Dimension has released two new Sin City: A Dame to Kill For posters.  The film stars Josh Brolin as the physically altered Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the first film), who is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell.  The story features new characters, but the trailer and these posters rely heavily on characters from the first movie.  Even though Brolin and Green are presumably the central figures, there’s a heavy reliance on Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Nancy (Jessica Alba), which reminds me that 2005 was a long time ago.

Frank Miller's Sin City A Dame to Kill For Storyboard Images Slice

In addition to some recently released live-action images, we’ve now got a look at some of Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For storyboard images used for the film.  To me, they look like panels from Miller’s source material, which makes sense considering his films are aimed at bringing the pages of his graphic novels to life.  Plenty of style on display here, but we’ll have to wait until later this summer to see if the sequel’s got the substance to match.  *FYI, the images could be considered NSFW depending on how uptight your workplace is.

Eight new images from Sin City: A Dame to Kill For have been released online.  The film stars Josh Brolin as the physically-altered Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the first film), who is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell.  All of these images could be glimpsed briefly in the trailer, but these are some nice, higher-resolution stills, which is important when so much of the film’s impact will probably be in the visuals.

The first trailer for Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For recently debuted to somewhat mixed reactions.  Seeing as it’s been nearly a decade since the original film, many were perhaps expecting an evolution from the first film’s ground-breaking aesthetics.  While the sequel looks every bit as atmospheric as the first film, those criticisms are certainly well-founded.  We’ve got three new images from the picture to share with you today, and while they probably won’t change your mind about the film one way or the other, they’re certainly stylized in a familiar fashion.

Starring Eva Green, Josh Brolin, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Julia Garner, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens on August 22nd.  Hit the jump to check out the new images.

Dimension Films has released the first trailer for co-director Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.  The film stars Josh Brolin as the physically-altered Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the first film), who is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell.  While I’m not crazy about the music they chose for this first cut, the character transformations are pretty damn cool.  Returning characters have a whole new look, which makes sense since it’s been almost a decade since the original film.  Newcomers to the franchise have been beat up, cut up, or dolled up to the point that they’re hardly recognizable.  A solid start.

A few new images have been released for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller‘s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.  The film stars Josh Brolin as the physically-altered Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the first film), who is “hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell.”  These images highlight previously-introduced characters Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Nancy (Jessica Alba).  Miller tells EW that while Nancy is still dancing at Kadie’s, she’s been changed by Hartigan’s (Bruce Willis) death.  She’s out for revenge and “is sick of being treated—as she puts it—’a piece of ass’.” If that’s the case, she may want to change professions.  The images also give us a first look at new character Johnny (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a “hard-luck gambler”.

The El Rey Network is an English-language, general entertainment network, born out of the mind of prolific feature filmmaker, Robert Rodriguez, who is assembling top talent that is unprecedented for a such a new network.  As his first original series, Rodriguez has adapted his hit movie From Dusk Till Dawn into a TV series that stars Don Johnson, DJ Cotrona, Wilmer Valderrama, Robert Patrick, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Lane Garrison and Zane Holtz.

During this recent interview to promote both the network and the premiere of the show, Robert Rodriguez talked about the genesis of this new network, the challenges of adapting the cult classic From Dusk Till Dawn movie into a TV series, the types of ideas that he’s getting to explore in the series that he couldn’t explore in the film, how important casting was, that these will be nasty vampires different from what we’ve seen before, how technological advances are allowing him to watch the shooting live, even when he can’t be on set, what it’s been like to revisit the worlds of both From Dusk Till Dawn and Sin City, whether he’d like to turn any of his other properties into TV shows, and what people can expect from the Roberto Orci original series Matador when it premieres.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

With Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For due out this August, you’d think the duo might want to take some time off before moving on to the next installment.  Nope.  It looks like, just as they’re wrapping up post-production and effects work on the sequel, they’re already looking ahead to Sin City 3.

Starring Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Julia Garner, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens August 22, 2014.  Hit the jump to see what Rodriguez and Miller had to say.

El Rey is an English-language, general entertainment network, born out of the mind of prolific feature filmmaker, Robert Rodriguez.  Conceived seven months ago and launched 27 days ago, having a filmmaker at the center of the network allows for an assembly of top talent that is unprecedented for a such a new network.  As his first original series, Rodriguez is adapting his hit movie From Dusk Till Dawn into a TV series, which will premiere on March 11th, and stars Don Johnson, Wilmer Valderrama, Robert Patrick, Adrianne Palicki, DJ Cotrona, Jake Busey, Lane Garrison and Zane Holtz.

During the El Rey portion of the TCA Press Tour, Robert Rodriguez talked about the ideas behind El Rey, why he decided to do From Dusk Till Dawn as the network’s first original TV series, that each season will take place during the time period from dusk until dawn, how the story will be a partial retelling that then veers off into entirely new territory, and transitioning a movie into an episodic series.  He also talked about which of his other films he’d like to see in as a TV series, the possibility of bringing Sin City to television, shooting Sin City 2 in 3D, to completely immerse audiences in the world, and that Nerveracker will be his next film, followed by Fire and Ice.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Remember about a month ago when a poster popped up that suggested that Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City sequel would be titled Sin City: A Dame to Die For instead of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For?  No?  Me neither.  Luckily, the first official poster for the sequel has been released and it confirms that, yes, it’s still titled Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, so we can put that issue to rest.

