Comic-Con 2012 is just over a week away, and amidst all the film and TV panels with celebrities and such, the convention will actually also be host to things like comics and toys.  Crazy, I know.  Hasbro has announced its lineup of special edition action figures and toys that will be available exclusively at Comic-Con 2012.  These include things like Transformers figures, G.I. Joes, and Jar Jar Binks in carbonite.

We’re nearly there, folks.  The release of The Avengers is now only a few short weeks away, and to tide you over, some new images featuring Loki’s Army have gone online.  We got a much better look at the film’s alien villains in recent TV spots, but these action figure images let us take a gander at Loki’s Army close up.  I still have no idea what these alien creatures could be, but I’m eager to see how Loki puts them to good use.

We previously brought you a few images of some of the Amazing Spider-Man toy busts that are set to be released in conjunction with the movie, and today some much better images of the characters have gone online. Diamond Select Toys, the company behind the busts from Spider-Man 3, are in the process of assembling four busts and one mini-statue featuring Peter Parker/Spider-Man and The Lizard. They’re pretty nifty, and gives us another look at what’s to come from one of the most anticipated comic-book films slated for release this summer.

With Toy Fair starting today in New York City, we’ve been provided with an insane amount of images from Hasbro’s upcoming toy lines.  A few minutes ago we posted all the upcoming Avengers movie toys, and now we’ve got all the G.I. Joe toys arriving in 2012.  If you’ve been looking forward to the G.I. Joe sequel (titled G.I. Joe Retaliation), you’re going to dig the toy images as they include Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, RZA as Blind Master, Bruce Willis as Joe Colton, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Channing Tatum as Duke, and some great looks at Cobra Commander, Zartan, Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, and many more.  Hit the jump for all the images and the product descriptions.

If you missed our earlier post about the new toys from The Avengers (which may or may not reveal the movie’s villain), then you wouldn’t know that the 109^th annual American International Toy Fair starts rolling next week. We thought we’d get this party started with a few new toys from The Dark Knight Rises. They may not be as cute as the vinyl dolls we posted or as wacky as the Bobble Heads, but they do have one ace up their sleeve: the Batwing (Mattel calls it “The Bat”). There are copious amounts of Batwing goodies here, but if you want to see what your own hand-held model would look like, hit the jump.

The 109^th annual American International Toy Fair kicks off next Monday in New York, so you can expect to see a lot of movie-related paraphernalia here. Right off the bat we’ve got some images of a “skill & strategy” game tie-in for The Avengers. It features four of our favorite heroes battling against a familiar enemy (hint: not Tom Hiddleston’s Loki). To see just who that enemy is, you’ll have to hit the jump. While it may not prove anything as far as Joss Whedon’s The Avengers plot line is concerned, this merchandise coupled with last weekend’s Super Bowl ad makes for a compelling case. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner. The Avengers opens in IMAX 3D on May 4th. With New York City Toy Fair starting in less than two weeks, the movie studios are starting to announce what will be on display at the convention.  If you’re a toy collector, it’s Christmas, because you get to see almost everything that will be arriving over the course of the year.  And for movie fans, it’s also great, as you get first looks at the costumes and gadgets that have been under wraps during the entire production.  While the studios are usually great at keeping everything under wraps, Toy Fair offers the fans a lot of answers.

Anyway, Warner Bros. Consumer Products just sent over a number of images of some of their Hobbit and Dark Knight Rises items that will be on display.  While we posted some of the items last night, we’ve now got high resolution looks at the Funko line of Wacky Wobler’s and Pop Heroes, and we’ve also got a Dark Knight Chess Set, Thinkway Toys U-Command Batpod, and The Noble Collection’s The One Ring 10k Solid Gold Edition.  Hit the jump for the images.

We have seen a couple previews for toys from The Dark Knight Rises.  We are currently in the business of passing along all things Batman, so tonight we have a few more looks at the toys that will be unveiled at the Nuremburg Toy Fair.  Most notable to this unsophisticated toyman is the vinyl pop version of Bane, easily the most adorable likeness of a masked psychopath I’ve ever seen.  There is a vinyl Catwoman to match (sensible given her costume), along with your basic Batman action figure accompanied by a very interesting contraption.

Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine star in the final entry of Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy.  The Dark Knight Rises opens on July 20.  See the images after the break.

If you’re a toy collector, Comic-Con is heaven.  That’s because not only do all the toys companies sell cool exclusives, they also show off tons of upcoming products.  With my schedule packed doing interviews, Collider’s Ryan Brookhart spent the past few days taking tons of pictures of the latest collectibles on the Convention floor.  Included in his image recap are Voltron, Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Batman, Masters of the Universe, Tron: Legacy, tons of upcoming Hot Toys products (Iron Man, Captain America, Avatar, Indiana Jones), tons of upcoming Sideshow Collectibles products, and a lot more.  If you’re into toys/collectibles, you really want to hit the jump.

If you’re an Indiana Jones fan and going to Comic-Con this week, get ready to drop a few bucks at the Hasbro booth.  That’s because they’re going to be selling the “lost wave” of Raiders of the Lost Ark figures and they’re in an amazing bit of packaging.  As you can see after the jump, all the figures come in a special box which looks great on its own.  Inside you’ll get Indiana Jones (ultimate version with a brand new head sculpt), Marion Ravenwood, Satipo, German Mechanic, Indy in German Disguise, and Toht (with extra melted head!).  Trust me, look at the pictures.  You’ll want one.  This is definitely going to sell out.

In addition to the cosplay pictures that I took at this weekend’s WonderCon, I also snapped a bunch of photos of the convention floor and some of the cool toys on display.  So hit the jump to check out some Ghostbusters toys, Green Lantern toys, the real costumes from HBO’s Game of Thrones, a huge banner for Doctor Who and Dylan Dog, the banner ad for how to get a personalized S.H.I.E.L.D. This weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (or C2E2) located in the beautifully spacious McCormick Place. In only its second year of existence, the convention brings a small taste of the international phenomenon that is San Diego Comic-Con to the Midwest (more specifically, to a brisk, 30 degree Chicago in March). Although light on the film industry presence that SDCC offers in mass quantities (to its credit, Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth was C2E2′s guest of honor and was available for a fan Q&A), C2E2 had a lot to offer in the way of costumed attendees and even threw in a dash of film-related toys for good measure. To be brief, I had a great time at an event I believe has a ton of potential moving forward.

Additionally, I must say it was a pleasure meeting some iconic characters such as Godzilla, Darth Vader, and a teamed-up Harry Potter and Captain Jack Sparrow. Yesterday I posted 100 images from Toy Fair 2011.  Included were tons of photos of all the movie related toys set to arrive throughout 2011 like Green Lantern, Smurfs, Happy Feet 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Gremlins and many others.  However, thanks to the good folks at Warner Bros., after the jump you can check out two videos that focus on the upcoming Thundercats and Green Lantern toys.  What I really like about the Thundercats toy line is that they’re making the new and old versions of the characters.  I really hope the new cartoon is good.

Earlier today I finally attended my first Toy Fair in New York City.  As a former toy collector, I’ve always wanted to check out the biggest toy show of the year.  While I thought the aisles would be decorated with action figures and super heroes, the reality is, most of the toys on display are aimed at little kids.  However, even though I was a bit let down by Toy Fair, I did manage to snap 100 pictures.  Included are all the movie related toys that were on display (minus Hasbro as they were off site).  So if you’d like to see toys for Green Lantern, Happy Feet 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Gremlins, the Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future, The Smurfs, Fraggle Rock, Batman, Justice League, and tons of other random things, hit the jump!

With Marvel releasing both Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger this summer, you can expect plenty of movie related action figures to hit store shelves.  While not all the figures have to do with their movie counterpart, I think they’re still worth checking out.

Even though some of you aren’t on board with the look of Thor, I think everything looks fantastic.  Also, hypothetically speaking, if I were to have spoken to a few people that saw a test screening of Thor, they might have told me the film was great.  I can’t wait to see it for myself.  Hit the jump for the new toys:
