Empire Magazine has posted the next five covers their X-Men: Days of Future Past series.  These covers feature Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and Professor X (James McAvoy).  Quicksilver is the newcomer among these five, and his costume is so, so very bad.  I understand the goggles are because someone who runs really fast wouldn’t be able to see without them because of the wind resistance, but on the other hand, it’s a fictional character and you can do whatever you want.  Also, if that’s how he dresses himself, his eyes are already shot.

Hit the jump to check out the covers, and click here for Part 1, here for Part 3, here for Part 4 and here for Part 5, along with all 25 covers in one image.  The film also stars Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Halle BerryX-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D on May 23rd.

Brief New Footage from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST; First Look at Sentinels Might Be Released on Monday

It’s time for another round of “Teasers for Teasers” with X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it appears we’ll soon be getting our first official look at the Sentinels.  On his Twitter page, director Bryan Singer tweeted “Something BIG is coming Jan 27,” and it doesn’t get much bigger than the giant robots that are tasked with wiping out mutantkind.  Singer previously shared a set photo of a Sentinel, so we’re not in the dark as to their appearance, and hopefully we’ll now get to see them in action.  Additionally, the X-Men Instagram account says “A full day of #XMen surprises is just around the corner” so perhaps we’ll be seeing more than just Sentinels on Monday.

Hit the jump to see some new footage.  The film stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Halle Berry.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D on May 23rd.

New Behind-the-Scenes Images from DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

20th Century Fox has released new behind-the-scenes images from their upcoming 2014 tentpoles Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: Days of Future Past.  The Apes image is just Andy Serkis (who plays Caesar) doing his motion-capture thing.  The real magic will come with the side-by-side comparisons of how his performance aligns with the finished visual effects.  It’s exciting to think that with the advancements in technology, this should look even better than Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  As for X-Men, I no longer care about time-travel or sentinels after looking at this photo. I just want a Magneto/Wolverine 70s buddy-cop TV series.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D on May 23rd and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens in 3D on July 18th.

First Trailer for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for director Bryan Singer‘s sequel/prequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.  The story finds Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) having his consciousness sent back to 1973 in order to help Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and the rest of the X-Men: First Class crew stop the rise of the Sentinels, giant robots programmed to exterminate mutants.  This trailer is extremely similar to the footage they showed at Comic-Con this summer (right down to the Hans Zimmer score), which sent Hall H into a frenzy.  It does an excellent job of conveying the darker tone of the film as well as teasing the spectacle that will be on display, and I really can’t wait to see more.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellan, Patrick StewartPeter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, and Halle Berry.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D May 23, 2014.

12 New Images from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Following yesterday’s teaser for the first trailer, 20th Century Fox has now released twelve new images from Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past.  In the upcoming sequel/prequel, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) has his consciousness sent back to 1973 to help Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and the rest of the X-Men: First Class crew stop the rise of the Sentinels, giant robots programmed to exterminate mutants.  These images don’t give anything away, but I quite like them, especially the one where Xavier and Magneto are continuing to play chess even though their friendship has fractured.  It’s an obvious symbol, but still a nice one considering it’s the constant in their relationship.  And if that doesn’t do anything for you, there’s an image of Jennifer Lawrence being adorable on set.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Omar Sy, and Halle BerryX-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014.

It’s a good day to be a fan of superhero movies.  We just got the first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and now Bryan Singer has released the first footage from X-Men: Days of Future Past. Normally, I’m sour about teasers for trailers, but I’m so excited for people to a glimpse of what was shown at Comic-Con that I’ll make an exception.

Hit the jump to check out the brief footage, and come back on October 29th for the full trailer.  The film also stars Peter Dinklage, Nicholas HoultJennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Omar Sy, and Halle BerryX-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014.

James McAvoy Calls X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST “Potentially the Biggest, Most Epic X-MEN Ever”

Production on the massive X-Men: Days of Future Past has finally come to a close, and director Bryan Singer will spend the next many months in a dark editing room putting the film together.  In his return to the X-Men series, Singer assembled an enormous cast of characters, and hopes are extremely high for the time travel-infused follow-up that blends the casts of X-Men: First Class and the original X-Men films.  James McAvoy recently spoke a bit about his experience making the film, going on to say that it’s potentially “the biggest, most epic X-Men” to be brought to the screen and revealing whether his character has a scene with Patrick Stewart‘s older Professor X.  Hit the jump for more.

There have been plenty of photos from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past, but now an official image has been released.  And that image is…a hallway.  More specifically, it’s a hallway containing Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Beast in human-form (Nicholas Hoult), and Professor X (James McAvoy).  It’s not the most riveting of images (we kind of saw it already in a set photo from director Bryan Singer), but the effects are a long way from finished, so right now, you’ve got characters walking down a hallway.  Enjoy.

