Paramount has released the Super Bowl spot for Noah online ahead of the Sunday ad extravaganza.  The tagline that punctuates the clip is a bit silly—”Witness the untold story of the world’s most epic event”—but gets to the point of what I’m looking forward to in Noah: A darker version of a very familiar story that would naturally be horrific in the moment, told by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) in his biggest sandbox to date.  The 35-second clip is packed with big moments, including a brief shot of celestial beings hurtling toward Earth.

Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, and Logan Lerman star.  Noah opens March 28.  Watch the spot after the break.

Paramount Pictures has released a couple of new high-resolution images from director Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming Biblical epic Noah.  The film is, of course, an adaptation of the Bible’s Great Flood story, but with an Aronofsky twist.  These new images give us a look at the practical ark that was built for the production as well as Russell Crowe’s titular character embracing his wife, played by Jennifer Connelly.  The first two trailers for the pic promised plenty of gorgeous imagery and a literal boat load of CGI animals, and I’m eager to see what else Aronofsky has up his sleeve in the full film.

First 2 Trailers for Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH Starring Russell Crowe

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for director Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah, and it looks exactly like a Darren Aronofsky version of the Great Flood story.  The visuals here are quite stunning, and the production’s decision to shoot in Iceland looks to be more than warranted.  How refreshing it is to see a film with real backgrounds and landscapes as opposed to CG-created everything (ahem Maleficent).  What I’m most excited about, though, is the human element, as Aronofsky has a knack for telling wonderfully intimate stories that are extremely character-focused.  Combined with the expansive visuals of the Great Flood, this has the makings to be quite the event film.  Whatever quarrels are going on about the current edit of the feature, I sincerely hope Aronofsky’s signature style isn’t lost in the final cut.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, Mark Margolis, and Anthony HopkinsNoah opens on March 28, 2014. [Update: Paramount has also released an entirely different international trailer, which is also included after the jump.]

Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH Still Set for March 28, 2014 Release [UPDATED]

[Update: Paramount has reached out to inform us that Noah has not moved off its March date after all, and a mixup on their website led to the confusion.  Our original story follows below, but Noah will still be hitting theaters on March 28, 2014.  As you were.]

It looks like we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer to see director Darren Aronofsky’s iteration of the Great Flood.  Paramount announced today that the Black Swan director’s biblical epic Noah has been delayed from its March 28, 2014 release date to an undisclosed summer date.  The push is likely due to the film’s extensive visual effects, as Aronofsky’s vision of the tale involves 11-foot-tall fallen angels called Watchers.  It’s also possible that Paramount feels the tentpole will do better in the midst of the summer movie season.  Whatever the case, I’m really looking forward to this one.

Paul Bettany is looking to make his directorial debut with a couple of familiar faces.  It was announced today that Jennifer Connelly (Bettany’s wife) and Anthony Mackie will lead Shelter, which the A Beautiful Mind actor will direct from a script that he wrote.  Plot details are unavailable at the moment, but Bettany will be producing the pic alongside Voltage Pictures and BiFrost Pictures.  He most recently wrapped Transcendence opposite Johnny Depp, while Connelly will next be seen in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.  As for Mackie, he plays Falcon in Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Additionally, Maria Bello has been added to the cast of Disney’s sports drama McFarland.  The film stars Kevin Costner and centers on the champion track team of the predominantly-Hispanic California town of McFarland, which overcomes social and physical challenges during their meets in the 1980s.  Per Deadline, Bello will play the wife of Costner’s coach character.  Whale Rider director Niko Caro is onboard to helm.

We have seen several nice tight shots of Noah stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, and Anthony Hopkins in costume.  The production was stationed in Iceland, and as seen in a new batch of images, director Darren Aronofsky zooms out enough to let the vast and beautiful landscapes speak to his vision for the Biblical epic.  I like the look and scope of everything we have seen from the production so far—I am eager to see what Aronofsky will bring to the classic story.

Douglas Booth, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas, and Mark Margolis also star.  Noah opens March 28, 2014. [Update: We have removed these images at the request of the studio.]

