New images have been released for the likely-direct-to-DVD movie Fire with Fire.  The film stars Josh Duhamel as a fireman who has to take matters into his own hands when he’s threatened by a man he’s going to testify against.  So how do I know this movie is going direct-to-DVD?  For starters, the movie stars Bruce Willis and lately his small-budget thrillers are going to stores instead of theaters (Setup and Catch .44).  Second, it co-stars 50 Cent whose last seven movies haven’t made it into theaters (as well they shouldn’t).

But hey, maybe the movie will make it to the big screen, in which case the world can once again be reminded that 50 Cent should never be in movies.  Hit the jump to check out the images.  Fire with Fire also stars Rosario Dawson, Richard Schiff, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Hilary Swank, Josh Duhamel and Lea Michele NEW YEAR’S EVE Interview

by     Posted 2 years, 291 days ago

In Garry Marshall’s ensemble romantic comedy New Year’s Eve, an all-star cast celebrates love, hope, forgiveness and second chances, on a night in New York City that many see as the most magical of the year. While only some of the characters actually cross paths with each other, each individual seems to ultimately be searching for the connections that make their lives memorable and meaningful.

At a press conference to promote the film’s December 9th theatrical release, co-stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Hilary Swank, Josh Duhamel and Lea Michele talked about what attracted them to their roles, not putting so much pressure on that one day out of the year, their own New Year’s Eve plans, and what they drew on from their own lives, in bringing their characters to life. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

New Posters for THE RUM DIARY and NEW YEAR’S EVE

New posters have been released for The Rum Diary and New Year’s Eve.  The former is kind of cute and almost makes the film look like a light comic spin on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which is appropriate considering that Hunter S. Thompson was the author of both novels.  As for the New Year’s Eve poster, it perfectly encapsulates the cynical, greedy reason for the movie’s existence.  The point isn’t to convey a plot, but to jam as many stars into the film as possible in the hopes that you’ll like one or two of them enough to see the movie.  However, the stars you like will most likely be in the film for probably less than ten minutes total.  If you think watching a star you like play a poorly defined character is worth a dollar a minute, then you like wasting money.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The Rum Diary opens October 28th.  New Year’s Eve opens December 9th.

New Trailer for NEW YEAR’S EVE

by     Posted 2 years, 361 days ago

A new trailer for Garry Marshall’s star-studded New Year’s Eve has been released. This trailer isn’t much different from the first one in that it’s basically a montage of all the pretty celebrities and their separate stories set to pop music, though this new look does include inappropriate Abigail Breslin flashing. If you enjoyed Marshall’s Valentine’s Day, then you probably don’t need to be sold on the pseudo-sequel, and if the February-centered first film wasn’t your thing then this New Year’s Eve trailer is probably more than a little cringe-worthy. It looks like Seth Meyers may be the only saving grace for the brave boyfriends who are forced to soldier through this one.

The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, and Carla Gugino. New Year’s Eve opens on December 9th. Hit the jump to watch the New Year’s Eve trailer.

First Images from THE EXPATRIATE Starring Aaron Eckhart and FIRE WITH FIRE Starring Josh Duhamel

New images have gone online for the upcoming action flicks The Expatriate and Fire with FireThe Expatriate stars Aaron Eckhart as a former CIA agent who moves to Belgium with his estranged 15-year-old daughter (Liana Liberato) and takes a job as a security consultant at a multinational corporation.  But then he discovers that his co-workers are gone, the corporation no longer exists and his assistant is actually a trained operative trying to kill him.  Upside: great dental program.  Olga Kurylenko co-stars as Eckhart’s former lover/CIA partner tasked with tracking him down.

As for Fire with Fire, the film stars Josh Duhamel as a fireman who has to take matters into his own hands when he’s threatened by a man he’s going to testify against.  Hint: he does it with fire.  The film also stars Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, 50 Cent, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.  It could end up in theaters, but my gut tells me this is headed straight to DVD with maybe a cursory stint on VOD.  Hit the jump to check out the images.  No release dates have been announced for The Expatriate or Fire with Fire.

The first trailer for Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve has been released. The follow-up to Valentine’s Day stars every actor ever in the history of acting, whom I can only assume will appear for five minutes of screen time each. The trailer is basically a montage of all the actors making their New Year’s preparations and yearning for somebody to love. Nothing groundbreaking, but if you were a fan of Valentine’s Day it’s a safe bet that this movie is probably your kind of thing.

