Start the countdown. The long-awaited fourth season of Arrested Development will premiere on Netflix on May 4, 2013. For those who don’t know, all of season four will premiere at once rather than one new episode per week. Don’t worry about having to call in sick. May 4th is a Saturday, so gather your friends, have a marathon, and taste the happy.
Titles for all 14 episodes have also been revealed, and as we previously reported, each episode is named after a character. Michael, George Sr., Lindsay, George Michael, and Gob will all get two-part episodes; strangely, Part 2 of “Gob” takes place five episodes after the first part. Sadly, there is no episode devoted to Franklin. Hit the jump for the full episode list. [Update HitFix's Daniel Fienberg says a Netflix rep has reached out to say that the May 4th premiere date is inaccurate. No official date has been set.]

If you have sometimes wished that the fake TV shows referenced in real TV shows were themselves real, then Netflix is making your Christmas dreams come true. Hitching their cart to their upcoming revival of Arrested Development as the savior of all things Netflix, the purveyor of online streaming and DVDs through the mail has recently added a swath of fake entertainment referenced in the show, including Caged Wisdom: Musings from Prison, Girls With Low Self-Esteem: Orlando, and of course the film Les Cousins Dangereux. Hit the jump for the full descriptions of each that Netflix has included.

I fully appreciate the irony of this sentence, but the fourth season of Arrested Development has paused production on the revived series’ new episodes. Though Netflix had originally ordered a ten-episode run for the comedy, creator Mitch Hurwitz ended up shooting additional footage and dreaming up enough material for more scenes and storylines. Deadline reports that Netflix agreed to expand the order to somewhere between 12 and 15 total episodes. Production has paused to allow Hurwitz to review the footage that’s already been shot and work the new arcs into the season. It will also take some time to wrangle the actors for the additional shoots, so plans are for production to start up again in late January. This should still allow time for the show’s debut in April, when Netflix plans to make all of the episodes available at once.

The first official image from the new season of Arrested Development has been released. Just last week we learned that Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter had joined the growing list of guest stars that will be making appearances in the new episodes, and this official image shows O’Brien and Richter alongside Jason Bateman. The two presumably play versions of themselves, as it appears that the scene in question takes place backstage at Conan.
Additionally, though we had previously known that the new episodes would be available on some undetermined date in spring 2013, The Film Stage reports that they’ll be released all at once on Netflix in April. Hit the jump to check out the image.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the resurrection of Arrested Development when the show returns with new episodes on Netflix early next year, and creator Mitch Hurwitz is making damn sure the wait hasn’t been in vain. In addition to the return of the entire cast, we already have confirmation that series favorites Judy Greer, Henry Winkler, Scott Baio, Mae Whitman, Jeff Garlin, Liza Minnelli, and most recently Carl Weathers (baby you got a stew going!) are returning. Now comes word that a couple of welcome newcomers will pop up in the new batch of episodes: Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter [Edit: I somehow forgot that Richter appeared in the episode "S.O.B.s" during the show's third season].
AD star Will Arnett appeared on Conan last night, and during the segment he revealed that O’Brien and Richter will appear in the new season. No word on whether they’ll be playing themselves or characters, but either way this is very good news. Hit the jump to watch Arnett’s appearance on Conan. The new season of Arrested Development will premiere on Netflix in Spring 2013.

Arrested Development was a pretty strong series right from the start, but when it started throwing in strange guest stars like Carl Weathers, the show began to morph into something really special. We saw the show’s versatility in how it could take Hollywood Squares-level celebrities, and still play off a vague sense of familiarity but with enough room to be strange and satirical. Some series make that one aspect the entire basis for the comedy, but it’s just one of many tricks in the show’s bag (I’m sorry, “illusions” in the show’s bag). Thankfully, Carl Weathers and his financial wisdom will be returning for the show’s upcoming fourth season. “All the old friends are back. Carl Weathers is back,” David Cross told Vulture last night.
The old friends returning for the fourth season also include Judy Greer, Henry Winkler, Scott Baio, Mae Whitman, Jeff Garlin, and Liza Minnelli. There’s still no word on Justin Grant Wade (Steve Holt!). Arrested Development will premiere on Netflix in spring 2013. Hit the jump if you didn’t understand the headline of this article.

