With directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller helming The Lego Movie, I was confident the animated film was going to be something special. But I will fully admit, the film exceeded my lofty expectations. Loaded with great animation, a fun story, humor for both kids and adults, and an insanely addictive song (Everything is Awesome) that you’ll be singing again and again, The Lego Movie is truly something special and I’m beyond confident both audiences and critics are going to fall in love with the film. If you’re not familiar with the movie, it’s been made using a mix of stop-motion and CG animation, and the pic revolves around Emmett (voiced by Chris Pratt), an ordinary construction worker who finds himself anointed “The Special”, a master builder who will lead a band of rebels to save the world from the evil President Business (Will Ferrell). The film also features the voices of Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Alison Brie, and many others.
With the film hitting theaters on February 7th, Warner Bros. has provided us with nine clips. Hit the jump to check them out. You can also click here for all our previous Lego Movie coverage which includes posters, images, trailers, and more.

Through harrowing battles and gladiator-arena death matches, Hercules embarks on a legendary odyssey to overthrow the King and restore peace to the land.

New clips from two highly anticipated awards contenders that (in one way or another) revolve around the American Dream have been released. A new clip from director Martin Scorsese’s dark comedy The Wolf of Wall Street chronicles the first time that Leonardo DiCaprio’s hard-partying, drug-addicted stockbroker Jordan Belfort meets Margot Robbie’s Naomi, who eventually became Belfort’s second wife. The film opens on Christmas Day.
A new clip from director David O. Russell’s comedic drama American Hustle also focuses on a burgeoning relationship. It comes from a scene early in the film when the con artist duo of Christian Bale and Amy Adams first begin their courtship, and it nicely conveys the tone of the film. You can read Matt’s review of the film right here. American Hustle is now playing in limited release and opens nationwide tomorrow, December 20th. Hit the jump to watch both clips.
Summit has released the first clip from the adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s dystopian sci-fi novel, Divergent. Directed by Neil Burger (Limitless), Divergent is set set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. In the clip, Four (Theo James) takes off his shirt to show Tris (Shailene Woodley) his giant back tattoo, then kisses her. I don’t know the context behind the scene, but James and Woodley appear to have a nice chemistry. I will be curious to check out Divergent when it opens March 21, 2014.
For more on the movie, check out our set visit coverage. Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Tony Goldwyn, Ashley Judd, and Kate Winslet also star. See the clip after the jump.
For those who can’t wait for David O. Russell‘s follow-up to Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle opens on December 20. To whet your appetite, Sony has provided us with four clips and eight minutes of behind-the-scenes footage. The script by Russell and Eric Singer is based on the Abscam sting operation of the late 1970s. A con artist team (Christian Bale and Amy Adams) work with an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) to root out political corruption. Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner also star.
American Hustle already won its first Best Picture critics’ award and the Oscar buzz is building, so it’s time to get excited. Hit the jump to watch the clips and behind-the-scenes footage.
With director Peter Jackson’s second film in his The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, opening in a week, Warner Bros. has provided us with five clips and fourteen minutes of behind-the-scenes footage. The film continues the adventures of Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and the band of dwarves as they move forward on their quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, all the while Gandalf (Ian McKellen) investigates a disturbing presence that may be returning to Middle Earth. Smaug introduces a host of new characters like Bard (Luke Evans), the Master of Lake-town (Stephen Fry), and the elves Thranduil (Lee Pace) and Tauriel (Evangeline Lily), but the film also sees the return of Lord of the Rings favorite Legolas (Orlando Bloom). Moreover, Benedict Cumberbatch brings to life the dragon Smaug and he delivers a great performance.
I saw a screening a few days ago and am happy to report it’s fantastic. The film is almost non-stop action and I think the people that had issues with first film are going to love this one. In addition, the film features some unbelievable set pieces, with one sequence causing my theater to erupt in applause when it ended. Get ready for a great ride that you should definitely see in 3D. We’ve got a pair of new clips from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug to share with you today. They’re a bit Elf-centric and are highly conversational, but they give a nice introduction to both Evangeline Lilly and Lee Pace’s characters, while giving Lord of the Rings fans lots of Legolas (Orlando Bloom) to take a gander at.
Starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Richard Armitage, Sylvester McCoy, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Graham McTavish, Michael Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt, Ken Stott, Aidan Turner and the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D, and HFR 3D on December 13th. Four new clips from director Jon Turteltaub’s upcoming comedy Last Vegas are now available. The story centers on four friends in their 60s who reunite in Las Vegas to throw a bachelor party for their last remaining single pal. Last Vegas brings Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline together on the same screen, and these new clips each highlight each of their characters in turn (my personal favorite is an energetic-yet-drunk Freeman hopped up on Red Bull and vodka). Last Vegas opens November 1st. Hit the jump to watch the clips.
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters next month, and as we’ve seen with Iron Man 3 and The Avengers, Disney’s marketing campaign is about to go into full-on saturation mode. A pair of new clips from the pic have now landed online, teasing an action-centered sequence involving Jaimie Alexander’s Sif and the first reunion between Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Natalie Portman’s Jane. I’m interested to see how The Dark World fits into the larger pantheon of Marvel films post-Avengers, and the promise of exploring worlds beyond Earth and Asgard are certainly intriguing.
Hit the jump to watch the two clips. The film also stars Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins. Thor: The Dark World opens in 3D on November 8th.
Summit Entertainment has released eight clips from director Gavin Hood’s highly anticipated sci-fi adaptation Ender’s Game. The film tells the story of Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a young boy sent away to Battle School to hone his military skills in order to save the world from an impending alien invasion. The pic comes with high expectations as Orson Scott Card’s novel is beloved by many, and these clips tease a sci-fi story on a large scale. If you missed any of our set visit coverage, including 25 things to know about the film, click here.
Hit the jump to watch the clips. The film also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, and Abigail Breslin. Ender’s Game opens November 1st.
Focus Features has released new clips, a new poster, and some new images from director Jean-Marc Vallée’s upcoming drama Dallas Buyers Club. Based on a true story, the film stars Matthew McConaughey as a Texas electrician who, after being diagnosed with AIDS in 1986, began to smuggle alternative and illegal treatments into the US and into the hands of other patients. I caught the film at the Toronto International Film Festival and it’s a really solid performance-driven pic that chronicles the beginning of the AIDS epidemic from a fascinating point of view. McConaughey is indeed great in the film, but Jared Leto nearly steals the entire film as a transgender AIDS patient who becomes McConaughey’s business partner. Expect both to garner serious awards attention in the coming months.
Hit the jump to check out the clips, poster, and images, and click here to read Matt’s review from TIFF. The film also stars Jennifer Garner, Denis O’Hare, and Steve Zahn. Dallas Buyers Club opens on November 1st.
DreamWorks has released three clips and nearly 20 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from director Bill Condon’s WikiLeaks drama The Fifth Estate. The pic centers on the relationship between Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) and Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch), as the story follows the early days of WikiLeaks, culminating in the release of a series of controversial and history changing information leaks. I caught the pic at the Toronto International Film Festival and it definitely provides an interesting look into the beginnings of WikiLeaks as well as a peek into the divide between new and old media. You can read Matt’s full review from TIFF here.
Hit the jump to watch the clips and b-roll. The film also stars Laura Linney, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Mackie, Peter Capaldi, Alicia Vikander, and Carice van Houten. The Fifth Estate opens on October 18th.
