Director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers finally hits home video today, and to mark the occasion some pretty great Avengers-related collectibles have gone on sale. eFX Collectibles is releasing three designs of replica posters seen in Captain America: The First Avenger and 10 different Captain America trading cards from The Avengers. The trading cards come in two different versions, one of which is “near-mint” (ie. the version that Agent Coulson had) and the other is the bloodied version that Nick Fury showed to The Avengers in order to assemble the team.
If that wasn’t enough, eFX will also be accepting pre-orders starting October 9th for their first full-scale, screen-accurate movie prop replicas. The Shield is one of my all-time favorite TV series. It’s constantly shocking, emotional, darkly comic, intense, and there isn’t a weak link in the cast. If you’re a fan of Breaking Bad, you should definitely see The Shield. Both feature protagonists who do horrible things, lie to everyone, and then tell the biggest lie to themselves by believing that the evil they do is all in service to their families.

It’s beginning to feel like the release of The Dark Knight Rises should be some sort of national holiday. Nearly every other conversation, news item, or Tweet seems to be in reference to Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman pic, and now we’ve got one more TDKR-related piece of material to add to the pile. Hot Toys has released images of their Bane and Camouflage Tumbler collectibles which are now available for pre-order on Sideshow Collectibles, and they’re pretty darn neat. Both collectibles are 1/6 scale, with the Bane figure coming with the mask, detailed costume, and accesaries including a broken Batman mask. It goes without saying that the Camouflage Tumbler and Bane figures go hand-in-hand.

Amazon is having a crazy deal today on a couple of Universal Picture’s Blu-ray trilogies. The second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones ended in grand fashion this past Sunday, which means we now have to wait over 300 days for new episodes of the addictive fantasy series (long sigh). HBO feels your pain, and they’re giving fans the chance to at least wait comfortably for the next season in a life size replica of the Iron Throne.