The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, and Carla Gugino. New Year’s Eve opens on December 9th. Hit the jump to watch the New Year’s Eve trailer.

Paramount has sent over some video and a bunch of images from the Transformers: Dark of the Moon premiere in Moscow.  So if you’d like to see Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, the band Linkin Park, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura on the green carpet, hit the jump.  In addition, the video the studio sent over mixes footage from the premiere with cast interviews.

As I said when I posted the clips earlier today, I can’t wait to see TF3 next week.  Everything I’ve seen tells me it’s going to be a really fun ride.

A few new images from Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon have hit the net.  As most of you know, I’ve seen a lot of footage from the 3rd installment and everything is telling me that Bay has made something special and it’s going to be a huge improvement over Revenge of the Fallen.  Also, unlike a lot of filmmakers that don’t know how to use 3D, Bay is using 3D to help tell the story.  I think TF3 will be the best looking live action 3D movie since Avatar.  Hit the jump for new images of Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Duhamel and Michael Bay.

New Trailer and Clip from TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON

The new trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon has gone online. If you want to see the trailer in 3D, it’ll be playing in front of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides starting today.  This new trailer is very similar to the first one. It’s just as impressive, and the epic nature of the flick is very prominent. As much as I want to look forward to this, I’m still wary given how cool the trailers for Revenge of the Fallen looked compared to how terrible the actual film was. Nevertheless, the Chicago set-piece looks positively massive. The clip features Josh Duhamel’s character and a bunch of guys jumping out of an aircraft, which is much more exciting than the first clip that consisted of a pissing contest between Shia LaBeouf and Patrick Dempsey.

Hitting 3D theaters on June 29th, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, and voice work from Hugo Weaving, Peter Cullen, and Leonard Nimoy. And if you missed it, be sure to check out Steve’s report from Michael Bay and James Cameron’s recent presentation on 3D here. Hit the jump to check out the trailer.

Bruce Willis to Reteam with 50 Cent for FIRE WITH FIRE

setup-movie-image-bruce-willis-50-cent-slice-01

Hey, remember that trailer we showed you in March for the awful-looking Bruce Willis/50 Cent thriller Setup?  It may have looked laughably-bad to all of us, but apparently Willis and Fiddy had a fun time working together because they’re re-teaming for another indie crime flick.  Variety reports that Willis and 50 Cent (I was going to simply say “actors”, but then I realized that would only be half-true) along with Josh Duhamel will star in Fire with Fire.  The story “centers on a fireman in the witness protection program. When he’s threatened by the man he plans to testify against, he takes matters into his own hands to save the love of his life.”  There’s no justice quite like fireman justice.  Just ask Howie Long.  David Barrett will direct from a script by Tom Conner.

Voltage Films will be selling the rights to the film at Cannes next week.  Filming is expected to begin on June 27th with an almost-inevitable-direct-to-DVD release date to be announced at a later date.

Relativity Media Sets Release Dates for Untitled Raven Project and Untitled Farrelly/Wessler Comedy

by     Posted 3 years, 143 days ago

Two upcoming Relativity Media films may not have titles, but they now have release dates.  First up, James McTeigue’s Untitled Raven Project (previously titled The Raven) will open on March 9, 2012.  Per the press release, “The film is a gritty thriller in which Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders.”  The untitled movie also stars Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

Relativity has also set the date for the Untitled Farrelly/Wessler Comedy that has an absolutely ridiculous cast starring in a series of interconnected stories.  Just some of the names on board include Johnny Knoxville, Gerard Butler, Anna Faris, Seann Hugh Jackman, Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Halle Berry, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Kate Winslet, Terrence Howard, Liev Schreiber, Elizabeth Banks, Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Stephen Merchant.  Hit the jump for the full press release.

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON Trailer and First Official Synopsis

by     Posted 3 years, 148 days ago

transformers-3-optimus-prime-slice-01

The theatrical trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon has landed online. We see some pretty fantastic looking footage on the moon, followed by some really impressive stuff back on Earth. We’re talking full-on invasion this time around. We get our first look at Frances McDormand as well. However, as we all know from the second flick Revenge of the Fallen, simply watching robots fight for 2+ hours does not a good movie make (understatement). This one has to be better than Revenge of the Fallen, right? Hitting 3D theaters on July 1st, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, and voice work from Hugo Weaving, Peter Cullen, and Leonard Nimoy.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with the first “synopsis” and a new still from the movie.  I put “synopsis” in quotations because it’s more of a logline and not a particularly illuminating one at that.
