The Hunger Games may be over and done with, but that doesn’t mean President Snow (Donald Sutherland) won’t find another way to punish Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) for sparking the rebellion and threatening to topple his regime.  The new trailer isn’t due for another five days, but Lionsgate has released a The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 trailer countdown and in it, Snow warns, “It’s the things we love most that destroy us.”  Based on his tactics in the last two films, that’s basically his M.O., so Prim (Willow Shields), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) better watch out.

On top of that, we’ve also got the final poster for the film.  Mockingjay – Part 1 doesn’t hit theaters until November 21st, so it seems a little early to unleash a final poster now, but we did get those two sets of character posters, so how many more do really need?  Plus, knowing Lionsgate, their marketing team will really ramp things up as we get closer to the release, so better make room for loads of trailers, TV spots, clips and more.  Hit the jump to check out the new The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 poster and that trailer preview.

Exclusive JOHN WICK Poster: Keanu Reeves’ Fuse Is Lit and Ready to Explode

john wick poster keanu reeves slice

With director Chad Stahelski and producer David Leitch’s John Wick set to premiere at Fantastic Fest this month, we’re happy to premiere the first poster for the action thriller.  In the film, Keanu Reeves stars as “an ex-hitman [who] comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him.”  Click here to see a beat-up Keanu in the first image released last month.  While the film might not be on your radar yet, one of the reasons I’m extremely optimistic this could be something cool is the filmmakers.  While you might not know their names, you’ve definitely seen their awesome work in films like Speed Racer, The Bourne Legacy,The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and tons of others.  On some of what I just mentioned they did the stunts, and on some they directed second unit (which means they directed a lot of the action).  In addition to the films I just mentioned, they run 87eleven, which is the premiere action design team in Hollywood.  When an actor needs to be trained for an action role, they get sent to 87eleven.  I’ve heard the company’s name too many times to count over the past few years.

Anyway, John Wick is their feature debut and I’m willing to bet they’re going to pull out all the stops on the action scenes.  The real question is can they handle the script and the quiet scenes?  John Wick also stars Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Dean Winters, Bridget Moynahan, with Ian McShane, John Leguizmo, and Willem Dafoe co-star.  Check out the John Wick poster after the break.

A new full trailer for writer-director Sean Anders’ R-rated comedy sequel Horrible Bosses 2 is now online.  This cut sees stars Jason BatemanCharlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis finding their groove as criminals who opt to take part in the more lucrative business of kidnapping and ransom rather than murderous revenge.  The change in plot points this time around seems like it frees up the trio to flex their comedy muscles even more than in the original film.  While Horrible Bosses 2 could easily suffer from the usual sequel pitfalls, it’s worth the price of admission just to have these three on screen together.  Be sure to check out the previously released trailer for even more hilarity.

Also starring Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Chris Pine, and Kevin SpaceyHorrible Bosses 2 opens November 26th.  Hit the jump to watch the new trailer and take a look at the new poster.

Jason Reitman’s MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN Poster Reminds Us That Studio Poster Art Isn’t Entirely Dead

Ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this week, Paramount Pictures has released the first Men, Women & Children poster and it’s kind of fantastic.  Up in the Air and Juno director Jason Reitman’s new film looks to be an incredibly dark departure for the filmmaker, as it follows the story of a group of high schoolers and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the internet has changed their relationships, communication, self-image, and their love lives.  Aside from the wonderful folks at Mondo, the world of official movie poster art has been frustratingly dull over the past decade or so.  Thankfully, Reitman understands that the one-sheet can be an extension of the film’s creative expression itself, giving us this beautiful and slightly haunting Men, Women & Children poster.  More of this, please.

Hit the jump to take a look at the Men, Women & Children poster in full, and check back for Matt’s review of the film itself from TIFF later this week.  The pic stars Ansel Elgort, Kaitlyn Dever, Jennifer Garner, Adam SandlerRosemarie DeWittJudy GreerDean NorrisJ.K. Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer is due to make its world premiere on Sunday, September 7th at the Toronto International Film Festival so Sony Pictures has been busy dishing out promo material to pave the way to the event.  The film is based on the 80s TV show and stars Denzel Washington as Robert McCall, an ex-CIA agent who comes out of retirement to save a young woman (Chloe Moretz) from the Russian mob.

