Since the film is only a month away, Paramount has released what will presumably be the final major trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness.  If you want your Trek movie epic and deadly serious, then it looks like J.J. Abrams has you covered.  I’m glad this new trailer finally turns the attention to Kirk (Chris Pine) rather than Cumberbatch’s villain.  The trailer also hits home that the Enterprise is going to get destroyed, and when you factor in the destruction it already suffered in Search for Spock and again in Generations, the impact for Into Darkness feels somewhat diminished.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with the character poster for Kirk, and click on the respective links for the posters for Spock, Uhura, and “John Harrison”.  The film also stars Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Alice Eve, and Peter WellerStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th, and in 2D and 3D on May 17th.

CinemaCon: Chris Pine Talks STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, Filming the Bridge Scenes First, and Says He Sees the Film Friday for the First Time

Earlier tonight at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Paramount showed almost twenty minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness to attendees.  If you saw the extended Star Trek preview before The Hobbit a few months ago, you saw part of what they showed tonight.  But while that preview ended with someone trapped in a very bad situation, the footage tonight showed the next few minutes of that sequence, plus an amazing scene in space that took full advantage of 3D.   If you had any doubts about the Trek sequel, everything I saw tonight tells me it’s going to be something special.

Shortly before the presentation started, I spoke to Chris Pine on the red carpet.  He talked about how J.J. Abrams love secrecy and how he does as well, what it was like to spend the first few weeks of filming doing the Bridge scenes, is it finally nice to be able to talk about the movie, and he reveals that he finally sees the finished film this Friday before leaving on the worldwide press tour.  Hit the jump to watch.

New Sneak Peek and Poster for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS

You could always use some more Star Trek Into Darkness marketing in your life, so Paramount has released a new sneak peek as well as a character poster for Spock (Zachary Quinto).  Yesterday, we got a poster for Uhura (Zoe Saldana), and I’m curious to see if the upcoming character posters will be for anyone other than Kirk (Chris Pine) and “John Harrison” (Benedict Cumberbatch).  In the meantime, we can watch Spock bathe in sweet, hot lava.  As for the sneak peek, it’s basically a TV spot, although I don’t know if it will play like any other commercial.  It’s debuted on MTV’s website, so perhaps there might be something longer on the MTV Movie Awards later tonight.

Hit the jump to check out the sneak peek and poster.  The film also stars Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, and Peter WellerStar Trek Into Darkness opens on May 17th.

New Banner for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS [Updated with New Poster]

Since we’ve already been introduced to the new cast of the U.S.S. Enterprise, it looks like the days of giving them their own posters has passed.  Instead, the latest banner re-appropriates parts of a recent poster where the only Starfleet members present are Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and Uhura (Zoe Saldana).  Also, there’s the villain played Benedict Cumberbatch in case you didn’t know Benedict Cumberbatch was in the movie even though he’s dominated the marketing campaign.  I know everybody loves a good villain, but is it too much to show Scotty (Simon Pegg), Bones (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) some marketing love?

Hit the jump to check out the banner.  The film also stars Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, and Alice EveStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th and in 3D and 2D on May 17th. [Update: We've updated the article with a new poster for the film which depicts the Enterprise in great peril.]

24 Hi-Res Images from STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS

Paramount has released 24 hi-res images from Star Trek Into Darkness.  These images come from Paramount’s press site, and going through them one-by-one, I noticed something strange: there’s no Chekov (Anton Yelchin).  Perhaps it’s just an oversight on the studio’s part, but every other member of the Enterprise crew is in at least one photo.  This could be nothing, but if Abrams were to kill off a character, he could possibly get away with Chekov (as opposed to a more popular character like Bones or Scotty).

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, and Alice EveStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th, and 3D and 2D on May 17th.

Seven new images from J.J. AbramsStar Trek Into Darkness have gone online.  There’s nothing too mind-blowing in this batch, but the marketing for the upcoming sequel isn’t going to slow down with only six weeks to go until opening day.  Of course, the demand for that marketing isn’t going to subside either, so this works out for every one.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, Alice Eve, and Benedict CumberbatchStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th and in 2D and 3D on May 17th.

Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, and Chris Pine Shoot ‘Em Up in New STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Images; Plus Earth Hour Event Video

Paramount has released two new action-heavy images from Star Trek Into Darkness featuring Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, and Chris Pine.  When I see Saldana like this—a great actress and gorgeous woman with an undeniable physical presence who stars in two of the moment’s biggest franchises—I feel like she should be an even bigger star.  Like, Highest Paid Actress in Hollywood big*.  Let’s make that happen when Star Trek Into Darkness opens on May 17.

