Wes Anderson has never had much problem lining-up impressive ensembles for his movies.  Even his earlier movies have great casts albeit less famous ones.  In a recent interview with THR, Anderson revealed his next film, Grand Budapest Hotel, will have one of his best casts to date.  First, Anderson confirmed Ralph Fiennes, Bill Murray, and Saoirse Ronan were in the flick (Fiennes and Ronan are the leads).  But they’re only a small part of the large cast.  Anderson will reunite with Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Harvey Keitel, Tilda Swinton, and Jason Schwartzman. Owen Wilson might also have a small role.  The movie will also include Jeff Goldblum, F. Murray Abraham, Jude Law, and Mathieu Amalric (Quantum of Solace).

See the Entire FREAKS AND GEEKS Cast Reunited

The longevity of Paul Feig and Judd Apatow’s short-lived 1999 series Freaks and Geeks is both astounding and ironic.  The show was ahead of its time and faced considerable opposition from its home network, NBC, throughout its one-season run.  Over the years, though, Freaks and Geeks has amassed a legion of fans and acted as the launching pad for countless careers.  The main cast of James Franco, Jason Segel, and Seth Rogen now reads like an all-star comedy lineup, not to mention the ridiculous number of stars that had bit parts in the series like Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Shia LaBeouf, Ben Foster, Lizzy Caplan, and David Krumholtz.

Most of the show’s cast came together for a reunion at PaleyFest last year, but for the upcoming comedy issue of Vanity Fair (guest edited by Apatow), the entire cast and crew was assembled for “An Oral History of Freaks and Geeks.”  In addition to the fascinating article itself, VF has released a number of cast reunion images.  Hit the jump to take a look.

The first trailer for writer/director Roman Coppola’s A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III has been released.  The film stars Charlie Sheen as a successful graphic designer whose fame and fortune have made him irresistible to women.  After his girlfriend breaks up with him, he heads into a downward spiral that forces him to look back on his failed romantic history.  We previously saw some rather strange teaser posters for the film, and this trailer is certainly a trip.  Sheen is joined on his journey by Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman, who look to be playing a couple of suitably colorful characters.

We recently got a promising look at writer/director Roman Coppola’s (Moonrise Kingdom) upcoming film A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III by way of a few new images, and now a curious batch of teaser posters has been released.  The pic stars Charlie Sheen as a successful graphic designer whose fame and fortune have made him irresistible to women.  After his girlfriend breaks up with him, he heads into a downward spiral that forces him to look back on his failed romantic history.  These posters boast the name of the film’s stars alongside a corresponding sexually suggestive image, and while I’m not exactly sure what it all means, I’m sufficiently intrigued.

Hit the jump to check out the posters and a brief bit of the first footage from the film.  Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Aubrey Plaza, and Patricia Arquette also star.  A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III opens on February 8th.  [Update: We've updated the article with hi-res versions of the posters along with the first images from the film.]

A couple new images from writer/director Roman Coppola’s upcoming film A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III have emerged.  The pic stars Charlie Sheen as a successful graphic designer whose fame and fortune have made him irresistible to women.  After his girlfriend breaks up with him, he heads into a downward spiral that forces him to look back on his failed romantic history.  We previously saw a few images that focused on Sheen’s character, but this promising new batch gives us a look at Cowboy Bill Murray, an afro’d Jason Schwartzman, and the very funny Aubrey Plaza.  Based solely on these pictures, I’m already itching for a spinoff focusing solely on Schwartzman’s character.

Wes Anderson is a very specific filmmaker.  Flip on a couple seconds of any of his seven feature films and you’ll instantly recognize it as distinctively “Wes Anderson-y.”  Not everyone loves his peculiar style and controlled aesthetic choices, but fans of Anderson relish being enveloped by a wholly new world with each subsequent feature.  The filmmaker’s output has been met with varying degrees of success over the years, but his latest film is a prime example of the bliss that results from the perfect marriage of director and material.  Hit the jump for our review of Moonrise Kingdom on Blu-ray.

Filming has commenced on Disney’s star-studded real life drama Saving Mr. Banks.  The film chronicles Walt Disney’s twenty-year pursuit of the film rights to author P.L. Travers’ novel Mary Poppins, and the rocky relationship that formed between the two.  Tom Hanks will take on the daunting task of portraying Disney (the first time he’s ever been portrayed in a dramatic film), while Emma Thompson is set as Travers.  Director John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) has assembled a killer cast that includes Colin Farrell and Ruth Wilson (Anna Karenina) as Travers’ parents, Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under) as Travers’ aunt who was the inspiration for the character of Mary Poppins, Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) as screenwriter Don Dagradi, and Jason Schwartzman and B.J. Novak as the songwriting Sherman Brothers.  Moreover, Paul Giamatti and Kathy Baker also appear in supporting roles.