Henry Winkler is a man of many talents. Most widely known for his acting resume (Happy Days, The Waterboy), Winkler has also doubled as director, producer, children’s novelist, amateur photographer and even – fly fisherman. In this weekend’s Here Comes The Boom, he adds another notch to his tally: composer. Winkler costars in the picture as Marty Streb, the idealistic music teacher of a flailing high school. When the school is forced to cut its budget, Marty’s job is put into jeopardy and his continued employment rests on the slovenly shoulders of a disgruntled co-teacher (Kevin James). Winkler injects Marty with a real wide-eyed sense of innocence and warm-hearted genteelness. In the actor’s hands, Marty’s bizarre behavior not only feels real, but more so – earned. Even more impressive than the performance: Winkler conducted the film’s own musical set pieces himself.
In the following interview with Henry Winkler, he discusses his newfound job as conductor, his penchant for amateur photography and his role on the new season of Arrested Development. For the full interview, hit the jump.

Opening this weekend is Julian Farino’s The Oranges. The film is about two families who are best friends and neighbors- until one of the daughters (Leighton Meester) begins an affair with her father’s best friend (Hugh Laurie), and the comical and emotional aftermath of that affair. The all-star cast includes Catherine Keener as Laurie’s wife who finds a new purpose in life, Allison Janney and Oliver Platt as Nina’s bewildered parents and Alia Shawkat as Laurie’s daughter- and Nina’s former best friend turned arch rival. It also stars Adam Brody and up-and-comer Sam Rosen.
At the recent New York City press junket, I was able to speak to Alia Shawkat and Adam Brody about their breakfast preferences, the film itself, their characters, working with an ever-present screenwriting team, and the other projects that they have been and will be working on. Since becoming an actor at age 11, Alia Shawkat has always been known for her intelligent and sarcastic characters, and this time her stint as Vanessa in Julian Farino’s The Oranges is no exception. Vanessa is the narrator of the story, and the daughter of David and Paige Walling (Hugh Laurie and Catherine Keener, respectively), who’s across the street neighbors Terry and Cathy Ostroff (Oliver Platt and Allison Janney) are more like family than friends. They live in a suburban bubble that holds a comfortable, if not happy existence. When the Ostroff’s daughter Nina (Leighton Meester) returns, she and David find themselves strangely attracted to one another. The Oranges tells the story of the aftermath of their affair, and how the families must pick up the pieces and deal with the fact that though unconventional, they may need to accept being different to be happy. (Also starring Adam Brody as Vanessa’s brother Toby).
During an exclusive interview with Shawkat at the press junket for The Oranges in New York City, she talked about beating out Ellen Page for the role, what her original audition was like, scenes that got cut from original versions of the script and why she likes the current ending of the film better than the original. She also discussed her tendency toward playing “quirky” characters and the atmosphere on this close-knit set. Finally, she told me all about being back on Arrested Development, which is currently shooting another season. I got the low-down on some of the differences between film and TV, what it’s like to work with all the same people after a 6 year hiatus, and she tells me about the strangeness of watching herself and Michael Cera onscreen while sitting next to him. She also discusses her painting career, and how fans can check out some of her work and gallery shows.

Though series creator Mitch Hurwitz has stayed mum on many of the plot details regarding the upcoming revival of Arrested Development, he recently spoke to Vulture about the show, and revealed a few “spoilers” (brace yourselves for the big reveal: “Michael walks through a door”). He also claimed to own Ron Howard body and soul, and can force him to do whatever he wants (like come back to narrate the show). For more about the emotions and excitement on set to bring this great series back, plus other tidbits from the interview, hit the jump.

It looks like the Bluth family is still going to need a lawyer, as Henry Winkler is set to return to Arrested Development in the revived series which will appear on Netflix. The movie rental company went a long way to restore good will with the public when they picked up the cult favorite for what will be the fourth season with at least ten new episodes. Perhaps they had some legal counsel from Barry Zuckerkorn (Winkler) on how best to handle their previous faux pas. No word yet on if Bob Loblaw (Scott Baio) will lob any law bombs. Hit the jump for a quote from Winkler on rejoining Arrested Development.

Yesterday, we reported the exciting news that the fourth season of Arrested Development might be thirteen episodes instead of its originally-announced ten-episode order. The upcoming season will premiere on Netflix, and today an unnamed spokesperson for the company tells The Huffington Post that the Bluths will return in spring 2013. That seems like a reasonable window since filming is already underway. However, the spokesperson also provided another exciting tidbit: the new season will be at least ten episodes, which lends further credence to David Cross‘ comment that he thinks season four will have thirteen episodes.
Hit the jump for more.
