Everything we’ve seen thus far from director Sam Mendes’ James Bond film Skyfall has been incredibly promising, and just recently the first reviews hit and they were wildly positive.  As such, Skyfall looks poised to be a very, very big entry in the long-running Bond franchise, with a great deal of credit due to Mendes.  A number of the film’s first reviews noted the similarities between the sensibility of Skyfall’s and that of The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan.  As it turns out, that wasn’t exactly by accident.  During a recent interview, Mendes talked about how much Christopher Nolan’s films—specifically The Dark Knight—influenced his approach to Skyfall.

4 new clips from director Sam Mendes’ James Bond film Skyfall have been released.  I’m trying my best to temper my expectations following the incredibly positive early reviews, but these new clips aren’t doing me any favors.  All signs point to Mendes having crafted a Bond film for the books, and opening day can’t get here soon enough.  We’ll have video interviews with the cast soon, but until then check out Steve’s set visit and on-set interviews with MendesDaniel Craig and producer Barbara BroccoliBerenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris.

Hit the jump to watch the clips.  The film also stars Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Helen McCrorySkyfall opens in traditional theaters and IMAX in the U.S. on November 9th.

We may have the “best Bond ever” in Sam Mendes’ Skyfall if early accounts are to be believed.  Stateside, we’ll have to wait a few weeks to find out (unless you’re like Steve and got to see it early).  The newest clip features Bond (Daniel Craig) going up against his new nemesis, Silva (Javier Bardem).  Bardem looks delightfully crazy as Silva and proves that Bond’s troubles with public transportation are far from over.

Also starring Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Berenice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Helen McCrorySkyfall opens in the US on November 9th.  Hit the jump to check out the new clips as well as all the clips released so far.

In the newest clip released for Sam Mendes’ James Bond flick, Skyfall, Bond (Daniel Craig) is up to old habits: namely gambling and womanizing.  This thirty-second spot shows Bond playing cavalier with his hard-earned winnings and introduces him to Severine (Berenice Marlohe).  They must have hit it off since they later meet up for a refreshing Heineken on a passenger train.  We also have the first look at Harald Zwart’s The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in a behind-the-scenes featurette with cast interviews.

Skyfall, also starring Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris, opens November 9th stateside. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones stars Lily Collins, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Kevin Durand and opens August 23rd, 2013.  Hit the jump to check out the clip and featurette.

Two of our most anticipated films of the last quarter of 2012 just so happen to be Sam Mendes’ Skyfall and Rich Moore’s Wreck-It Ralph.  Today, we have a new TV spot for the latest and greatest James Bond movie that features Bond (Daniel Craig), his antagonist Silva (Javier Bardem) and lots of guns and action.  Things get a bit more subdued in the first clip from Wreck-It Ralph, in which we see our titular hero, voiced by John C. Reilly, meeting Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman).

Skyfall, also starring Judi Dench, Benwhishaw, Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris, opens November 9th stateside.  The animated Wreck-It Ralph, which features the voices of Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Ed O’Neill and Adam Carolla, opens a week earlier on November 2nd.  Hit the jump to see the new spots.

Listen to Over 6 Minutes of Thomas Newman’s Score for SKYFALL

We were recently treated to Adele’s swell theme song for director Sam Mendes’ upcoming James Bond film Skyfall, but there’s another musical aspect to the pic that plays a fairly important role: the score.  David Arnold composed the score for every Bond film since 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies, but Mendes made a change and brought in his longtime collaborator Thomas Newman to do the music for Skyfall.  In addition to scoring all of Mendes’ films except Away We Go, Newman is responsible for such memorable scores as Wall-E, Angels in America, and The Shawshank Redemption.

A nearly 7-minute preview of Newman’s Skyfall score has now landed online, giving us a taste of what’s in store for the excellent-looking new Bond film.  The score sounds suitably Bond-esque, and I look forward to hearing Newman’s work in full when the film opens on November 9th.  Hit the jump to take a listen.

