Less than two weeks after first opening in theaters, Sony Pictures is releasing an extended “fan cut” of director Morgan Spurlock’s concert documentary One Direction: This Is Us. The new cut, which is titled One Direction: This Is Us – Extended Fan Cut, will be released in theaters this coming Friday, September 13th and will boast an additional 20 minutes of new footage and four songs not previously in the movie. CULVER CITY, Calif., September 9, 2013 – In response to the fan support at the box office for TriStar Pictures’ hit film One Direction: This Is Us, the studio is releasing an extended cut of the film, in theaters this Friday, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, Chairman, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures. One Direction: This Is Us – Extended Fan Cut will feature 20 minutes of new footage and four songs not previously in the movie. The film has taken in an estimated $50 million worldwide since opening.
Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, “We’re overwhelmed by the response to the film, so we’re thrilled to be able to release this extended cut of the film for One Direction fans.
