The idea of a horror movie inspired by a Ouija Board never really sounded like a great idea, but now the very first Ouija trailer is here and sadly, it confirms it.  The film marks Stiles White’s feature directorial debut and involves a group of friends using a Ouija Board to contact Debbie (Shelley Henning), another friend who just passed.  Turns out, Debbie’s death was no accident.  She started messing with a Ouija Board she found and the thing killed her.

We get horror movies about folks contacting spirits all the time, but what could have (and should have) made Ouija a standout is using the familiar board game in a nostalgic manner, just like Phil Lord and Christopher Miller did with The Lego Movie.  Just having your leads sit at a table in a dark house with the board won’t do that, especially when they’re also being drowned in genre clichés as well.  Ouija is due in theaters on October 24th and stars Olivia Cooke, Daren Kagasoff, Douglas Smith, Bianca Santos and Ana Coto.  Hit the jump to catch the new trailer, poster and images.
