At last we left them, the inmates of Litchfield Correctional Institution were getting over the tremendous damage inflicted by Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) on the entire hub of inmates, while Toussant's character enjoyed one last taste of freedom. There's very little we know about season 3 thus far aside from the fact that both Lori Petty and Mary Steenburgen will have recurring roles, and Laura Prepon's troublesome Alex will make her return to Litchfield to face Piper (Taylor Schilling). And in the run-up to the season 3 premiere, Netflix has announced the renewal of Orange is the New Black for a 4th season, with creator Jenji Kohan still at the helm of the breakout hit series. Considering that we don't know who will make it out of season 3 alive as is, there's little to say about season 4, other than the minor comfort that whatever happens in the upcoming season won't be the last word on Litchfield.

On top of the announcement, Netflix has released a brand new shiny clip to tease the goings on at Litchfield in season 3. The new clip features Tasha (Danielle Brooks) talking down Poussey (Samira Wiley) and Suzanne (Uzo Aduba) - a.k.a. Crazy Eyes - in the wake of Vee's escape. What's most heartening about the clip is seeing Brooks's character, as much the center of Orange is the New Black as Piper is at this point, confidence and sense of leadership growing after all the manipulation she suffered at the hands of Vee. At the very least, the previewed scene suggests that things are not simply hunky-dory after the chaos that ended season 2, and that there are plenty of new wounds to tend to, even as the old ones still have fresh bandages on them.

Orange is the New Black Season 3 premieres Friday, June 12th, on Netflix. Watch the new season 3 clip below:
