We’ve grown pretty familiar with John McClane (Bruce Willis) over the course of the twenty-five-year Die Hard franchise, but the next installment will introduce some new faces.  In A Good Day to Die Hard,  Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher) will get in on the action as McClane’s son, Jack, and Yuliya Snigir (Inhabited Island) will play Irina, the…uh…attractive Russian woman, a role which she plays quite well.  Directed by John Moore (Max Payne), the fifth installment in the Die Hard series also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Thing) as McClane’s daughter, Lucy.  We’ve got 16 new images from the movie to share with you after the jump.

New TV Spot for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD Confirms R Rating

Just yesterday we brought you the good news that A Good Day to Die Hard would be rated R.  Today, a new TV spot for the John Moore film, the fifth in the Die Hard series, confirms that rating.  The commercial doesn’t show much in the way of new footage, especially if you’ve already seen the previously released TV spots, but there is, of course, a new one-liner.

Starring Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14th.  Hit the jump to watch the new TV spot.

Yippee Ki-Yay Motherfucker! A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD is Rated R!

by     Posted 1 year, 224 days ago

good day to die hard bruce willis

Why is John McClane (Bruce Willis) smiling? Because our sources have informed us that A Good Day to Die Hard is rated R!  This means that McClane and son (Jai Courtney) are about to go apeshit on a bunch of Russian criminals and are free to curse as loud as they want and shed as much blood as possible along the way.  Fans had been a little worried that director John Moore’s picture, the fifth in the Die Hard series, would be rated PG-13 like its predecessor, Live Free or Die Hard.  Rest assured that the new film should look a lot more like the originals if the R rating is any indication.

Also starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14th.  Hit the jump to watch the most recent trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard.

New Trailer for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD Starring Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney

Fox has released a new trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard.  Usually at this point, the trailers begin to reveal the basic plot (and some go too far and reveal the whole movie).  However, the fifth Die Hard is a little over a month away, and I still don’t know what the plot is beyond “McClane n’ Son fight bad Russians.”  The Die Hard movies have never been complex, but the villain always has a clear motive, so we know what John McClane is trying to stop.  I think the bad guy in this movie wants nukes or something, but even that seems kind of vague.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Sebastian Koch, Yulia Snigir, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Anne Vyalitsyna, and Mary Elizabeth WinsteadA Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14th.

Fox has released the first TV spot for A Good Day to Die Hard.  Like the trailer, the thirty-second commercial features a bunch of quick cuts set to “Ode to Joy.”  It is a nice, distinctive hook for the marketing campaign to keep things fresh for the fifth entry of the Die Hard series that finds John McClane (Bruce Willis) and his CIA operative son (Jai Courtney) teaming up in Russia to stop a nuclear weapons heist.

Sebastian Koch, Yulia Snigir, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Anne Vyalitsyna, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead also star in the sequel directed by John MooreA Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14, 2013.  Watch the TV spot after the jump. [Update: 20th Century Fox has now released a second TV spot, which is included after the jump.]

New Poster for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD; Film Set for IMAX Release [Updated with Featurette]

A new poster for the upcoming fifth film in the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard, has been released online.  The story takes place in Moscow and sees Bruce Willis’ John McClane teaming up with his estranged son (Jai Courtney) to take on some Russian baddies.  This tagline-free poster is simple, as it just features McClane Sr. and McClane Jr. holding some big guns and mean muggin’.  Embedded in this poster, though, is the news that this will be the first Die Hard film to get the IMAX treatment, so fans will get the chance to see some really, really big explosions.  The film’s first trailer was pleasantly surprising, so hopefully director John Moore delivers the goods when the full film hits theaters.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The film also stars Sebastian Koch, Yulia Snigir, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Megalyn EchikunwokeAnne Vyalitsyna, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.  A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14, 2013. [Update: We've updated the article with a new featurette focusing on Jai Courtney that includes some new footage.]