New Images from Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH Starring Russell Crowe, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and More

New promo images have been released for Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah.  The adaptation will expand on the biblical tale, and take a closer look at the details of the story.  For example, while the ark is usually portrayed as a ship, in Aronofsky’s film, it’s literally an ark designed simply to withstand the flood rather than something that’s designed for travel.  As you’ll see from these images, the dress is also far rougher than the cheesy biblical version of robes and sandals.  And when it comes to the character, lead actor Russell Crowe says that this Noah isn’t a benevolent figure, but “a guy who can get the job done.”  It’s going to be a new take on an old story, and I can’t wait to see what Aronofsky has in store.

The first trailer has been released for director Josh Boone’s comedy/drama Stuck in Love.  Formerly titled Writers, the film stars Greg Kinnear as a famous novelist obsessed with his ex-wife (Jennifer Connelly) even though he’s sleeping with his friend Tricia (Kristen Belly), who’s trying to help him get over his ex.  The story also follows Kinnear’s daughter (Lily Collins), who is being pursued by a fellow writing student (Logan Lerman) despite her promiscuity.  It’s tough to hone in on which story is the primary one in this trailer, but there’s a strong Crazy, Stupid, Love. vibe and the impressive ensemble cast is certainly promising.

Recently seen battling the unded in Resident Evil: Retribution, Boris Kodjoe will next battle sex-addiction in the Lionsgate drama, Addicted.  Paul Hall will produce with Bille Woodruff (Honey) attached to direct.  The picture centers on a supposedly happily-married mother of three children who satisfies her sex addiction by sleeping around.  Sex addiction tales seem to be a trend on the rise (Shame, Thank You For Sharing), all paving the way to the inevitable Fifty Shades of Grey. Variety’s report shares no details as to Kodjoe’s role, so it’s unclear as to which side of the addiction he will be on.  Kodjoe can next be seen in another film that deals with infidelity in brutal ways in director Douglas Aarniokoski’s Nurse 3-D.

McGregor is currently in Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner) filming the star-studded adaptation of the stage play August: Osage County.  Produced by George Clooney and directed by John Wells (ER, The Company Men), the pic stars Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, and many, many more.  McGregor will next be seen in the disaster drama The Impossible, opening later this year.  Hit the jump for casting news concerning the fantasy Winter’s Tale.

Disney to Reboot ROCKETEER Because Why Not

The 20th anniversary of Joe Johnston’s The Rocketeer was just last year, which must have alerted executives at Disney that it was time to remake the film.  We talked to Billy Campbell, star of the original film, last year and he said he was “too long in the tooth” to reprise his role.  While the 1991 film didn’t land a big enough box office draw to push for a sequel, now that parent studio Disney is under new management, The Rocketeer looks like it’s going to be one of the first properties up for a reboot.  Perhaps the success of a similarly suited metal man with rocket propulsion made this a no-brainer.  Hit the jump for more on this developing story.

Early reports have it that Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream) is in talks to star as Noah’s wife Naamah, in Black Swan-director Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.  Connelly would star opposite Russell Crowe (Gladiator) in the title role with Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast) as the film’s antagonist.  We’re previously reported that Connelly and Julianne Moore were under consideration for the role, but the developing story has the former in the lead.  Crowe and Connelly formerly starred as husband and wife in Ron Howard’s 2001 drama, A Beautiful Mind. Connelly, of course, previously worked with Aronofsky in 2000′s dark drama, Requiem for a Dream. Hit the jump for more on Noah.

We recently reported that Liev Schreiber was in the mix for the antagonistic role in director Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic, Noah, but it looks like Ray Winstone (The Departed) may have usurped him.  Recent reports suggest that Winstone is in talks to play the villain opposite Russell Crowe’s titular character.  Previously speculated suitors to the role of antagonist have been Liam Neeson, Val Kilmer, and the aforementioned Schreiber, but Aronofsky reportedly wanted someone with the “grit and size” to go up against Crowe.  Winstone has it in spades.  Hit the jump for a recap of what else we know about the project, including recent cast additions and the frontrunners for roles as of yet unfilled.
