First Trailer for ONE FOR THE MONEY Starring Katherine Heigl and Jason O’Mara

     September 23, 2011

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for One for the Money, the feature debut of the Stephanie Plum character created by Janet Evanovich.  Katherine Heigl plays Plum: “Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company… as a recovery agent.”  It’s not my cup of tea, but it doesn’t appear completely charmless if you’re one of those mythical viewers who can tolerate Katherine Heigl.  And hey, Jason O’Mara looks like he’s having fun.  Faint praise!

Daniel Sunjata, John Leguiziamo, Debbie Reynolds, and Debra Monk also star in the January 27, 2012 release, directed by Julie Anne Robinson.  Watch the trailer after the jump.

Yahoo has the trailer in HD.

Official synopsis:

Katherine Heigl brings Stephanie Plum – the popular heroine of Janet Evanovich’s worldwide best-selling sixteen-book mystery series – to vibrant life in Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment’s ONE FOR THE MONEY.

A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum’s got plenty of attitude, even if she’s been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company…as a recovery agent. True, she doesn’t even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn’t stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny’s biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli – yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.

Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback – and a hefty payday – but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger, a hunky colleague who’s the best in the business, she also realizes the case against Morelli isn’t airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself…well, suddenly Stephanie’s new job isn’t nearly as easy as she thought.

Starring Katherine Heigl, ONE FOR THE MONEY is a fresh, funny action-comedy directed by Julie Anne Robinson and also starring Jason O’Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguiziamo, Debbie Reynolds and Debra Monk. Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment present a Lakeshore Entertainment Lionsgate Wendy Finerman production in association with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment Abishag Productions. Directed by Julie Anne Robinson. Screenplay by Stacy Sherman & Karen Ray and Liz Brixius. Based on the novel by Janet Evanovich.

Sorry but I cant understand anyone who doesnt like Heigl. She is gorgeous, fun, charming and lights up the screen. Her movies havent always been great but she is always the best thing about them. The picture you guys and the press have painted of her is totally over the top. I can’t think of an actor who gets more crap for doing pretty much nothing wrong than she does.

I respect that you love your daughter, Mrs. Heigl. But she’s made bad choices recently, and has adopted a grating screen presence.

      And her face is stupid.

      • Kim

I love Katherine Heigl…she will make an EXCELLENT Stephanie Plum, can’t wait to see it.

    • Tenebrous

Miriam, eat your keyboard. You’re obviously trolling or one of those studio plants that strangley believes attacking those who show disdain for Heigl will somehow affect the films revenue.

    • Kim

I agree with you, I love Katherine Heigl..a fantastic actress and she won the peoples choice awards last year for that very title. Best Actress = People’s Choice Awards….she is awesome!

  • Terry

I hate katherine Heigl! She is an arrogant little bitch. She hated on the folks from Grey’s anatomy and talked shit about the folk from Knocked Up.
She can go to hell. I’ll never see another movie with her in it.

    • Dean

Wow, hate all women Terry or just the ones who dare to speak in public?

  • Joanne

I have read EVERYTHING in the Stephanie Plum series and although I am not a Katherine Heigl fan (She left a bad taste during Grey’s) I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because I love all of these characters so much. The casting looks great and my girl, Sherri is playing Lula? I am so excited about this. It had better be good!!!

  • Bruce Whitewood

Katherine Heigl is really stunning and very talented. She is incredible and she is amazing. It’s an exceptional performance, just wonderful.

I saw this trailer before Drive last night. I don’t mind Heigl at all but this movie really doesn’t look any different from some of her other stuff.

  • Sam

Ahh! I can’t wait! My favorite part is Morelli saying “see you later CUPCAKE!!” So funny and Jason O’Mara makes a much better Morelli than I thought he would. Love the books and the movie looks great.

  • Eric Nixon

Hooray! I was waiting to see what the next Katherine Heigl bomb would be.

  • Sotos

Didn’t we all hated this movie with two Alisters a couple of years ago? I know that Heigel is much better than Aniston but I can’t see a man better than Gerry here.

  • Kim

I love Katherine Heigl, she will make an excellent Stephanie Plum, haven’t watched the trailer, I’m at work, but I will…I hope Ranger and Morelli are as hot as they appear to be in the books.

  • Jordan
