Olivia Thirlby (The Wackness) has been cast as Cassandra Anderson in Pete Travis’s adaptation of the comic series Judge Dredd. Anderson is a young telepath who shadows Dredd (played by Karl Urban). In the comics, Anderson was spun-off into her own series, Anderson: Psi-Division [thanks, Wikipedia!]. Variety reports that shooting is slated to begin this year in South Africa.
As we previously reported, Dredd will be in 3D and from a script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later). Steve spoke with Urban at Comic-Con and learned that Dredd will always keep his helmet on and that it was Urban’s understanding “that it going to be harder, grittier, and above all faithful to the comic.”
