When we last left off with Showtime’s hit drama series Dexter, the titular serial killer was caught in a rather precarious position. Though season six as a whole left much to be desired, the cliffhanger hinted that producers were taking the show in an exciting direction for season seven. The upcoming season may or may not be the second to last installment of new episodes for the series (producers are keen on ending the series after season eight, but Showtime is hoping they’ll stretch things out to nine), so fans are hoping for some major developments in the new season. The first poster and a batch of new images from season seven have been released, with the tagline on the poster offering a tantalizing clue as to where things may be headed. Though a certain romantic subplot has me wary about how the story might play out, I’m hopeful that producers can bring the long-running series to a strong conclusion.
Hit the jump to take a look at the poster and images, which give us our first look at new cast members Yvonne Strahovski, Ray Stevenson, and Jason Gedrick. Dexter season 7 premieres on Sunday, September 30th at 9pm EST on Showtime.

As part of the Showtime portion of the TCA Press Tour, President of Entertainment David Nevins took some time to talk about the status of a number of their current shows, as well as a couple of their upcoming projects. During the interview, he confirmed that Season 8 will likely be the last for Dexter, the status of Episodes, the future of The Borgias and Californication, what they see for Homeland, and why they’ve chosen to wrap up The Big C with four one-hour episodes. Nevins also talked about the tone of Masters of Sex, and the development of the Aztec drama Conquest with Ron Howard. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

One of the most nominated series for the upcoming 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards is Showtime’s Homeland, and for good reason. The first season of the dramatic thriller was an absolutely joy to watch, with an intense, enthralling, and addictive season-long story that kept viewers on their feet, buoyed by some truly terrific performances by Claire Danes, Damien Lewis, and Mandy Patinkin. For those unaware, the series centers on a CIA operations officer investigating a possible major terrorism threat in the U.S. As you can probably surmise, things aren’t exactly that straightforward.
The season ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, and a new trailer for the upcoming second season has landed online to confuse fans even further. It’s a bit jarring to watch, but by the end of the trailer you’ll be craving new episodes faster than you can say “Abu Nazir.” Hit the jump to take a look. Season 2 begins on Showtime on September 30th.

Showtime had their panel for Dexter earlier this evening at Comic-Con, and they previewed the first two minutes from the upcoming seventh season premiere for those in attendance. The good news is that the network has released the footage online for everyone to see, and those caught up on the series are understandably eager to see the fallout from last season’s finale. This sneak peek confirms that season seven begins immediately where season six left off. Though I wasn’t thrilled about the season long arc last year, I’m interested to see how the series handles what happened in the finale.
Hit the jump to watch the sneak preview. Season seven of Dexter begins on Showtime on September 30th. To catch up on all of our Comic-Con coverage, click here.

Though it feels like something that could easily be straight out of American Horror Story, a new promo for the seventh season of Dexter goes under the sheets, teasing the end of the sixth season in which (spoiler alert), our favorite serial killer’s sister sees him ready to take the life of the Doomsday Killer. Though there’s no new footage (unlike the flash of a ton of scenes in the last quick promo), this is quite an erotic and peculiar thriller. Not only does it hint at the struggle Dexter will have with Deb learning of his dark passenger, but it also gives a bit of a strange feeling because of the incestuous plot that also blossomed last season before that finale twist.
You can watch the new promo after the jump, and stay tuned for our coverage of the Dexter panel at Comic-Con later this week.

A new trailer for the seventh season of Dexter showed up just last week, and while there hasn’t been any new footage shown from the new season, it does hint at some big things happening between Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), especially following the cliffhanger ending last season. Hopefully we’ll get more of an idea of what this season will entail at Comic-Con next month, bot for now, we have some hints from executive producer Sara Colleton who not only details some of the plot points of the forthcoming seventh season, but also confirms that the eighth season will be the last for Dexter. More details after the jump.

The Showtime drama series The Borgias is a complex, unvarnished portrait of one of history’s most intriguing and infamous dynastic families. No matter the outside threats, the biggest problems that Pope Alexander (Jeremy Irons) had to face throughout Season 2 came from inside his own family, most specifically the sibling rivalry between sons Cesare (François Arnaud) and Juan (David Oakes), which came to a head in Episode 9. Please be aware that there will be spoilers, so stop reading now if you don’t want to know.
During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, British actor David Oakes talked about the outcome for his character, what it was like to shoot the penultimate scene with François Arnaud, trying to delay the inevitable fate of his character, what he thinks Season 3 might be like now, how it’s been to have such overwhelmingly positive fan support, and working with such an amazing cast. He also talked about where he’d like to go next in his career, and how he ended up as an actor. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

Following in the footsteps of House M.D., which just finished their eighth and final season last month, Weeds will be doing the exact same thing this summer. The eighth season which premieres this summer on July 1st at 10/9c will be the last for the popular Showtime series. That will leave Dexter as the longest running show on the cable network, and right now the plan is for that series to finish on its eighth season as well (too bad The Office isn’t taking cues from Showtime). However, it sounds like the show’s creator haven’t exactly decided how to finish Nancy Botwin’s (Mary-Louise Parker) smoky journey. More after the jump.