New SKYFALL Trailer Now Accompanied by Adele’s James Bond Theme “Skyfall”

If you missed any of the recent trailers for Sam Mendes’ James Bond flick, Skyfall, or the excellent theme song by Adele, you’re in luck because now you can enjoy them both together!  The theme song is great on its own and I’m sure that it’ll fit nicely with the opening credits of Skyfall, but it feels a bit forced in this patched together trailer.

Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Ben Whishaw, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem.  It opens stateside November 9th.  Hit the jump to see the new trailer.

New clips have gone online for two of our most anticipated films of the end of 2012.  First up is an extended look at the stunt sequence we saw in the trailer for Sam Mendes’ James Bond flick, Skyfall.  Daniel Craig does his best train-jumping work here as he transitions from construction vehicle to train carriage in debonair fashion.

Speaking of debon-air (sorry), Denzel Washington is featured in this official TV spot for Robert Zemeckis’ Flight.  The thirty-second ad, titled “Hero,” focuses on the vantage point of Washington’s character as a savior when he rescues his passengers by successfully crash-landing a jumbo jet.  Skyfall opens stateside November 9th; Flight lands a week earlier on November 2nd.  Hit the jump to see both videos.

Adele’s James Bond Theme for SKYFALL Set for Release This Thursday

Everything we’ve seen from director Sam Mendes’s upcoming James Bond film Skyfall thus far has been great, and setting Grammy-hoarder Adele as the artist tasked with singing the film’s theme song was yet another terrific choice.  Adele wrote the song (aptly named “Skyfall”) with her Rolling in the Deep producer/collaborator Paul Epworth, and now the official album artwork has been released in anticipation of the song’s unveiling this Thursday, October 4th.  Adele’s voice is pitch perfect for a Bond theme, and this song harkens back to the themes of the older, classic James Bond films.  It should be a great mood-setter when it plays in front of the finished film.

Hit the jump to check out the album artwork and to read Adele’s thoughts on recording the theme song for a James Bond film.  The song “Skyfall” will officially be released this Thursday, October 4th at 7:07pm EST, while the movie Skyfall opens on November 9th.

Last night’s broadcast of the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards played host to a few new TV spots for some highly anticipated upcoming films, and now the new looks at Skyfall, This Is 40, and Seven Psychopaths have landed online.  Briefly:

  • Skyfall – Director Sam Mendes (American Beauty) takes the reins in this latest entry in the James Bond franchise.  The TV spot features a nice back-and-forth between Ralph Fiennes and Judi Dench followed by quick flashes of exciting new footage.  November 9th can’t get here fast enough.
  • This Is 40 – The sort-of sequel to Knocked Up marks prolific producer Judd Apatow’s fourth directorial effort, and this new spot plays up the film’s connection to the Seth Rogen-fronted comedy.  The pic opens on December 21st.
  • Seven Psychopaths – Director Martin McDonagh (In Bruges) has assembled an insanely talented cast for this dark crime comedy, and the madness is on full display in these three new TV spots.  The film opens on October 12th.

New Videoblog for SKYFALL Focuses on Bond Girls Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe

A new videoblog for Skyfall has landed online, and this time the Bond girls are the focus.  Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe play two very different female characters in director Sam Mendes’ entry in the franchise, but both actresses are aware of how the female role in the Bond films has changed over the years.  Harris notes that it’s “not enough just to look pretty anymore,” and her field agent can more than hold her own.  Marlohe, on the other hand, describes her character as a femme fatale with a great deal of complexity.  It’s been nice to see the series evolve from its chauvinistic roots, and I’m eager to see what Harris and Marlohe bring to the table.

Hit the jump to watch the videoblog.  The film also stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Javier Bardem, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens on November 9th.

With the release date looming closer, a batch of new images from the 23rd James Bond film Skyfall has landed online.  Director Sam Mendes takes the reins this time around with Daniel Craig’s Bond facing off against an uber-creepy Javier Bardem as the film’s villain.  These new images are revelatory in that we learn James Bond has difficulty shaving when there are ladies present, and he gets very angry when you knock over his favorite statue.
