As we close in on Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained (only two months away!), another trailer has popped up online.  While the latest domestic trailer was pretty good, this new international trailer is absolutely terrific.  It provides our best look at the film yet with plenty of new footage (some could argue a little too much), plot details, and character motivations.  And all of it looks amazing.  Also, it’s pretty easy to win me over when your spaghetti western-style movie leads off its trailer with the theme from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, M.C. Gainey, Walton Goggins, Garrett Dillahunt, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and Samuel L. JacksonDjango Unchained opens December 25th.

A new trailer for writer/director Quentin Tarantino’s new film Django Unchained has been released.  This new Django trailer is way more fun than a movie about slavery has any right to be.  We get to see a lot more of Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) and her treatment at the hands of Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).  We get some sage advice from Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Stephen, and a bit of historical postulating from DiCaprio himself. Why, we even get our first look at funnyman Jonah Hill in a somewhat surprising role!

Production Wraps on Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED

Quentin Tarantino has finally completed principal photography on his latest feature, Django Unchained, merely months before the film is scheduled to be released.  Producer Stacey Sher announced the news on her Facebook page, noting that filming lasted 126 days (or 130, apparently depending on who’s counting) and took place in Simi Valley, California, Wyoming’s frozen Grand Tetons, the Alabama Hills in California, and “the swamps and plantations” of New Orleans.

Though some may be worried that QT only has a short amount of time to put the film together before it hits theaters, it’s common for productions to simultaneously edit footage while filming is still taking place.  Hit the jump for more, including Sher’s full statement on the production wrap.

Quentin Tarantino and Hall H are made for each other.  It’s a feedback loop of pure enthusiasm.  The trailer for his latest film, Django Unchained, was met with lots of love, and all of his fans have been chomping at the bit for more.  Tarantino doesn’t hand out spoilers, but he’s not disturbingly protective to the point where he’s scared to show a single frame of his movie.  He’s a guy who’s always proud of his work, and he wants to share his excitement.  At Saturday’s opening Hall H panel, I couldn’t have been more excited to see Tarantino share his latest pride and joy.

The moderator opened by bringing out cast members Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, Walton Goggins, and Don Johnson.  And then the man himself: Quentin Tarantino.  Hit the jump to check out the recap.

Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained is quickly shaping up to be my most anticipated Christmas present of 2012.  While this new, one-minute TV spot shares a good amount of footage with the previous trailers released, it does feature a new quip from star, Samuel L. JacksonLeonardo DiCaprio looks delightfully deranged, Jamie Foxx is cool as ice as the title character and Christoph Waltz is the most charismatic bounty hunter since Bruce Campbell’s Brisco County Jr. And that blood spray on the cotton plant may be my favorite Tarantino shot of all time!  Also starring Kerry Washington, Jonah Hill, Don Johnson and James Remar, Django Unchained opens December 25th.  Hit the jump to check out the first TV spot for Django Unchained.

Though the new “trailer for a trailer” trend is, in general, annoying as all get-up, exceptions do exist.  Case in point is our first look at Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained by way of this trailer tease from the folks at Entertainment Tonight.  Granted it’s not much, but we do get a nice tease of Leonardo DiCaprio as the dastardly plantation owner and a few shots of Jamie Foxx as the titular Django.  New Quentin Tarantino films are celebrated as events, and Django Unchained is no exception.  Though we’ll have a much better idea of what to expect when the full trailer drops tomorrow, I’ve already got a smile on my face from the signature zooms on display in this clip.

You’re driving down the street, and it’s suddenly blocked off.  You notice these weird yellow signs with nonsensical letters or numbers.  There’s unusual glow lighting up a neighborhood you can’t usually see from your house.  What you might have here is a film company shooting in your town.  It happens a lot, and you never know where they might pop up…until now.

The following is a semi-comprehensive list of films currently shooting, what they’re shooting, and where they’re shooting.  We’ll be telling you where you might get to see the very famous, the kinda famous and (if all goes well) the soon-to-be famous. While we can’t list every single movie, television show, or student film in production, you’ll get a pretty good idea of what the heck is going on where all those people are buzzing about.  Want to know where in the world are Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Woody Harrelson, and Leonardo DiCaprio? DJANGO UNCHAINED Teaser Trailer to Play in Front of PROMETHEUS

by     Posted 2 years, 119 days ago

django-unchained-poster-slice

If you needed another excuse to go see Ridley Scott’s Prometheus next month, how about this: the first teaser trailer for Django Unchained will play in front of it.  Marketing for the sci-fi pseudo-prequel to Alien has been relatively slow and steady (then again, everything is relatively slow and steady compared to The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises), but we did recently post two new featurettes and a clip in addition to the somewhat spoilery trailer.  All just part of the buildup to the June 8th release right around the corner. Django Unchained, on the other hand, won’t open for more than six months after Prometheus, but that doesn’t mean we’ve been resting on our laurels.  Hit the jump to see a recap of all of our previous and continuing coverage on both films.

Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen Exit Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED [Updated]

by     Posted 2 years, 135 days ago

Director Quentin Tarantino must have written a doozie of a role for a certain Django Unchained character; not only has Kevin Costner left the picture, but now Kurt Russell has exited as well.  Both veterans were slated to play the role of Ace Woody, a villainous character who trains slaves to fight each other for public amusement.  Granted, the role isn’t feel-good like Man of Steel’s Pa Kent or Miracle’s Herb Brooks, but it’s a Tarantino flick; no one gets out unscathed.  Costner had previously cited scheduling difficulties for his departure from Django Unchained, but Russell’s camp has yet to provide a reason.  Slightly concerning is the fact that with a December 25th release date, there hasn’t been a replacement announced just yet.

Sacha Baron Cohen also let slip that his planned cameo won’t happen due to a scheduling conflict.  The rest of the Django Unchained cast, however, needs little support, boasting Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, M.C. Gainey, Garrett Dillahunt, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, and Tom Savini. Hit the jump for more. [Update: We've added new information regarding Russell's role]

Samuel L. Jackson Address the Issue of Slavery in Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED

While Samuel L. Jackson’s role in the upcoming superhero epic The Avengers certainly won’t hurt his status as “highest grossing actor ever,” that doesn’t mean the veteran will neglect his acting roots.  Jackson once again teams with  director Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained later this year, a movie which draws inspiration from some of the ugliest events in American history.  While we’ve brought you some good looking images of Christoph Waltz in character and of the first teaser poster, the plot itself is a bit on the ugly side. It revolves around Django, a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) and Dr. King Schultz, a German-born bounty hunter (Waltz) who are out to rescue Django’s wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).  Jackson plays a “house slave” of plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).   The outstanding cast also includes Kurt Russell, Garrett Dillahunt, Walton Goggins, RZA, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and Sacha Baron Cohen. Django Unchained opens December 25th.  Hit the jump to see what Jackson had to say about how Tarantino aims to handle the sensitive subject matter.