Additionally, we have video from the Star Trek light show that sent London into darkness for Earth Hour, a WWF event that turned out the lights in cities around the world to raise awareness about climate change.  Regardless of your environmental conscience, it is cool to see the Star Trek logo light up the sky (powered by green energy, of course).  Check out the images and video after the jump.

New STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Trailer Leads to New Poster

Earlier today, Paramount released an exciting new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness, and because they’re all about the secrets, they put in a devious little bit of added marketing into one of the shots.  In the UK and Australian versions of the trailer, there’s a bit.ly link to the new poster.  You may have missed it because it’s tiny, in the background, and also behind a scantily clad Alice Eve.  So remember: if someone walks in on you ogling a freeze-frame of some starlet in her underwear, just reply, “I was only looking for a secret URL!  And my pants are off because it’s warm in here!”

Hit the jump to check out the new poster.  The film also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, and Benedict CumberbatchStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th, and 3D and 2D on May 17th.

New International Trailer for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS

Paramount has released a new international trailer for J.J. Abrams’ sequel Star Trek Into Darkness.  It’s got everything we’ve seen in earlier trailers and a lot more.  This time around, we get the action sequences in the presumed order they’ll appear in the full feature which gives us a much better sense of story.  The trailer also shows that Kirk (Chris Pine) is taking things much more seriously than he did in the first film.  There are also plenty of quips from the fantastic supporting cast (and a hot shot of a barely-dressed Alice Eve as a bonus) that show the crew can still keep some levity amidst all the doom and gloom.  Oh, and Benedict Cumberbatch is positively venomous.  This is how you release a new trailer!

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood.  Star Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th, and in 2D and 3D on May 17th.

If you have the Star Trek Into Darkness app, then you were treated to two new images from the film last night.  For those who don’t have the app, the images are online anyway.  Either way, they’re nothing amazing.  No images of Klingons or Benedict Cumberbatch’s character wearing a “Hello, My Name Is” sticker.  They’re just plain old images to keep the hungry Trek masses at bay.

Hit the jump to check out the images and get your Trek fix.  The film also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Zoe Saldana, Peter Weller, John Cho, and Noel Clarke. Star Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th, and opens in 2D and 3D on May 17th.

New Teaser Trailer for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Shows Plenty of Action with a Hint of Humor

A new teaser trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness has gone online and showcases about as much action and wit as you can cram into a runtime of just over a minute. While the first trailer and first teaser seemed to rely on setting up Kirk and John Harrison’s feud, this latest entry is for the most part Kirk/Enterprise-centric. The entire cut is entertaining but the highlight for me has to be Kirk acknowledging his own status as a “pain” to his superiors.

Check out the trailer after the jump. Starring Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Zoe Saldana, Peter Weller, John Cho, and Noel Clarke, Star Trek Into Darkness opens in 3D and IMAX on May 17th.

Making-Of Featurette for STAR TREK: THE VIDEO GAME Shows off New Footage

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any new footage from the upcoming Star Trek: The Video Game, but thankfully a making-of featurette has been released that shows off more of the game.  As executive producer Brian Miller explains in the featurette, the game is co-op with players taking the role of either Kirk or Spock.  Your playing style depends on which character you’re playing.  If you’re Kirk, you tend to go in guns blazing, but if you’re Spock, you’re going to take a stealthier approach.  The fact that you get to do the Vulcan neck-pinch brings a smile to my face.

Hit the jump to check out the featurette.  The game will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on April 23rd.  Click here to pre-order Star Trek: The Video Game.

Back in December, we saw Star Trek Into Darkness‘ villain “John Harrison” (Benedict Cumberbatch) inside a glass prison (or more likely, a forcefield; larger point: no bars) being interrogated by the film’s heroes.  Today, new images from the film have been released, and we see our villain being flanked by security guards.  Last year, audiences learned an important lesson: if your villain gets captured, it was probably part of his plan.  Presumably, “John Harrison” is planning to have Scotty go Hulk and destroy everything.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Alice EveStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th, and 2D and 3D on May 17th.

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled its new covers for director J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel Star Trek Into Darkness via the film’s official app.  Subscribers will get one of two covers: Kirk and Spock, or Kirk and Khan John Harrison.  The film’s official synopsis makes it clear that there’s a strong connection between Chris Pine’s Kirk and Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain character, and these covers reinforce that point as Kirk appears on both.  Cumberbatch looks quite menacing in his stylish jacket alongside Pine’s “laid-back” apparel, while Spock gets saddled with the stuffy coat.

Hit the jump to take a look at the covers.  Star Trek Into Darkness opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 17th.
