Someone pinch me. I have to be day-dreaming. Or is it night-dreaming? How old is Olvia Wilde? Certainly not old enough to be Justin Timberlake’s mother. In fact, after looking them up, Timberlake is actually three years Wilde’s senior. However, that hasn’t stopped Wilde signing on to play Timberlake’s mom in Andrew Niccol’s upcoming thriller that was previously titled I'm.mortal (via TheWrap). The film, which is setup at New Regency with 20th Century Fox distributing, had been titled I’m.mortal, but let’s face the music. That’s a ridiculous title to sell as anything, let alone as a film. Sounds more like a rapper’s name, so it is good that they distanced themselves from it. Timberlake and Wilde will be rejoining with Amanda Seyfried, who they previously co-starred with in Alpha Dog.
The background is that the thriller takes place in a society where people stop aging at 25 and time has become a currency. Apparently, the rich people are immortal, while the poor have a hard time surviving. Will (Timberlake) is one of those poor people, and tries to help his ailing mother (Wilde). When he is accused of murdering a rich man for his time, he goes on the run with a hostage (Seyfried) in tow. Cillian Murphy plays a “time keeper,” who are basically the law of time in the society, and along with Collins Pennie, they go after Will. Vincent Kartheiser, 31, will actually play the father of Seyfried (24), which is an age difference I am slightly more comfortable with. I said slightly.
Sounds like a big-budget film where Wilde has a small role, which is good because she is a busy woman. Already on the hit TV show House, she will appear next in Tron: Legacy and she just finished wrapping Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens and The Weinstein Company’s Butter. Additionally, she will star in the comedy The Change-Up with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman.
