We spent a good deal of the summer dumping ice on our heads to help support the fight against ALS and come October 10th, we’ll get to see what the $115 million raised is aiming to cure in George C. Wolfe’s You’re Not You.  Hilary Swank leads as Kate, a poised and successful classical pianist who’s suddenly stricken with ALS.  After a lifetime of perfection and independence, Kate has no choice, but to rely on a caregiver, Emmy Rossum’s Bec.

With You’re Not You making its way towards an October 10th theatrical and VOD debut, we’ve got the opportunity to share a brand new featurette for the film.  Watching Kate’s flawless existence unravel is especially devastating, but the relationship with Bec that results is as charming and heartwarming as they come.  Hit the jump to check it out for yourself in our exclusive You’re Not You featurette.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW Season Premiere Recap: “Monsters Among Us”

The moment the American Horror Story season 4 circus/freak show rumor started circulating, it was obvious; it’d be a genius new setting for the series.  The show isn’t really known for its sound storylines, but if you let loose and embrace its dedication to going bigger than big, taking eccentric characters and throwing them into wildly bizarre situations, it’s an endlessly entertaining watch.  If Murder House, Asylum and Coven were too much for you, you’d better change the channel, cancel your DVR recording or delete the digital copy immediately.  But, if you dug the first three seasons and have your fingers crossed for even more over-the-top behavior, deeply disturbing scenarios and highly unusual characters, you’ll likely get your wish because based on the premiere episode, it looks as though American Horror Story: Freak Show is going to exceed all hopes and expectations.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY FREAK SHOW Featurette: Meet the Actor Playing Paul the Illustrated Seal

FX has always done a killer job marketing American Horror Story, but this new “Extra-Ordinary Artists” series might be my favorite yet.  We shared the promo about Rose Siggins who portrays Legless Suzy and now we’ve got one for the actor playing Paul the Illustrated Seal, Mat Fraser, and it’s equally remarkable.

Like Suzy, Paul isn’t one of the most prominent characters on the show, but he’ll undoubtedly catch your eye the moment the new season kicks off on Wednesday, October 8th at 10pm, and not because he has a condition called Phocomelia, but rather because he’s got a charming and very commanding on-screen presence.  Hit the jump to learn more about Fraser in the latest American Horror Story: Freak Show featurette.

THE NEWSROOM Season 3 Trailer and Poster: Final Episodes of Aaron Sorkin’s Drama Tackle the Boston Bombing

HBO has released the first full-length The Newsroom Season 3 trailer for the final six episodes of Aaron Sorkin’s drama series.  The show returns for a shortened final season due to Sorkin’s schedule, but as someone who’s stuck through the series for better or worse, I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how Sorkin wraps things up.  I thought the second season was a marked improvement that addressed some of the show’s major issues (using a new news story as the “plot of the week”, for one), and I’m curious to see if there’s been any further tweaking for Season 3.  This new trailer shows that Jeff Daniels’ character continues his habit of yelling at people, and confirms that this season will address the 2013 Boston bombing.

Have you had your fill of Interstellar goodness yet today?  Of course not.  After you’ve watched the final trailer and found out where you can see the film two days early in 70mm IMAX or 35mm, check out this short new Interstellar featurette in which director Christopher Nolan and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne talk about bringing a scientific approach to the intergalactic travel seen in the film.  Years ago when Interstellar was first being developed, it was based on Thorne’s theories of black holes.  It appears that Nolan kept Thorne very much in the loop when he took over the film, and as seen in this new featurette, the two worked together to develop the visual representation of Thorne’s work.

Dracula Untold is all about Vlad’s (Luke Evans) choice to become a vampire so that he can defend his people against Mehmet’s (Dominic Cooper) threat, but one of the main reasons he makes that decision at all is due to his undying love for his wife, Mirena (Sarah Gadon).

Clearly Dracula Untold will be loaded with fangs, bats and epic battles, but it’s also a movie rooted in romance and family.  Hit the jump to find out more about Mirena’s effect on Vlad in a brand new Dracula Untold featurette and if you’d like even more information on the character, click here to check out my interview with Gadon from our set visit.  Dracula Untold hits theaters in 2D and IMAX on October 17th and also stars Charles Dance, Noah Huntley and Art Parkinson.

Almost all films take a very long time to make, but over a decade?  That’s quite the commitment and that’s exactly what Jeremy Workman jumped into with his latest documentary, Magical Universe.  The film covers his ten-year relationship with Al Carbee, an 88-year-old artist who spends all of his time tucked away in his Maine abode creating his art, most of which features dolls.

Magic Universal has screened at over a dozen festivals and received numerous awards including the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Woodstock Film Festival.  Now the film is inching its way towards an October 31st VOD debut and limited theatrical run, and we’ve got the opportunity to share an exclusive featurette in honor of the release.  It’s also worth noting that Workman is a skilled editor and is responsible for a number of very successful trailers and film promos, so it should come as no surprise that this new Magic Universe featurette plays especially well.  Hit the jump to check it out.

Watch: 20-Minute GOTHAM Featurette Delves Deep into the Upcoming Origin Story Series

by     Posted 117 days ago

gotham-featurette-ben-mckenzie

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held this coming Monday, which means the 2014-15 TV season is fast approaching.  One of the new shows that many are curious about is Fox’s Gotham.  The series is essentially a Batman origin story without Batman, as it follows a young James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) as he works to clean up the city of Gotham.  The show will introduce a gallery of classic Batman villains from The Penguin to The Riddler to Poison Ivy, and we even get a very young Catwoman.  I’m curious to see how this show can sustain itself if it’s mostly made up of teases and hints and in-jokes (again, Batman will not materialize), and a new 20-minute Gotham featurette offers a behind-the-scenes look at how showrunner Bruno Heller and the cast see this story unfolding.  The constant “wink-wink” nature could get old fast, so hopefully the focus can remain on Gordon without relying too much on references to the more familiar aspects of Batman lore that we’ll never see.

Hit the jump to watch the new Gotham featurette.  The show also stars David MazouzDonal LogueBarbara Kean, Jada Pinkett SmithRobin Lord TaylorCamren BicondovaSean PertweeCory Michael Smith, and Zabryna Guevara.  Gotham premieres this fall on Fox.
