New images have arrived from the new James Bond film Skyfall and Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution.  I’m still impressed by the latest Skyfall trailers, and I’m hoping that the face-off between Bond (Daniel Craig) and Javier Bardem‘s villain will be one of the franchise’s best duels.  As for Resident Evil: Retribution, it’s Milla Jovovich wearing skintight leather and wielding two guns, which seems to be more than enough for the franchise’s fans.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  Skyfall opens November 9th, and also stars Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph FiennesResident Evil: Retribution opens September 14th, and also stars Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Kevin Durand, Bingbing Li, and Michelle Rodriguez.

One of the many films to show off new footage at Comic-Con was writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution.   In the series’ fifth installment, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues her search across the globe for those responsible for the deadly outbreak.  Things take a twist, however, when she runs into a few familiar faces.  The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing.  For more on the film, here’s the first trailer, 25 things to know about the movie from my set visit, some new images, and our Comic-Con panel recap.

Shortly after the panel, I sat down with writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson for an extended interview.  We talked about the scope of Resident Evil: Retribution, how post-production has been going, test screenings, the action, viral marketing, and more.  In addition, Anderson revealed his first cut of Event Horizon has just been found on VHS and he also talks about Death Race: Inferno.  Hit the jump to watch.

Comic-Con: A Look at RESIDENT EVIL: DAMNATION, the Animated Feature from Capcom and Sony, Including a Q&A with Director Makoto Kamiya

by     Posted 2 years, 157 days ago

While Lara Croft and Mortal Kombat each had brief moments in the sun, Resident Evil is really the only successful film franchise based on a video game.  And while the five film and counting series has proven extremely lucrative, many of the game’s fans have been left unmoved.  In order to rectify this, a second Resident Evil film franchise was launched, one that hems closer to the games in both character, style and in being, well animated.

The series, which launched with 2008’s Resident Evil: Degeneration continues with the new, Resident Evil: Damnation which is designed to bridge the gap between games five and six in the series.  Earlier today, Capcom and Sony Pictures hit Comic-Con to show off six minutes of footage and answer tons of eclectic fan questions.  Hit the jump for the details

Comic-Con has released the schedule for Friday, July 13th, and it provides further proof of how the convention is moving away from movies and towards TV series.  On Friday, three major TV series will be occupying Hall H: The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones.  However, there will still be plenty of presentations for movies including ParaNorman, Resident Evil: Retribution, Total Recall, Looper, and most exciting of all—a first look at Neill Blomkamp‘s District 9 follow-up, Elysium.

Outside of Hall H, there’s plenty of other great stuff including the panels for Community, Breaking Bad, The Legend of Korra, Firefly, and more.  Hit the jump for highlights from Friday’s schedule, and click here for Thursday’s schedule.  The 2012 San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 12 – 15th.

Apologies for the lack of a Top 5 last weekend. I was so busy prepping to get married, and eventually getting married, that I had to cash in a “sick day” on the best weekend job a person could ask for. The good news is that I have no intention on making this a routine (either the “sick day” or the getting married) so we should be good to go on the regular Top 5 installments for the foreseeable future. The bad news is that I doubt the substantial pile of wedding cards filled with cash/gift cards will catch on as a routine either. You win some you lose some, I guess.

In this week’s return edition you can find a recap of our Total Recall set visit coverage, a new trailer for Breaking Bad Season 5 alongside a fan-made recap of Seasons 1-4, continuing coverage of Prometheus such as Blu-ray details, a sequel recap and more, the first full trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution, and our Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter set visit. Keep reading for a brief recap and link to each.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION Trailer Debut and Milla Jovovich Q&A Recap: Footage Description and Violent, Gory and Action-Packed Details from Jovovich

by     Posted 2 years, 186 days ago

You might have noticed that just a few hours ago, the Resident Evil: Retribution trailer made its big debut, but for some lucky fans in New York City, the experience entailed much more than an Internet viewing.’s Jordan Hoffman moderated an event that featured a showing of the new trailer on the big screen as well as a clip from the film and a Q&A session with none other than Alice herself, Milla Jovovich.

When you’ve got a franchise rocking five installments, it’s undoubtedly a monumental success. While directors Paul W.S. Anderson, Alexander Witt and Russell Mulcahy have all effectively maintained the world created by Anderson in the first film back in 2002, inspired by the Capcom video games, now it’s time to push the envelope more so than ever. Alice is turning her battle against the Umbrella Corporation into an international effort, traveling from Tokyo to New York to Washington D.C. and Moscow during which she’ll uncover information that sheds new light on her expansive endeavor.  Hit the jump to read all about the exclusive footage and Jovovich’s experience working on the film.
