The female-led Ocean's 11 spinoff Ocean's 8 has finally lined up a villain with the James Bond fan casting favorite Damian Lewis. The actor has been spotted on the Manhattan sets of the film (along with some stunning costume work for the female band of thieves) and Variety has confirmed Lewis will take on the role as the film's central antagonist who comes up against Sandra Bullock and her band of thieves. Lewis will reportedly play Bullock's ex-lover and the target of her heist.

Lewis is best known for his television roles on Homeland, Band of Brothers and Wolf Hall (or perhaps for his constant placement on those James Bond casting lists), and currently stars in the Showtime series Billions, which returns for its second season in February. Earlier this year, he appeared in the John Le Carre espionage thriller Our Kind of Traitor and Werner Herzog's period drama Queen of the Desert.

Lewis will be squaring off against a formidable female cast director Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) has assembled for his heist actioner. Bullock stars as the ringleader alongside Cate Blanchett as her right-hand man. Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter, also star Ocean's 11 headliner Matt Damon .is set to have a cameo.

Ocean’s 11 director Steven Soderbergh returns to produce with Susan Ekin executive producing. Eigil Bryld (In Bruges) is on board as director of photography. Ross is writing the script alongside Olivia Milch (Dude), and while little is known about the story of the caper reboot, early reports suggest it centers around a heist at the New York Met Gala.

Oceans 8 is currently in production in New York City and Warner Bros. has set the release date for June 8, 2018.
