A new international trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has gone online. You may recognize some of the footage from earlier trailers. That’s mostly due in part to the film being pushed back from a June 29th, 2012 opening to a March 29th, 2013 release. Call it time to work on the 3D post-conversion, or time to do reshoots to include more Channing Tatum, but at the end of the day the film still looks like a lot of fun. Plus, you can’t really go wrong with Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis leading the way.
Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation also stars Adrianne Palicki, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona. G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens on March 29, 2013.

You may know him as Remus Lupin from the Harry Potter films, but now David Thewlis is set to join another franchise. Thewlis will be a newcomer to Red 2, a sequel to director Robert Schwentke’s 2010 actioner. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Queset) is taking the helm this time around, but original stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker will be reprising their roles. Other new cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung-hun Lee, Neal McDonough and Anthony Hopkins. Hit the jump for more on Thewlis’ character and a breakdown of the roles we know so far.

While we recently learned that Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot would be taking the helm of Red 2 (the sequel to the 2010 hit Red), we still didn’t know which original cast members would be returning for the follow-up. Well Summit has made one big casting announcement today, confirming that Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Mary-Louise Parker will be reprising their roles from the first film alongside newcomers Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-Hun Lee.
The story for the follow-up will find the team of retired CIA operatives taking on a new set of enemies all across Europe. The nature of Zeta-Jones’ role isn’t disclosed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she plays the film’s villain. I have yet to see Red, but I love the hell out of Galaxy Quest and this is certainly an impressive cast so I’m definitely going to have to rectify that sooner rather than later. Hit the jump to read the full press release. Red 2 opens on August 2nd, 2013.

Two new posters have been released for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The only movie this summer with a ninja avalanche, the second G.I. Joe film looks like all kinds of fun. The story has the Joes striking back after almost being wiped out by Cobra forces under the direction of Cobra Commander and Presidential impersonator, Zartan (the President is played by Jonathan Pryce). However, I’m not sure the Joes will succeed if they can’t even notice the giant Cobra Commander head behind them.

Though we’ve already posted a bounty of G.I. Joe: Retaliation material over the past few days, there’s one more Joe-related story to add to the pile: an international trailer. The new trailer for the sequel premiered yesterday, and this international trailer differs from that one in two ways: more global focus, and more ninjas. The first trailer for the film pleasantly surprised me, but yesterday’s clip left me a little disheartened. I want to see a movie that’s not simply a CGI-heavy Transformers rehash, and I’m hoping director Jon M. Chu has a fun take up his sleeve that’s more hand-to-hand combat oriented. Ninjas automatically make a movie at least 45% cooler, and Dwayne Johnson is the king of charisma.
Hit the jump to check out the international trailer and for a quick rundown on all our recent G.I. Joe: Retaliation coverage. The film opens on June 29th and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.

Paramount has released a new trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation that reveals more of the story and showcases some really cool action that’s been amplified by some great looking CGI. While I was in the minority for liking the first G.I. Joe movie, I’ll admit the new trailer looks like a huge step forward for the franchise and the casting of Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as the original Joe seems like it’s going to pay off in a big way at the box office. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer which features London getting hit by a Cobra missle.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens June 29 and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.

Paramount will be debuting eight character posters for G.I. Joe: Retaliation throughout the day. Every hour, a new character poster will go online at a different site, and we’ll update this article when that happens. The first poster has gone live, and you can check it out after the jump. Keep checking back for the latest poster. We’ll be debuting our character at 3pm (PST). [Update: International sites refused to acknowledge the embargoes of Collider and other movie websites, so Paramount has given all of us the go-ahead to release our posters. Click here to check out ours, and hit the jump to check out all the ones that have hit the web thus far.]

It’s easy to get overshadowed with The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises crowding the spotlight, but G.I. Joe: Retaliation has more than enough might to muscle their way in. In these new character images, we get a look at our favorite Joes in action, including the original Joe (Bruce Willis). In this sequel directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 3D), the Joes are decimated by a Cobra attack that leaves only a few of the good guys standing. The remaining Joes must band together to take down the evil organization. G.I. Joe: Retaliation also stars Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson and D.J. Cotrona. Almost none of the characters from G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra are returning for the sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, but Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) made the cut. A new image of the villainous ninja has gone online, and the image shows him holding a guard hostage. Oh, Storm Shadow. Will your ninja-treachery ever cease?
Hit the jump to check out the image. The film also stars D.J. Cotrona, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, and Dwayne Johnson. G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens June 29th.

The first trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has gone online. While I was underwhelmed by the Entertainment Tonight sneak peek, this full trailer is actually kind of fantastic (actual trailer editors > ET editors). It’s got some stellar action, a cool story, and a chill-inducing shot featuring the White House. The story finds the Joes in deep, as the entirety of the G.I. Joe team has been killed save for a few remaining survivors. Director Jon Chu has staged some nice action sequences here, and the trailer is elevated by a nifty cut of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

One of the films I wanted to see at Sundance this year was the Korean horror-revenge thriller I Saw the Devil. Unfortunately, I couldn’t work it into my schedule and a new red-band trailer has only made that regret grow deeper. The film looks brutal, but I love the visual style on display and I’ve only heard raves about the flick from those who have seen it (click here to read Bill’s review).
Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with an equally-impressive poster. I Saw the Devil stars Byung-hun Lee (The Good, The Bad, The Weird) and Min-sik Choi (Oldboy). The film opens in theaters and video-on-demand on March 4th.

If you knew how to track down a sadistic serial killer who had offed your fiancé, would you take your time to enact revenge or would you simply murder that person? Would you even bother to turn him in? That’s the basic premise of director Ji-woon Kim’s excellent and disturbing I Saw The Devil, which takes revenge to a sadistic new level and shows the sad results of such actions. Acted with little to no remorse, this gut-wrenching and violent thriller will have you on the edge of your seat for most of the second and third act, with a flourish of an ending that shows some true heart and why the battle between good and evil isn’t always black and white. Last night I covered a special “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” screening at Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. While there I was able to interview tons of people on the red carpet and rather than divide up these three interviews into separate articles, I’m posting all them here, in one place. So after the jump you can see Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) talk about making “G.I. Joe”, screenwriter Stuart Beattie talk about his directorial debut “Tomorrow, When the World Began”, and Marlon Wayans (Ripcord) talk more about Japanese bathrooms and what character he might want to join the “Joe” team in the sequel. Take a look:

With “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” set for release in a little over a week, Paramount has release four clips from the Stephen Sommers movie and they’re after the jump. As I said when I wrote my mini-review, all you need to know is “G.I. Joe” is the cartoon come to life. It’s a pure candy coated popcorn film and if you’re going to the movie theater to have a good time, you’re going to have a lot of fun watching “G.I. Joe”. Just remember, the movie is aimed at kids and it’s designed to sell toys. Watch the clips. You’ll see what I mean.

Paramount has released nine new images from “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and they’re after the jump. While most of the online community has given up hope that “G.I. Joe” could be enjoyable, I’ll admit to wanting to check it out for myself. Also, the film is aimed at kids, so why thirty year old men need to have their panties in a bunch about this film is beyond me. I watched the cartoon when I was a kid. But I don’t need to have “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” shake heaven and Earth for me to be happy. I’m just looking for a fun popcorn film. If I get that, great. Finally, I went to the set of “Joe” last year and left feeling that it could be a lot of fun. We’ll see in a few weeks. Check out the images after the jump.
