After seven years and a small case of cancellation, Arrested Development will return in two weeks.  Netflix has released the first trailer for Season 4, and the show looks as hilarious as ever.  As excited as all AD fans are, there was always the fear of “What if the show can’t meet expectations?”  I always felt that Season 3 went out on a high note, and that a fourth season could jeopardize the strong finish.  But judging by this trailer, Arrested Development fans have nothing to fear.  The weirdness, sight gags, wordplay, and more are back.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The show stars Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, David Cross, Portia de Rossi, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jessica Walter.  All 15 episodes premiere on Netflix at midnight on May 26th.

Much to the surprise and joy of every Arrested Development fan, the Emmy Award-winning comedy series following the wildly eccentric and entertainingly dysfunctional Bluth family is back with 15 new episodes debuting on Netflix on May 26th.  After having seen the first episode, I can say that the show is as twisted and funny as ever, and feels like it hasn’t missed a beat in the seven years since the last episode aired.  From creator/writer Mitch Hurwitz, the series stars Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, David Cross, Portia de Rossi, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter.

During a recent press conference to promote the 15 new episodes, co-stars Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, David Cross, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat and Jessica Walter talked about how great it’s been to reunite with each other, the possibility of a movie still being made, what it was like to return to these roles after so many years, how often fans throw quotes at them when they’re out, how complicated the episodes were to shoot, and just how many scenes the Bluth family is in together.  Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

The first clip from the new batch of Arrested Development episodes has landed online, and it appears that the relationship between Tony Hale’s Buster and Jessica Walter’s Lucille hasn’t changed a bit.  The clip provides a tiny hint as to what Lucille has been up to since the events of the season three finale, but mainly it just showcases the series’ wonderful sense of humor that’s been sorely missing from our lives for far too long.  Additionally, Netflix has released a new batch of character posters for the new episodes that features the entire cast along with some rather familiar taglines.

Hit the jump to check out the clip and posters, and if you missed the EW covers and new images from yesterday, click here.  Netflix will release all 15 new episodes of Arrested Development at once on May 26th.

New episodes of Arrested Development are now just a month away (so close yet so far!), and in anticipation of the Bluths’ return, the show’s cast graces the covers of this week’s Entertainment Weekly.  We get a peek at everyone’s favorite dysfunctional family back together again, as three separate covers feature Gob, Michael and George Michael, Tobias, Lindsay and Maeby, and George Sr. and and Lucille respectively.  The publication has also released two new images from the upcoming batch of episodes, which show Tony Hale’s Buster returning to Army and Michael Cera’s George Michael getting his Segway on at what looks to be a college campus.

9 Teaser Posters for Season 4 of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT; David Cross and Jason Bateman Talk about the Movie

Nine teaser posters for Season 4 of Arrested Development have been released. The iconography and one-liners are arguably more well-known than the plotlines when it comes to the series.  The show was built on inside jokes, which is probably one of the things that halted new viewership, especially since time-shifting and (legal) digital downloads were still in their infancy.  Now Arrested Development is returning to a brave new world where all of the episodes will be premiering at the same time, but judging by these posters, beloved gags will still get their due.  I especially like how these are all character posters but they don’t feature the actor, and some don’t even have the character’s name.

Hit the jump to check out the posters and the status of the movie according to David Cross and Jason Bateman.  All 15 episodes of Arrested Development season 4 premiere on Netflix on May 26th.

It’s almost here, folks.  Netflix announced today that the long-awaited new episodes of Arrested Development will premiere on the streaming site at 12:01am PT on Sunday, May 26th.  Moreover, the show’s order has been expanded yet again to 15 total episodes from an initial order of 10.  Netflix stressed that this new batch of episodes does not amount to a fourth season (something Jason Bateman has also been adamant about), but the cast and crew are hoping that this is act one of a story that will be completed with an Arrested Development movie.  Hit the jump for more, including the official poster for this new season.

Two of TV’s funniest families have their sights set on possible feature treatments, but they may not show up on screens any time soon.  Matt Groening’s hit animated series The Simpsons, now in its 24th season, already has one successful feature film under its belt, but don’t expect another one any time soon.  Arrested Development-creator Mitchell Hurwitz is currently experiencing a rejuvenation of the family comedy series thanks to a fourth season production at Netflix.  So how long will it be until a movie deal gets made for the Bluth and Simpsons families?  Hit the jump to find out.

