With director Guillermo del Toro’s trailer for Pacific Rim making a big splash recently, we thought we’d put together a collection of screengrabs for you to enjoy. The trailer comes in at a little over two minutes, but features a variety of characters: human, robot and monster alike. We’ve got great looks at the Jaegers Gipsy Danger, Crimson Typhoon, Cherno Alpha and what may be either the Striker Eureka or Coyote Tango. There’s also plenty of detailed shots of the mech pilots in their suits for all you Comic-Con attendees/cosplay fans.

Starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman, Pacific Rim opens in 3D on July 12, 2013. Hit the jump to check out the images.

Here’s the official synopsis for Pacific Rim:

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end.  To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.  But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.  On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.  Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

  1. @static so because del Toro’s movies don’t do well at the box office you aren’t going to see his movie? That’s a good reason…

    Also seriously? Battleship 2?

  2. Looks good. Hopefully the rest of the components are of equal quality (writing, casting, etc.).

This movie proves we can make a battletech (mechwarrior) film now right? Right? Please?

  3. As interesting as this film looks to be, I’m happy that filmmakers have decided to pick up the ball again after the amusing “Robot Jox” movie. Please, one-up it!
