Kaling can be seen on her TV series The Mindy Project. Banks will be seen in theaters next year as Rita Repulsa in the Power Rangers movie, and reprising her role as Gail in Pitch Perfect 3, which opens at Christmastime.