We recently learned that Charlie Sheen’s new TV series Anger Management has been picked up for a whopping 90 episodes, but Sheen also has a fairly high profile feature film role coming up soon.  The actor stars in Roman Coppola’s A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III in which he plays a successful graphic designer whose fame and fortune have made him irresistible to women.  After his girlfriend breaks up with him, he heads into a downward spiral that forces him to look back on his failed romantic history.

The first images from the film have landed online today, giving us a look at Sheen and co-stars Bill Murray and Jason Schwarztman in character.  Moreover, we’ve also got some enticing plot details from Coppola, who’s probably best known professionally for his collaborations with Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom, The Darjeeling Limited).  Hit the jump for more.

A trio of actors has been tapped to round out the cast of director John Lee Hancock’s (The Blind Side) real-life story Saving Mr. Banks.  The film stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and tells the true story of the visionary’s 14-year courtship of Australian author P.L. Travers for the rights to the Mary Poppins character.  Emma Thompson plays Travers, who was wary to sell the rights to the studio as the Mary Poppins story was highly personal and reflected hardships in her own life as well as her relationship with her father.  Variety reports that Jason Schwartzman, Paul Giamatti, and Ruth Wilson (The Lone Ranger) have joined the cast.

Schwarztman will play Richard Morton Sherman, a songwriter who wrote a number of songs for Disney films (including Mary Poppins), while Giamatti will portray Banks’ chauffeur while she’s in Los Angeles.  Wilson will portray Travers’ mother in flashbacks opposite Colin Farrell, who is set as the author’s father.

HBO Considering BORED TO DEATH Movie

Let the speculation and online campaigns begin!  Months after HBO decided not to renew comedy series Bored to Death for another season, it appears that the network is mulling over the prospect of a feature film sendoff for the quirky show.  The speculation began when star Ted Danson revealed to a French journalist that there was a good chance of a 90-minute movie happening.  Vulture reached out to HBO for comment, and the network responded that there had “been some conversations” but cautioned, “it’s at a very early stage.”  That is, don’t hold your breath.

Fan outcry (and continued DVD sales) led to an Arrested Development revival as the show is now returning for one more season on Netflix followed by a feature film, and Community fans have rallied early with the “Six Seasons and a Movie” battle cry becoming the show’s unofficial motto.  Whether a Bored to Death movie actually happens or not is still very much in the air, but stranger things have happened.  The final season of the show ended last December.

Director Peter Bogdanovich is assembling an incredibly impressive team both in front of and behind the camera for his next feature.   Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Olivia Wilde and Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) are attached to star in the indie comedy Squirrels to the Nuts with Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach onboard to produce the pic; it’s essentially The Avengers of quirky cinema.  The film centers on a hooker-turned-Broadway-thesp, played by Larson, and follows the “recurring intersection between these two facets of her life.”  Hit the jump for more.

New Making-Of Featurette for Wes Anderson’s MOONRISE KINGDOM

Focus Features has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom.  The featurette does a good job of explaining the plot, and most of the adult cast– Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, and Jason Schwartzman—break down their respective characters.  The cast also talks up Anderson’s distinct visual style, but the style is large part of why I’m slightly wary of the film.  The movie looks cute and funny, but it also seems like its verging on self-parody.  Hopefully, the film’s heart and humor won’t be overshadowed by the style.

Last week we shared two clips from Wes Anderson’s latest feature, Moonrise Kingdom, and now all of the clips released thus far are officially online.  There are six clips in total and they’re chock full of Anderson staples.  The visuals are gorgeous, the actors look like they’re having a blast, and the camera movements are undeniably Anderson-y.  For those unfamiliar, the story centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness that ensues from the community’s search for the pair.  I’m a big fan of Anderson so this one’s been on my radar for a while, and these clips only serve to reinforce my excitement for the film.  Let the twee commence!

The first clip from Wes Anderson’s latest feature, Moonrise Kingdom, has gone online.  The story centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness that ensues from the community’s search for the pair.  This clip features three Anderson newbies—Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, and Edward Norton—confronting the situation at hand as only Wes Anderson characters can.  I love the casting of Norton as a Scout Master, and Swinton is delectably harsh in this first clip.  The costumes ain’t bad either.
