Two of our most anticipated films of the last quarter of 2012 just so happen to be Sam Mendes’ Skyfall and Rich Moore’s Wreck-It Ralph.  Today, we have a new TV spot for the latest and greatest James Bond movie that features Bond (Daniel Craig), his antagonist Silva (Javier Bardem) and lots of guns and action.  Things get a bit more subdued in the first clip from Wreck-It Ralph, in which we see our titular hero, voiced by John C. Reilly, meeting Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman).

Skyfall, also starring Judi Dench, Benwhishaw, Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris, opens November 9th stateside.  The animated Wreck-It Ralph, which features the voices of Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Ed O’Neill and Adam Carolla, opens a week earlier on November 2nd.  Hit the jump to see the new spots.

If you missed any of the recent trailers for Sam Mendes’ James Bond flick, Skyfall, or the excellent theme song by Adele, you’re in luck because now you can enjoy them both together!  The theme song is great on its own and I’m sure that it’ll fit nicely with the opening credits of Skyfall, but it feels a bit forced in this patched together trailer.

Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Ben Whishaw, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem.  It opens stateside November 9th.  Hit the jump to see the new trailer.

Sony Pictures has released fifteen new images from the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall.  As you’ll see from the images, new MI6 agent Eve (Naomie Harris) just won’t be about in the rough-and-tumble field.  She’ll also get to dress up nice and pretty to kick some ass.  Also, looking at these images and at the trailer, I love the way cinematographer Roger Deakins has shot this film.  Then again, I love the way Roger Deakins shoots anything.

Hit the jump to check out the new images.  The film also stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, and Javier BardemSkyfall opens November 9th.

Steven Spielberg Eyes Ben Whishaw for ROBOPOCALYPSE

Steven Spielberg is ramping up casting on his next directorial feature, the sci-fi actioner Robopocalypse.  Just yesterday we learned that Anne Hathaway is Spielberg’s choice to star as the female lead opposite Chris Hemswoth, and now Variety reports that Ben Whishaw (I’m Not There.) is being eyed for a key role in the film.  Based on the book by Daniel H. Wilson, the story takes place in a future where “artificial intelligence known as Archos comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication.”  Cabin in the Woods director/co-writer Drew Goddard wrote the screenplay adaptation, and former 20th Century Fox head Tom Rothman just came onboard as a producer.

Whishaw would apparently play a hacker named Lurker, should he sign on.  The actor stars in the upcoming adaptation of Cloud Atlas and plays the new Q in director Sam Mendes’s Bond film Skyfall, so we’ll be seeing much more of Whishaw in the near future.  Read the synopsis for Robopocalypse after the jump.

Even secret agents get thirsty now and then.  While James Bond’s beer tastes may differ from The Most Interesting Man in the World, we now know what he prefers when he’s not drinking a martini shaken, not stirred.  Daniel Craig and Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe appear in this new action-packed ad for Heineken.  The spot features a non-Bond running away from some ne’er-do-wells when he runs smack dab into the Bond pair, enjoying a cool, refreshing Heineken. Hit the jump to check it out.

“My life exists far beyond the limitations of me,” a character notes in Cloud Atlas.  By the same token, The Wachowski Siblings and Tom Tykwer‘s film exists far beyond the limitations of genre, narrative, identity, and time.  It is a work of sweeping ambition, engrossing stories, compelling characters, and powerful emotions.  The filmmakers have taken David Mitchell’s novel, and rebuilt it into a captivating sextuplet filled with love, hate, redemption, damnation, bravery, cowardice, and more.  Through skillful editing and astounding performances, Cloud Atlas is a cinematic experience like few others, and it will leave viewers in awe.

New Trailer for CLOUD ATLAS Starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and Hugo Weaving

A new trailer for Cloud Atlas has arrived, and it’s unsurprisingly great.  Directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix) and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), this ambitious adaptation of the David Mitchell novel features an all-star cast taking on multiple roles across numerous time periods and locations.  This trailer is a shorter version of the phenomenal first trailer that was released in late July, but it includes a few enticing new bits of footage as well as a Susan Sarandon voiceover that attempts to put this original take into perspective for unfamiliar audiences.  We recently learned quite a bit about the incredibly tough road to production for the film, but if these trailers are any indication then The Wachowskis and Tykwer have crafted a worthwhile, sprawling epic unlike any other.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.  The film also stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, and David Gyasi.  Cloud Atlas opens on October 26th.

Writer/directors Lana Wachowski, Andy Wachowski, and Tom Tykwer recently unveiled their ridiculously ambitious adaptation of David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas with an awe-inspiring extended trailer, directors’ commentary, and poster, and now we’ve got a closer look at some of the film’s characters.  The pic spans multiple time periods and locations, with the cast assuming numerous roles across different races and genders.  The idea is that we’re all connected, and relationships can play out the same way no matter the time or place.  The official site has now released images of the actors in all their character makeup, and it’s a sight to behold.  Where else can you see Hugh Grant playing a futuristic tribesman, Tom Hanks done up as a gangster, and Halle Berry as a white woman?

First Full Trailer for New James Bond Movie SKYFALL Plus the New International Trailer

A full trailer for Skyfall has been released, and it looks like Bond is back in a big way.  Anyone who was disappointed by Quantum of Solace (about 90% of the population, myself included), will likely be back on board with director Sam Mendes‘ take on the franchise.  The upcoming flick looks like it has everything audiences want from a James Bond picture: style, big set pieces, sex, and more style.  Mendes looks like he knows what sets Bond apart from other action stars and taken full advantage of it.  If you’ve been let down by the majority of this summer’s action movies, there may be an excellent one this November.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars The film stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, and Javier BardemSkyfall opens November 9th. [Update: We have now added the equally bad-ass international trailer, which contains footage that's not in the new domestic trailer; specifically, it has a little bit more of Javier Bardem's terrifying villain]

Extended Trailer, Directors’ Commentary, and Poster for Tom Tykwer and The Wachowskis’ CLOUD ATLAS

Warner Bros. has released a six-minute trailer for Cloud Atlas along with a director’s commentary video and a poster.  The ambitious movie is based off David Mitchell‘s novel of the same name, and tracks how the lives of multiple characters intertwine across multiple eras.  Yesterday, we showed you the first images from Cloud Atlas, but they’re nothing compared to what this trailer shows in terms of the film’s scope and visuals.  Of course, no one expected directors Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski (The Matrix Trilogy), and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) to go small, but it looks like they’ve made something that’s truly a sight to behold.  My only concern is with how the dialogue will be executed.  If it’s done in narration, then it will probably be okay, but if it’s conversation, then we might want to prepare for the “Let me read you a philosophy textbook” dialogue from The Matrix Reloaded.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer, directors’ commentary, and poster.  The directors’ commentary explains the difficulty in getting the film made and why they chose to make an extended trailer. It’s also noteworthy since the Wachowskis never comment on their movies.  The film stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, and Hugh GrantCloud Atlas will play at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and open on October 26th.

Yesterday, we reported that The Wachowski Siblings and Tom Tykwer‘s Cloud Atlas would be part of this year’s excellent line-up for the Toronto International Film Festival.  We had seen some concept art of Seoul in the year 2144 and behind-the-scenes photos, but now we have the first look at stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, and Jim Broadbent as a few of the multiple characters they’ll play in the movie.  The ambitious project, which also includes Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, James D’Arcy, Jim Sturgess, and Susan Sarandon, spans multiple eras with the cast playing different characters in each era.  For example, Berry said she’s playing a Jewish woman in the 1930s and an old tribal woman, and Grant revealed he’s playing six “incredibly evil” characters.

First Image of Ben Whishaw as Q in SKYFALL

Director Sam Mendes will make his mark on the Bond franchise later this year with the 23rd film in the series, Skyfall, and we now have our first look at the new Q of the Daniel Craig era.  Ben Whishaw (I’m Not There) takes on the role of 007’s gadget expert in Mendes’ pic, and this image proves that the character does indeed look super smart.  Unless I’m forgetting someone, we’ve yet to see a reinvention of a classic Bond character in the Craig films besides Bond himself, so it’ll be interesting to see how Whishaw’s Q fits into the universe.  The character was memorably played by Desmond Llewelyn from 1963-1999, then John Cleese took over during the Pierce Brosnan era from 1999-2002.

Hit the jump to take a look at the image.  The film also stars Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph FiennesSkyfall opens in IMAX and conventional theaters on November 9th.
