The teaser for Tony Jaa’s newest action movie, Ong Bak 3 is online and in high-def [via 24 Frames].  And it’s awesome.  Fans of the series should know that the first and second movie have very little in common story-wise and it looks as if the third may follow that pattern as well so you probably don’t need much familiarity with the other two to enjoy this movie.  No experience is required to like the teaser, though being able to read Thai wouldn’t hurt.  Judging by the teaser, Ong Bak 3 is going to have all the elements that make Tony Jaa movies so awesome.  There’s intricately choreographed fights, improvised weapons, and mass amounts of ass-beating, which at points are elephant-assisted.  Plus, there appears to be a scene where Jaa fights himself, presumably because he’s killed everyone else.

Ong Bak 3 is slated for a May release.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Ong Bak 3:

The legend of Ong Bak 3 begins after Tien (Tony Jaa) has lost his fighting skills and his beloved stepfather at the Garuda’s Wing cliff from the raid led by Jom Rachan (Saranyu Wonggrajang). Tien is brought back to life with the help from Pim (Primrata Dechudom) as well as Mhen (Petchai Wongkamlao) and the Kana Khone villagers. Deep into the meditation taught by Phra Bua (Nirutti Sirijanya), Tien finally is able to achieve ‘Nathayut’. His talents are put to the test again when his rivals including the Golden-Armored King’s Guard (Supakorn ‘Tok’ Kijusuwan), the mysterious killers in black, and Bhuti Sangkha (Dan Chupong) return for the final massive showdown.

This film taakes place immediately following the second. Even people who have never seen them can at least connect the two, so I dont understand why you stated that they'll have little to do with each other. Also, he doesnt fight himself. At the end of Ong Bak 2 a bird dude beats the shit out of him, and at first i thought Tony Jaa was portraying him as well but turns out its not, its a different actor… you know the whole deal with all asians looking alike. No, this wont go the light vs dark side of a guy fighting himself. Its two different dudes settling a rematch.