James McAvoy to Play Victor Frankenstein Opposite Daniel Radcliffe in FRANKENSTEIN

by     Posted 274 days ago

Fox has finally found its Frankenstein.  While Daniel Radcliffe has been set as Igor for quite some time in 20th Century Fox’s new take on Mary Shelley’s classic Frankenstein, the studio has just now cast the titular scientist.  Deadline reports that James McAvoy will play Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein in director Paul McGuigan’s (Lucky Number Slevin, Sherlock) film, which pits the trustworthy Igor as the protagonist.  Apparently McAvoy won out over other actors like Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) and Toby Kebbell (Wrath of the Titans) who also tested for the role, but he should make for an interesting fit opposite Radcliffe.

Screenwriter Max Landis previously described this new iteration of the classic story as “fun, sad, scary, and moving,” as he wanted to present the definitive story about Igor’s inception.  McAvoy is currently busy filming X-Men: Days of Future Past, but production on Frankenstein should get underway later this year or early next year ahead of the film’s October 17, 2014 release date.

The Past Meets the Future in First Posters for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST [Updated with Hi-Res Versions]

Hands down the best panel I saw at Comic-Con this year was for director Bryan Singer’s ambitious sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Not only did the footage look great, but the Q&A with nearly the entire cast made for a funny, engaging, and earnest conversation.  Singer and many of the actors onstage—including Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, and Patrick Stewart—made the trek to Comic-Con over a decade ago with the first X-Men film, and now they were making a triumphant return the place where it all started.  Everyone onstage seemed genuinely grateful to the fans for embracing them all those years ago, and the panel fittingly ended with a standing ovation.  In celebration of the Comic-Con appearance, Fox has now unveiled a couple of swell posters for the film, which tease the time-travel element of the story as we see the different versions of Professor X (Stewart and James McAvoy) and Magneto (McKellan and Michael Fassbender).

Comic-Con: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Panel Recap; First Footage Revealed and Almost All the X-Men Unite on Stage

Part of me will always love the X-Men.  I watched the animated series when I was in third grade.  I became addicted to collecting the trading cards.  And while some can point to Blade as the beginning of the modern superhero movie, it didn’t truly begin in earnest until Bryan Singer‘s 2000 picture.  It’s not an incredible picture, but it’s satisfying.  The sequel, X2, is one of the best superhero movies ever made.  X-Men: First Class gave the franchise a fresh spark of life, and now it’s all coming together with X-Men: Days of Future Past.  We’ve been wondering if it’s too crowded, but perhaps the question we should be asking is, “Can you have too much of a good thing?”

Hit the jump for my recap of the panel, which included the premiere of the first footage from the movie.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 16, 2014.

By now you probably know that almost the entire cast of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past surprised Comic-Con attendees today.  Just prior to their Hall H appearance, the cast members participated in what might be a Guinness World Record for press conferences.  Attending were director Bryan Singer, writer Simon Kinberg, producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker, plus cast members Evan Peters, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page and Omar Sy.  It was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime event to witness all of that talent on one stage, although fans will be privy to the experience once X-Men: Days of Future Past hits screens May 23, 2014.  Hit the jump for highlights from the press conference.

New International Trailer for FILTH Starring James McAvoy and Jamie Bell

A new international trailer for director Jon S. Baird’ adaptation of the Irvine Welsh crime novel Filth has been released online.  If you want to see James McAvoy doing drugs, having rough sex, and angrily masturbating, then this trailer is for you.  McAvoy stars as Bruce Robertson, the chauvinist cop who is enlisted to solve a murder while also trying to stop his colleagues from taking his much-coveted promotion in the force.  The film’s first red-band trailer made it clear that Baird isn’t holding back from the madness of the novel, and this international trailer seems to amp the craziness up even further.  McAvoy looks to be giving a delightfully deranged performance as Robertson, and it’ll be interesting to see how the full film plays out.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Eddie Marsan, and Jim BroadbentFilth opens in the UK in September and is currently without a US release date.

Director Bryan Singer has been happy to release plenty of set photos from X-Men: Days of Future Past, but that doesn’t mean they won’t come from other sources.  Today, set photos have leaked of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender walking to set in their 1970s threads.  We can also Peter Dinklage in a business suit, which, coupled with Tuesday’s set photo from Singer, almost confirms that he’s playing Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels.  It’s also worth noting that Fassbender’s costumes shows he won’t be in full Magneto regalia throughout the movie.  He can wear a scarf and sideburns with the best of ‘em.