We’ve shared trailers, TV spots, clips and posters before, but now we’ve got a brand new The Equalizer trailer and poster to throw into the mix as well as two featurettes for the film, one detailing what Washington’s character is all about and another focusing on his specific set of skills.  Hit the jump to check them all out.

Nazi Zombie Commander Herzog is Back in Exclusive DEAD SNOW 2: RED VS. DEAD Poster

You think Commander Herzog (Orjan Gamst) and his cohorts unleashed some outrageous and wonderfully grotesque brutality upon Martin (Vegar Hoel) and his buddies in the first Dead Snow?  Just wait until you see what Herzog is capable of with a bigger army in Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead.  In the sequel, Martin is back, and he’s got his arm back as well.  Trouble is, there’s a little mix-up at the hospital.  They never recover the arm Martin sawed off himself up on the mountain, but rather, they find Herzog’s severed arm in Martin’s car, so stick that one on him instead.

It’s a downright brilliant scenario that broadens the Dead Snow mythology in some of the greatest and goriest ways imaginable.  Get ready for some serious head-smashing and disemboweling because Herzog and co. are back in theaters on October 10th and with the release fast approaching, Collider’s got the honor of unveiling the latest Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead poster.  Click here to read my review of the film and hit the jump to check out that new artwork.

THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Poster: Hunt or Be Hunted

by     Posted 28 days ago

the-walking-dead-season-5-poster

AMC has released the first official The Walking Dead Season 5 poster, which boasts the ominous tagline “Hunt or Be Hunted.”  Given that this new season may or may not feature a showdown between Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) gang and a group of people that may or may not be cannibals, the moniker seems appropriate.  Despite the fact that The Walking Dead airs on a cable network, it stands as the most watched drama series on all of television in the coveted 18-49 demo, which is kind of a big deal.  While the actual quality of the show varies depending on who you talk to, there’s no denying that a lot of people are watching.  Will the ratings rise continue in Season 5 or will the series finally plateau?

Hit the jump to take a look at the Walking Dead Season 5 poster, and click here to peruse a gallery of teaser trailers and images from the new season.  The series also stars Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, Emily Kinney, Chad L. Coleman, Sonequa-Martin Green, and Lawrence Gilliard Jr.  The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres on AMC Sunday, October 12th at 9pm ET/PT.

SEVENTH SON Rises with New Trailer, Posters, and Images Starring Jeff Bridges and Ben Barnes

Universal and Legendary Pictures have released a new Seventh Son trailer and poster along with some new images.  The plot follows mystical knight Father Gregory (Jeff Bridges) and his apprentice Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) and their fight to defeat the evil witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) and her followers.  If you feel like you’ve been vaguely hearing about this movie off and on the past several years, it’s because you have.  Seventh Son was originally scheduled to open on February 15th…2013.  After being pushed back three times, the movie is now (probably) going to finally come out.  That’s a big build up for a movie where the Dude and Prince Caspian fight monsters, but we’ll see if it was worth the wait.

Hit the jump to check out the Seventh Son trailer, poster, and images.  The film also stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Olivia Williams, Antje Traue, and Djimon HounsouSeventh Son opens February 6, 2015.

Adam Sandler’s Shoes Take Center Stage in First THE COBBLER Poster [Updated]

the-cobbler-poster

Ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next weekend, we’ve managed to get our hands on the first The Cobbler poster for director Thomas McCarthy’s (Win Win) upcoming fantasy drama.  The film stars Adam Sandler as a disillusioned shoe repairman who happens upon a magical heirloom that allows him to step into the lives of his customers and see things from their perspective.  As a fan of McCarthy’s previous work—especially The Station Agent—I’m very much looking forward to seeing how he handles a more fantastical concept.  He’s not entirely unfamiliar with the genre, as McCarthy previously worked on the script for Pixar’s Up, but this also marks a curious turn for Sandler given McCarthy’s dramatic background.  Hopefully the two make a strong pairing.

Hit the jump to take a look at the first The Cobbler poster.  The film also stars Cliff “Method Man” SmithEllen BarkinMelonie DiazDan StevensFritz WeaverYul VazquezSteve Buscemi and Dustin Hoffman. [Update: We've been asked by the studio to remove the unofficial poster.]