Showtime already has a fine line-up of programming with Dexter, Shameless and The Borgias holding strong, not to mention freshman series Homeland snagging some great awards nominations recently, but that line-up is looking to beef up a bit with the addition of two new series to the pay cable channel. Showtime has just announced a series pick-up for both Ray Donovan, featuring Liev Schreiber in his first series regular role, and Masters of Sex, featuring the spectacular Michael Sheen and the stunning Lizzy Caplan. The two series couldn’t be more different. Details on each after the jump!

With HBO putting Luck out of its misery earlier this year, that leaves one of the series’ stars to travel to another cable network for a high profile role. Showtime has announced that Jason Gedrick, who can also be seen in films like Iron Eagle, Promised Land and Backdraft, has landed a multi-episode arc in the forthcoming seventh season of Dexter. Though we don’t know the specifics of the story this season, Gedrick will play the manager of a Miami-area gentlemen’s club that becomes linked to a high-profile murder case. This comes after Ray Stevenson has been cast in a role that will likely turn out to be some sort of adversary for Michael C. Hall as everyone’s favorite serial killer.
Hopefully this summer we’ll find out more about what Dexter will be encountering this season after the conclusion of the sixth season really shook things up between Dexter and his sister Deb, and will likely test the bonds of the brother and sister duo at the Miami Metro Police Department. Stay tuned for more updates on Dexter and our eager anticipation of the season premiere on September 30th at 9/8c. Check out the full press release after the jump.

If you haven’t caught up on Dexter, you may not want to read this article, because it will contain some commentary on the conclusion of the sixth season. But first, TV Line has news that Ray Stevenson (from HBO’s Rome and films like The Three Musketeers and Thor) will join the seventh season of the Showtime drama. There aren’t too many details on his character, but apparently the Irish actor is set to play a senior member of a dangerous crime ring from Eastern Europe who comes to Miami to learn who killed one of his associates. It’s not clear if he’ll be one of the main villains who could give Dexter (Michael C. Hall) a run for his money, but I’m sure they’ll cross paths for at least a couple episodes.
Of course, who knows how this new season will play out after not only the incestuous revelation between Dexter and his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), but her discovery of Dexter dispatching with last year’s serial killer of the month. I guess well have to wait and find out when the season premieres on September 30th, but we’ll likely have a better idea before that if Dexter shows up at Comic-Con again this year.

Already renewed for Season 2, the hit Showtime comedy series House of Lies closes out its first season with unexpected twists and surprises, as Marty Kaan’s (Don Cheadle) management consultant team at Galweather & Stearn fight the MetroCapital acquisition. Actor Ben Schwartz plays Clyde Oberholt, a major suck-up and voracious womanizer, who pulls his weight at work but uses his status to attract as many women as he can while he’s on his rise to the top.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Ben Schwartz talked about how excited he is to be doing a role that mixes drama with comedy and allows him the opportunity to do so many things, how he plants little things in throughout the season to enrich his character, how he’s looking forward to getting deeper into his backstory in Season 2, and what Clyde really thinks of the people he’s working with. He also talked about shooting the indie film Coffee Town with Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Steve Little (Eastbound and Down), doing the animated series Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja for Disney XD and premiering in September, and voicing a character for the DreamWorks Animation feature Turbo, with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

Already renewed for Season 2, the hit Showtime comedy series House of Lies closes out its first season with unexpected twists and surprises, as Marty Kaan’s (Don Cheadle) management consultant team at Galweather & Stearn fight the MetroCapital acquisition. Actor Josh Lawson plays Doug Guggenheim, the brilliant, Harvard-educated member of the team, who is also a quintessential math geek with mad analytical skills, but no skills in the dating department.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Josh Lawson talked about how strong he felt the ending of the season was, how much the cast loves each other, what it’s like to work with the super-talented Don Cheadle, how much of his character was initially on the page versus what developed over the course of the season, his favorite moments on the show, that he’s rooting for Doug to meet a nice girl in Season 2, and how the fan support is inspiring them to push the boundaries even further. He also talked about the role he recently wrapped as Zach Galifianakis’ brother in The Campaign, also starring Will Ferrell, what it was like working with that cast and director Jay Roach, and why he also loves writing and directing his own projects. While HBO made some big cuts from their original programming towards the end of last year, Showtime is keeping shows around as EW has learned that the cable network has given an additional season order to Shameless, House of Lies and Californication. Shameless gets a third season after its stellar ensemble cast, including William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, has come through with a great second season while House of Lies, with Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell, has gotten stellar ratings to earn a second season while its first season is still in progress. Finally Californication is still going strong to nab a sixth season, but I don’t know if it will last beyond that. Either way, it shows that Showtime has faith in their shows and should please fans of all three series.

As part of the network’s TCA Press Tour presentation, President of Entertainment at Showtime, David Nevins, took some time to talk about their popular, long-running drama series Dexter, what he thought of the creative choices for this season, and the relationship between Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and his adopted sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter). Nevins also talked about the status of future seasons of Nurse Jackie and The Borgias, his hopes for their latest comedy, House of Lies, and where this season’s most critically acclaimed new drama, Homeland, will be headed in Season 2.