A new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released for the upcoming Die Hard sequel, A Good Day to Die Hard.  The story takes place in Moscow and sees Bruce Willis’ John McClane teaming up with his estranged son (Jai Courtney) to take on some Russian baddies.  In this featurette, Courtney talks about how it’s fun to work with Bruce Willis and how the movie will be a blast.  We’re still a few months away from the film’s release date, so it’s likely we’ll get another featurette that’s a little meatier than “actor enjoys film he’s working on.”

New Trailer for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

Following on the heels of a new poster and image, a new trailer has been released for John Moore‘s A Good Day to Die Hard.  If you were unaware that the Die Hard franchise is a series of action movies, this trailer will be quite an education.  In fact, there’s very little to identify the film beyond “It has action.”  It seems like after Die Hard with a Vengeance, there’s a misunderstanding about what a Die Hard movie is: John McClane (Bruce Willis) getting the ever-loving shit kicked out of him, wise-cracks, and swearing. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re stuck with the new movies being rated PG-13 from now on, so that’s a third out of the equation.  Also, there was always some ability to suspend disbelief that a person could live through the stunts.  I don’t know if that will be present in the series’ fifth installment, but there’s certainly a lot of McClane and his son (Jai Courtney) jumping through panes of glass.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Sebastian Koch, Yulia Snigir, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Anne Vyalitsyna, and Mary Elizabeth WinsteadA Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14, 2013.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead Talks SMASHED, THE SPECTACULAR NOW, CHARLIE SWAN, and A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

by     Posted 1 year, 317 days ago

The indie dramedy Smashed follows Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Charlie (Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul), a young married couple who prefer to drink than deal with their own demons. But, when Kate’s drinking puts her job as a school teacher in jeopardy, it scares her into wanting to join AA and get sober. Directed by James Ponsoldt, he film also stars Octavia Spencer, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman and Mary Kay Place.

At the film’s press day, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead spoke to Collider for this exclusive interview about why she wanted to make an independent film, what attracted her to this specific project, the research she did for the role, finding the awkward humor, and how important it was that her character did not just have an easy road to recovery. She also talked about re-teaming with Ponsoldt for The Spectacular Now, what attracted her to A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III, and going to Budapest for A Good Day to Die Hard. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

TOP 5: A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD Trailer, TAKEN 2, SKYFALL, FRANKENWEENIE, GOLDENEYE 007 and Other Video Games That Should Get HD Remakes

collider-top-5-slice

If you’ve followed the Top 5 for any amount of time you’ve probably already deduced that I like to use the opening paragraph in an anecdotal fashion. Whether I’m spinning a recap of my latest pop-culture excursions or using the latest wedding I’m attending as a gateway for complaining about the pop-culture excursions I’d rather be partaking of, I try and keep this space at least loosely based around entertainment. That said, this week is no different as I finally had the chance to sit down with writer/director David Ayer‘s End of Watch last night. I won’t do the film the disservice of reviewing it in two sentences, but I will say that I found Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña‘s chemistry to be excellent and the action to be consistently suspenseful/captivating. Is the script’s attempt to tie nearly every encounter the partner’s undertake into an interconnected climax a little bit of a stretch? I think so. Nevertheless, End of Watch is still a cop drama that pushes almost all of the right buttons.

But enough of my reviews in 100 words or less, in this week’s trek down memory lane is the first official image and trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard, Taken 2 interviews with Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen and more, a recap of all our James Bond / Skyfall coverage from the past week, Frankenweenie interviews with Tim Burton, Winona Ryder and more, and finally a look at some classic video games that we feel deserve an HD remake.

First Trailer for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

The first trailer for the sequel A Good Day to Die Hard has been released.  The story takes place in Moscow and sees Bruce Willis’ John McClane teaming up with his estranged son (Jai Courtney) to take on some Russian baddies.  The new trailer doesn’t elaborate on the story, but it does show off plenty of action, which is probably a good idea considering this is a Die Hard movie.  I still can’t bring myself to get on board with a PG-13 Die Hard film, and I don’t know what director John Moore will bring to the project, but this is a fun trailer, and I especially like the remixing of “Ode to Joy”.