A TALE OF LOVE AND DARKNESS Promo Poster Offers a First Look at Natalie Portman’s Directorial Debut [Updated]

by     Posted 35 days ago

removed_image_slice

We’ve obtained a first look at the A Tale of Love and Darkness poster for Natalie Portman’s feature directorial debut, which also gives us our first peek at Portman in the film.  The actress wrote, directed, and stars in the adaptation of Amos Oz’s memoir, which recounts the journalist’s childhood in 1940s Jerusalem during the early years after the establishment of the Israeli state.  Portman herself was born in Jersualem before emigrating to New York as a child, and she takes on the role of Oz’s mentally ill mother in the feature adaptation.  This promo poster shows Portman covered in rain, and while it’s unlikely that this will be the theatrical one-sheet, it’s certainly an intriguing peek at Portman’s first feature film as a director.

Hit the jump to take a look at the A Tale of Love and Darkness poster.  No word on when the independent feature will hit theaters. [Update: We've been asked by the studio to remove the unapproved artwork.]

Gripping THE AFFAIR Trailer Hints at Darker Undertones in New Showtime Drama Series

by     Posted 35 days ago

the-affair-trailer-poster

Showtime has released the first The Affair trailer for its upcoming drama series, and it is not at all what I expected.  Starring Dominic West (The Wire) and Ruth Wilson (Luther) and told separately from the male and female perspectives, the series is described as the exploration of two marriages and the emotional and psychological effects of the affair that disrupts them.  However, this first teaser trailer has a much darker tone to it and actually feels a bit reminiscent of HBO’s phenomenal True Detective.  There appears to be a framing device, an investigation of some sort, and a deeply traumatic event at play.  It’s really compelling stuff, especially in the way they set up the West and Wilson’s characters, and this trailer has me 100% committed to checking out the pilot.

Hit the jump to check out The Affair trailer and poster.  Executive produced by Sarah Treem (House of Cards) and Hagai Levi (In Treatment), the show also stars Joshua Jackson and Maura TierneyThe Affair premieres on Showtime on October 12th at 10pm ET/PT.

THE FLASH Poster Leaves a Mark and Kicks Off an Easter Egg Hunt

The Emmys played out in traditional “let’s give it to whoever won last year” fashion last night, and so now it’s time to turn our attention to the upcoming 2014-15 TV season that’s just around the corner.  The CW has released the very first The Flash poster for its anticipated series, which is of course based on the DC Comics character of the same name (who may also be getting the big screen treatment in 2016).  The show is a spinoff of sorts of The CW’s other popular superhero show, Arrow, as the two series will inhabit the same universe—in fact a crossover is already planned for Episode 8 of both shows’ upcoming seasons.  This debut poster certainly flaunts star Grant Gustin’s ability to move quickly while also offering keen-eyed fans more than a couple of Easter eggs.  How many can you spot?

Hit the jump to check out The Flash poster.  The show also stars Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh, Rick Cosnett, and John Wesley Shipp with Robbie Amell, Wentworth Miller, and Clancy Brown poised for guest appearances.  The Flash premieres on The CW on October 7th at 8/7c.

YOUNG ONES Trailer Features Michael Shannon and Nicholas Hoult in a Fight for Water and Land

by     Posted 40 days ago

young-ones-trailer

Screen Media Films has released the Young Ones trailer online.  The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where water has become scarce and the only hope for a family becomes an irrigation pipeline that can revitalize their land.  This conflict sets off a battle between the family’s patriarch Ernest Holm (Michael Shannon) and Flem Lever, a young man (Nicholas Hoult) looking to romance Ernest’s daughter Mary (Elle Fanning).  I caught Young Ones at Sundance, and it was one of the most frustrating movies I’ve seen in some time.  Taken at its individual elements—visuals, performances, structure—it’s incredible.  But these parts never built to an emotional impact for me, and it was a struggle to figure out why.  I hope other viewers have more of a connection with the picture.  At the very least, it’s a worthwhile curiosity.

Hit the jump to check out the Young Ones trailer and poster.  The film opens October 17th and also stars Kodi Smit-McPhee.
