Fresh from the day’s events at New York Comic-Con come these new trailers for various Marvel properties.  First up is a look at the direct-to-video anime film, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore.  The stylized trailer centers on Tony Stark and Iron Man, but reveals that War Machine, Hawkeye, Black Widow‘s boobs, Nick Fury and the Punisher also show up to the party.  Another trailer features the first look at Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United.  This first animated feature from Marvel Animation has a decidedly different aesthetic than Rise of Technovore and features the titular duo taking on the abomination known Zzzax.  Hit the jump for both trailers and a bonus look at the NYCC trailer for Marvel’s Avengers Initiative game, featuring Gladiator Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man.

First Trailer for THE CANYONS Starring Lindsay Lohan, Porn Star James Deen and Gus Van Sant

the-canyons-trailer-slice

The first trailer has gone online for director Paul Schrader’s sexualized indie thriller, The Canyons.  Starring Lindsay Lohan, porn star James Deen and Gus Van Sant (really), The Canyons spins a tale on the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition among a group of twenty-somethings and a chance event that unravels all of their lives.  The trailer, presented in a grindhouse aesthetic with appropriate music and filters applied, introduces us to the characters and a sense of danger in the film, but gives little in the way of plot.  The Canyons, written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) also stars Nolan Funk and Amanda Brooks.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer.

First Trailer for SEAL TEAM SIX: THE RAID ON OSAMA BIN LADEN, AKA CODE NAME: GERONIMO

The first trailer for SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden has gone online.  With as historical an event as the death of bin Laden, you would think that either this film or Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty would have provided a sense of tension, raised stakes or even a question of moral ambiguity that surely came with the operation.  Neither trailer gives a sense of this, so at least SEAL Team Six isn’t out of its league with Bigelow’s bigger budget.

SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden, aka Code Name: Geronimostars Cam Gigandet, Anson Mount, Freddy Rodriquez, Xzibit, Kathleen Robertson, Eddie Kay Thomas, Kenneth Miller, Robert Knepper and William Fichtner. Written by Kendall LampkinSEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden premieres on the National Geographic Channel on Sunday November 4th, just before election day.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

First Trailer for Rob Zombie’s THE LORDS OF SALEM

lords-of-salem-trailer-slice

Directed by Rob Zombie, the first trailer for The Lords of Salem has gone online.  The film follows a DJ’s unintentional reawakening of a 300-year-old coven of witches.  Zombie’s movies are usually over the top with gore and schlock (just the way I like it), but the use of Mozart’s “Requiem” accompanying this teaser trailer comes across as a bit more subtle.  Coming in just under two minutes, the trailer hints at what became of the 17th century coven, how they returned to contemporary times and what consequences that brings.  It’s interesting, but perhaps not enough to win over new fans. Starring Sheri Moon ZombieClint Howard, Bruce Davison and Sid Haig, The Lords of Salem opens later this year.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

The first trailer is online for writer/director Jonathan Kasdan’s The First Time.  The romantic comedy centers on a burgeoning romance between two high school teens.  Unlike other films of this ilk, Kasdan’s take seems to be incredibly honest at capturing the awkwardness of the titular event.  While the leads are unrealistically attractive, the chemistry is absolutely electric between the two of them.  It’s looking like Sony made a good decision in picking the John Hughes-esque film up from Sundance.

The First Time stars Brittany RobertsonDylan O’BrienCraig RobertsJames Frecheville and Victoria Justice. Be sure to check out Steve’s interview with Kasdan here.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer.

It’s been over a month since the first trailer for writer/director Walter Hill’s Bullet to the Head dropped.  Now we have a new look at Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang and Jason Momoa in this new international trailer.  The tone is the same, but there are some new one-liners delivered by Stallone, accompanied by a more contemporary (and fitting) track by Motorhead.  The international trailer is paced a bit better, but if you liked what you saw in the first cut then you’ll be pleased with the follow up.  Bullet to the Head, also starring Christian Slater, Sarah Shahi and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, opens February 1st, 2013.  Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.

First Trailer for PRICE CHECK Starring Parker Posey and Eric Mabius

Director Michael Walker’s Price Check screened earlier this year as part of the 2012 Sundance Premieres line-up.  Now you can get a look at the trailer for the film.  Starring Parker Posey (The House of Yes) as a pricing/marketing executive for a grocery chain, Price Check follows her relationship with an employee (Eric Mabius) who gives into her temptation at the cost of his family life.  This trailer is all over the place and Posey comes off as a bit unhinged, which is my least favorite kind of Posey.  Mabius simply seems at a loss for how to handle the material but perhaps that’s what his role calls for.  Hit the jump to check it out for yourself.

First Trailer, Teaser Poster and Synopsis for Jackie Robinson Biopic 42, Starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford

42-slice

The first trailer for director Brian Helgeland’s Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, has gone online.  No sports-related trailer is complete without a walk down the tunnel from the locker room and this one is no different.  Where the trailer quickly distances itself is in the film’s fearless to take on race relations, a central part to Robinson’s rise to fame in the sports world.  Boseman takes on the role whole-heartedly and looks to be an absolute force in the film.  I’m usually not a fan of contemporary songs in period trailers (I’m looking at you, The Great Gatsby), but Jay-Z’s track nails it this time around.

42 stars Chadwick Boseman as Robinson, with Harrison Ford, Christopher Meloni, Jon Bernthal, Alan Tudyk and John C. McGinley, and opens April 12th, 2013.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

New Red-Band Trailer for SINISTER from Director Scott Derrickson and Starring Ethan Hawke

Words cannot express the horrific potential this new red-band trailer for Sinister has to scare you.  Unlike the first trailer for Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror film, no one utters a word in the red-band trailer and the effect is vastly improved.  After the exhausting runs of the Saw and Paranormal Activity franchises, getting back to basics is a relief.  While the premise for Sinister isn’t exactly original and continues to invoke the current “found footage” gimmick (though with a slightly new angle), it looks like it could be a truly scary film.

Sinister stars Ethan Hawke, Juliet Rylance and James Ransone and opens October 12th, but you can see it first by bringing an early screening to your hometown.  Hit the jump to see the new red-band trailer.

The fall TV season is upon us, and previews for the upcoming seasons of a few comedies have been released.

  • Parks and Recreation – Coming off of a stellar fourth season, this two and a half minute preview of the upcoming batch of episodes teases Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Andy (Chris Pratt) hanging out in Washington D.C., Ben (Adam Scott) and April (Aubrey Plaza) working together at Ben’s new job, and plenty of Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) gems.
  • The Office – NBC’s long-running comedy finally comes to an end after the upcoming ninth season, and this brief preview emphasizes that “every episode counts” as the show winds down.  Click here to see what showrunner Greg Daniels teased about the upcoming farewell season.
  • Girls – HBO’s smart and sometimes uncomfortably candid comedy doesn’t return for its second season until January, but this teaser is enough to get you jonesing for some more Adam Driver weirdness.