We’ve got a couple of interesting casting stories to share this afternoon.  First up, add Ben Stiller to the long list of guest stars that will be appearing on the upcoming fourth season of Arrested DevelopmentEW reports that Stiller will reprise his role as magician Tony Wonder in one episode of the resurrected show on Netflix, but further details are unknown.  Though it was recently confirmed that this will be the one and only new season of the show, creator Mitch Hurwitz certainly does seem to have put together one hell of a run of episodes.  Other guest stars include Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Conan O’Brien, Isla Fisher, Andy Richter, John Slattery, and Terry Crews.  All 13 episodes will be released at the same time on Netflix in May.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Will Only Have One Season on Netflix

For those who have been closely following the progress of the new Arrested Development episodes on Netflix, the following probably won’t come as too big a shock, but it has been confirmed that upcoming fourth season of the show will be the only batch of new episodes produced for the streaming giant.  The formulation of this new season was a herculean task of scheduling given the series’ large ensemble cast, but somehow creator Mitch Hurwitz pulled it off and fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the upcoming fourth season lives up to the incredibly high expectations.

Hit the jump for more on why Netflix is only producing one season of the series and how the upcoming episodes fit into the overall plan for Arrested Development’s resurrection.

Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen to Guest Star on New Season of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT

The new season of Arrested Development has already lined up some great guest stars such as Conan O’Brien, Andy Richter, John Slattery, Terry Crews, Isla Fisher, and fan-favorites Henry Winkler and Carl Weathers.  Today, THR is adding two more names to the list: Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen.  Accoring to Vulture, Wiig is set to play a young Lucille (Jessica Walter), and the idea of that is amazing beyond all reason.  Each episode will be center on an individual character (the season kicks off with Michael (Jason Bateman), and he’ll also appear in every episode), so I’m wondering how much of Wiig we’ll see when the fourth season comes around to Lucille.  As for Rogen, his character is still a mystery, but I’m sure creator Mitch Hurwitz has come up with a great role for the actor.

13 to 14 episodes will all be released at once on Netflix this spring.

Two New Images from ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT: Season 4

Netflix has released two new images from the upcoming season of Arrested Development.  I’ve been re-watching the show, and it’s strange to see how much Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat have grown up.  You can get a sense of that from the new image of George Michael (Cera) driving the stair car.  At his age, he should definitely be aware that he’s going to have hop-ons.  Speaking of the ages of Cera and Shawkat, I’m intrigued at how creator and showrunner Mitch Hurwitz plans to do their individual episodes.  A couple days ago, we reported that the new season picks up immediately after season 3 ended, but I don’t see how that will work with George Michael and Maeby (Shawkat).

Mitch Hurwitz Talks ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Season 4, Bringing Michael Cera Into the Writers’ Room, and Status of the Movie

At the TCA Press Tour presentation for Netflix, Arrested Development show creator Mitch Hurwitz and most of the actors got together to discuss the new chapter for the comedy series, which includes 14 new episodes being released in May.  Fans of the show have been anxiously awaiting the project, since talk of a movie started, some time ago.  Instead of that movie, for the time being, they will get to see stories focusing on different cast members for each episode, at times overlapping with other stories, and this time even including some nudity from one of the principal actors.

During the panel itself and giving some extra time for a bit after, producer/writer Mitch Hurwitz talked about how he didn’t realize how big of a challenge it would be to finally get this going, that fan fiction has scooped possible storylines, how they had to learn to not be precious with the material, bringing actor Michael Cera into the writers’ room this time, that they’re trying to make the episodes just under half an hour while they’re in the post-production process, how the movie is in a bit of limbo until they see how the new episodes do, that there are things that harken back to the old incarnation of the show but that he also feels new viewers will find these episodes very accessible, and how he hopes to have extras available on Netflix at some point.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Mitch Hurwitz Reveals ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Season 4 Details; Says Each Episode Picks Up After Season 3 Finale

It’s almost here, folks.  New episodes of Arrested Development will be before our eyes in just a few short months, at which point we’ll see what the Bluths have been up to in the six years they’ve been off the air.  The entire new season will be released at once on Netflix sometime this spring, and recently the season order was increased from 10 episodes to 13 or 14 episodes.

We know that each episode focuses on a single character, and now creator/showrunner Mitch Hurwitz has provided a surprising amount of details regarding the show’s return, including the fact that Jason Bateman’s Michael Bluth is the only character that appears in every episode, and each episode will show what happened to each character directly after the events of the season three finale in 2006.  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Season 4 Premieres May 4th; Episode Titles Revealed [Update: No Official Premiere Date Set]

by     Posted 1 year, 113 days ago

Start the countdown.  The long-awaited fourth season of Arrested Development will premiere on Netflix on May 4, 2013.  For those who don’t know, all of season four will premiere at once rather than one new episode per week.  Don’t worry about having to call in sick.  May 4th is a Saturday, so gather your friends, have a marathon, and taste the happy.

Titles for all 14 episodes have also been revealed, and as we previously reported, each episode is named after a character. Michael, George Sr., Lindsay, George Michael, and Gob will all get two-part episodes; strangely, Part 2 of “Gob” takes place five episodes after the first part.  Sadly, there is no episode devoted to Franklin.  Hit the jump for the full episode list. [Update HitFix's Daniel Fienberg says a Netflix rep has reached out to say that the May 4th premiere date is inaccurate.  No official date has been set.]