Starring Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Julia GarnerSin City: A Dame to Kill For opens August 22, 2014.  Hit the jump to check out the official poster.

SIN CITY, THE MIST, and THE WOLFMAN Just a Few of the Properties Coming to Television

While television’s original programming may arguably the best it’s ever been, the small screen is rapidly attracting re-imaginings of some big screen properties.  Production has already started on Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn series, which is only the tip of the iceberg for Movie-to-TV adaptations.  Plans are in the works to bring such properties as Sin City, Stephen King’s The Mist, and a series based on the 2010 film The Wolfman to the small screen.  As money gets tighter, budgets get smaller and in-home viewing becomes the preferred manner of entertainment consumption, television is poised to welcome its big screen brethren with open arms.  Hit the jump for more.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR Retitled SIN CITY: A DAME TO DIE FOR If This New Poster Is an Indication [Updated]

When it was announced that the sequel to Sin City would be based on Frank Miller’s comic, A Dame to Kill For, the movie’s title came as a bit of a no-brainer.  Now, it seems the marketing machine may be ramping up a bit, as the title of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For appears to have undergone a slight title change.  A recent poster sighting rebrands the sequel as, Sin City: A Dame to Die For.  Perhaps the word “kill” was a little strong for someone who obviously hasn’t seen the original film, so the more passive and self-sacrificial “die” makes more marketing sense, which is to say, none at all.

Whatever the title, the Robert Rodriguez-directed sequel stars Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey RourkeJessica AlbaBruce WillisRosario DawsonJaime KingJoseph Gordon-LevittDennis HaysbertChristopher MeloniJeremy PivenRay LiottaJuno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Julia Garner, and opens August 22, 2014.  Hit the jump to scope out the new poster.

UPDATE: The Studio has informed us the title has not changed.  It’s still Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Robert Rodriguez was set to deliver a one-two punch this fall with Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, but now both movies have been pushed back.  Sin City was knocked all the way to August 22, 2014, and now Machete Kills has received a significantly shorter date change.  Originally set for September 13th, Open Road Films will now release Machete Kills on October 4th against Alfonso Cuaron‘s sci-fi drama, Gravity.  Open Road has also decided to move the action film Homefront from October 4th to November 27th.  Written by Sylvester Stallone, Homefront stars Jason Statham as an ex-DEA agent who moves his family to a small town in hopes of a quieter life.  Instead, he runs afoul of a meth-pushing kingpin by the name of Gator (James Franco).  Homefront will share the weekend with Kasi LemmonsBlack Nativity and Disney’s animated film, Frozen.

In other release date news, Universal has scheduled Joe Carnahan‘s comic thriller Stretch for March 21, 2014.  Patrick Wilson stars as a down-on-his-luck chauffeur looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back.  The film also stars Chris Pine, Ed Helms, and Brooklyn Decker.  The movie will have serious competition that weekend against Muppets Most Wanted and Divergent.

Well it appears that director Robert Rodriguez won’t have two films opening within weeks from each other after all.  The Weinstein Company announced today that Rodriguez’s long-awaited sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has been pushed back nearly a year, from this coming October to August 22, 2014, making Machete Kills Rodriguez’s sole release this year.  That’s some pretty disappointing news for fans who have already been waiting eight years for the promised Sin City follow-up, so hopefully the finished product will be worth it.  The film’s impressive ensemble cast is lead by Josh Brolin as the physically-altered Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the first film), who is “hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell.”

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is currently the only film slated for release on that August date.  The pic also stars Mickey RourkeJessica AlbaBruce WillisRosario DawsonJaime KingJoseph Gordon-LevittDennis Haysbert, Christopher MeloniJeremy PivenRay LiottaJuno Temple, Stacy Keach, and Julia Garner.

Ray Liotta plays real-life mobster Roy Demeo in Ariel Vromen’s crime drama, The Iceman, based on the story of notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski (Michael Shannon) whose career prospects expand when Demeo offers him the opportunity to earn a living as a mob enforcer.  The role marks the second time in 30 years that Liotta has played a real-life mobster since his acclaimed performance in Martin Scorsese’s gangster classic, Goodfellas

At the film’s recent press day, Liotta talked about getting back into that world again, why he likes playing pretend, how he researched his larger than life character, what it was like working opposite Michael Shannon, how he’s met real life mobsters, why he was reluctant to play Frank Sinatra in The Rat Pack, and why he tries to avoid typecasting and chooses roles that are diverse and challenging.  He also revealed his upcoming projects including playing himself in The Muppets…Again!, a hitman in the crime thriller Pawn, a preacher in The Identical, and a guy cheating on his wife in Sin City:  A Dame to Kill For.  Hit the jump to read more:
