With the release date looming closer, a batch of new images from the 23rd James Bond film Skyfall has landed online. Director Sam Mendes takes the reins this time around with Daniel Craig’s Bond facing off against an uber-creepy Javier Bardem as the film’s villain. These new images are revelatory in that we learn James Bond has difficulty shaving when there are ladies present, and he gets very angry when you knock over his favorite statue.

Sony has released a new banner for the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall. I thought the teaser poster was a bit bland (it could have been used for any James Bond film), but it’s a masterpiece compared to four characters standing in front of a logo. The banner almost looks like it’s trying to advertise clothes than a movie. It’s also odd that they’ve pushed poor Daniel Craig all the way to the side. Yes, from left to right the position makes some sense, but if you look at it as a whole, the villain (Javier Bardem) is the one who grabs your attention.
Hit the jump to check out the full banner. The film also stars Berenice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens November 9th. [Update: Character posters for each actor have now been released, and these are also included after the jump]
Yesterday a batch of new images from the latest James Bond film Skyfall were released, and now a few behind-the-scenes images have hit the web. Director Sam Mendes takes a shot at the long running franchise with Skyfall, and everything we’ve seen thus far promises he’s cooked up one hell of a Bond film. Javier Bardem is utterly creepy as the blonde-haired villain, the stunts are inventive, and Ben Whishaw makes his debut as the new Q. These behind-the-scenes shots aren’t anything mind blowing, but the candid images are a nice tease for those that can’t get enough Bond.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has some new images from the upcoming James Bond flick, Skyfall. The new images throw some of the spotlight on the new Bond girl (Berenice Marlohe) and the villain, Silva (Javier Bardem). There’s nothing particularly revealing about the images, but after watching the excellent new trailers, I’m down for any fresh glimpses of the movie until the ads start revealing the whole damn thing a month before the release date.

A full trailer for Skyfall has been released, and it looks like Bond is back in a big way. Anyone who was disappointed by Quantum of Solace (about 90% of the population, myself included), will likely be back on board with director Sam Mendes‘ take on the franchise. The upcoming flick looks like it has everything audiences want from a James Bond picture: style, big set pieces, sex, and more style. Mendes looks like he knows what sets Bond apart from other action stars and taken full advantage of it. If you’ve been let down by the majority of this summer’s action movies, there may be an excellent one this November.

[Update: We have now added the equally bad-ass international trailer, which contains footage that's not in the new domestic trailer; specifically, it has a little bit more of Javier Bardem's terrifying villain]
Ah yes, it’s time for yet another teaser for a trailer. In anticipation of the release of the first full trailer for the new James Bond film Skyfall tomorrow morning, a brief teaser for the trailer has been released. Ralph Fiennes delivers a mouthful of dialogue that presumably explains the film’s MacGuffin, and we see a bit of a pretty terrifying stunt involving Bond and a train. I’ve really loved everything we’ve seen from director Sam Mendes entry in the long-running franchise thus far—especially this Olympics TV spot—and I’m hoping the full film delivers the goods.
Hit the jump to watch the teaser for the trailer, and check back here tomorrow morning at 9am EST. The film also stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Bérénice Marlohe, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris. Skyfall opens on November 9th.
If you watched the damn impressive (and long) opening ceremonies for the Olympics last night, you caught director Danny Boyle’s amusing James Bond short film featuring Daniel Craig and the Queen herself. In addition to the royally-enhanced bit, a brand new TV spot for the new James Bond film, Skyfall, aired during commercial breaks, and that spot is now online for your viewing pleasure. Instead of jamming as many explosions into 30 seconds as possible, this spot plays like a great mood piece, giving audiences a tiny taste of what director Sam Mendes has cooked up for his entry in the long-running franchise. We also get an incredibly brief first look at Javier Bardem as the villain and a really great tag that showcases a humorous Bond stunt.
I continue to be impressed by what we’ve seen from Skyfall thus far, and I’m incredibly excited to see how it all comes together. Hit the jump to take a look at the TV spot. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, and Naomie Harris. Skyfall opens on November 9th.
With this weekend’s domestic release of some little flick called The Avengers, the summer movie season is officially off and running. Although it’s easy for the comic book fan in me to rank The Avengers, The Amazing-Spider Man, and The Dark Knight Rises as my top three most anticipated summer pics, I thought it might be a nice exercise to quickly list what else the Summer of 2012 is offering that will likely tickle my moviegoing fancy. That said, because absolutely no one asked my opinion, here are five of my other most anticipated summer films (listed in chronological order by release date): Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, Steven Soderbergh‘s Magic Mike, Seth MacFarlane‘s feature debut Ted, Fernando Meirelles‘ 360, and John Hillcoat‘s Lawless. As always, I’d love to hear from you, the reader, about what you’re looking forward to seeing on the big screen in the coming months. By all means, use the comments section liberally.
In this week’s Top 5 you’ll find a ton of interviews, Matt’s review, and other ancillary bits for the aforementioned The Avengers, Steve’s coverage from his visit to the Istanbul set of Skyfall, the third trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, a new trailer, images, and posters for The Amazing Spider-Man, and the first full-length trailer for The Expendables 2. A quick recap and link to each ensues after the jump.
In every James Bond movie, there is always an insanely attractive woman cast to play the so called “Bond Girl.” In director Sam Mendes, Skyfall, the 23rd Bond movie currently filming in Istanbul, Turkey, she’s being played by French actress Berenice Marlohe. And after speaking with her on Sunday afternoon with a small group of reporters, I can say that the role has been perfectly cast.
During the interview, Marlohe revealed what she could about her character, how the script changed since being cast, her thoughts on being a “Bond girl,” what kind of training she went through before filming began, if she plays a lethal femme fatale, her costumes, how she got cast, and more. Hit the jump to either read or listen to the interview.
James Bond is under fire and pinned down. He’s stuck behind a fruit stand wearing a form fitting gray suit with his gun drawn. About fifteen feet to his left, Naomie Harris is in the front seat of a damaged Land Rover. As he looks around the crowded outdoor Istanbul market filled with hundreds of bystanders, he notices an older motorcycle attached to a cart. When the gunfire slows down, Bond runs to his right and kicks the bike free. He gets on and speeds off after his assailant.
Let me back up a second.
For those just learning a new James Bond movie is being released this year (October 26 in the UK and November 9 in the US), Daniel Craig is back as James Bond and it’s being directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Away We Go). The film also stars Javier Bardem (as the villain Silva), Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe, Ola Rapace, Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney and Judi Dench as ‘M.’ Skyfall Director of Photography is Roger Deakins (one of the best in the business) and it was written by John Logan (Hugo, Gladiator, Rango). Neal Purvis & Robert Wade also contributed to the script. Continued after the jump.
“You always go back to Fleming because the character Fleming created over a number of novels was incredibly complex. Some people sometimes forget in the cliche of Bond, which is the international playboy, and someone who’s always untroubled, and almost never breaks a sweat, that actually what Fleming created was a very conflicted character.”
This was part of what Sam Mendes said yesterday afternoon at a press conference in Istanbul, Turkey about Skyfall, where the 23rd James Bond movie is filming. It’s also where I type these words. As you can probably guess, I’m here covering the film and in the coming days you can expect a ton of Bond content (thank you Sony for having such a short embargo!). Until then, hit the jump to see Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris and director Sam Mendes talk about being in Istanbul and filming at the Grand Bazaar, an amazing market that dates to the early Ottoman period.
Some new behind-the-scenes video from the set of the new James Bond film, Skyfall, has gone online. Unfortunately, it comes by way of Entertainment Tonight, so it’s not exactly the most hard-hitting of pieces. We do get a look at Daniel Craig filming some scenes and the actor talks about how he and director Sam Mendes are putting their stamp on the franchise with the 23rd entry in the series. We also hear from new Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe and the film’s baddie, Javier Bardem. In addition, it’s revealed that filming will be taking place in Shanghai, Scotland, and Istanbul, as well as London.
Hit the jump to watch the video. The film also stars Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens on November 9th.
James Bond is nothing without his beautiful female co-stars, and his new film, Skyfall, he’ll be joined by Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) and newcomer Bérénice Marlohe. While initial reports pegged Harris as the new Moneypenny, it turned out she was playing a field agent named “Eve”. Harris’ videoblog focuses on the actress’ firearms training, and she notes that her character believes she’s Bond’s equal even though she’s not. As for Marlohe, who plays “Sévérine”, and the actress believes that the range of Bond Girl personalities over the years allows her the freedom to find her own take on the character. She also says that the first time we see Sévérine, “she has a dark side.”

Sony Pictures held a press conference today to announce details on the 23rd James Bond film. First up, Sony confirmed the title would be Skyfall, which sounds a bit sci-fi, but is a billion times better than “Quantum of Solace“. As for the title’s meaning, producer Barbara Broccoli says, “It has emotional context which will be revealed in the film.” The press conference was also attended by director Sam Mendes, co-producer Michael G. Wilson, and cast members Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Bérénice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris.
The official James Bond twitter, @007, tweeted the logline: “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.” Hit the jump for more juicy details on 007′s next adventure. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, and Ben Whishaw. Skyfall is due out November 9, 2012. [We've updated the story with the press release, as well as photos and video from the press conference, all of which you can check out after the jump.]
Casting on the next James Bond film continues to fill in. The Daily Mail reports that Ben Whishaw (The Tempest) and Helen McCrory (who plays Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter films) have signed on to the flick, although there are currently no details on their roles. Furthermore, The Daily Mail has confirmed an earlier report that French actress Berenice Marlohe will play the new Bond girl in the upcoming untitled sequel. No details are known about her character beyond “Pretty Lady that 007 will be schtupping at some point.”
Almost everything on the plot is being kept tight under wraps, but that’s usually the case with a Bond film this far out. Daniel Craig will return to play James Bond and Judi Dench is back as “M”. Javier Bardem is on board to play the villain, Naomie Harris is Miss Moneypenny, and the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye says “Ralph Fiennes will play a role so top secret, I swallowed a pill to make me forget what I was told.” The 23rd James Bond film (possibly entitled Skyfall) opens November 9, 2012.
