Trailer for A GOOD OLD FASHIONED ORGY Starring Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte

by     Posted 2 years, 270 days ago

The trailer for writers/directors Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck’s comedy A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is now available online. Starring Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, Lucy Punch, Leslie Bibb, Lindsay Sloane, Tyler Labine, and Lake Bell, the film tells the story of a 30 year-old man/child (Sudeikis) who decides to throw one last bash at the Hampton residence his parents are on the verge of selling. Judging from the trailer, the pic almost looks like an uninterrupted barrage of partying and general immaturity. In short, I’m looking forward to it. That said, I can’t help but wonder how I can get my hands on one of those “Labor Day Orgy” t-shirts.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer. A Good Old Fashioned Orgy opens to select theaters this September 2nd.

Rob Corddry. Lake Bell. Rob Huebel. Malin Akerman. Megan Mullally. Henry Winkler. Erinn Hayes. Ken Marino. If you’re a fan of comedy, chances are you’re a fan of more than a few of these people. So what happens when you squeeze all these personalities, plus notable guest appearances by Paul Scheer, Adam Scott, David Wain, and more, into 11 minute episodes parodying medical dramas? Childrens Hospital, a sporadically hilarious, consistently goofy satire that’s worth your time, if only for its brisk run time. Katie Aselton to Direct and Star in BLACK ROCK Alongside Kate Bosworth and Lake Bell

by     Posted 2 years, 341 days ago

Actress Katie Aselton is set to direct and star in the thriller Black Rock. Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth have signed on to co-star in the film which was conceived by Aselton and written by Mark Duplass (Cyrus). The story centers on “three childhood friends who embark on a weekend getaway to the isolated island of Black Rock, only to discover that they are not alone.” While that may sound like your standard thriller, with indie-staple Duplass writing the screenplay you can pretty much bet on it being something wholly original.

As an actress, Aselton has worked on FX’s The League and appears in the upcoming Paul Rudd indie comedy Our Idiot Brother. Submarine is handling U.S. and international sales at Cannes, with a portion of the film’s funding being crowd-sourced through Kickstarter. Hit the jump to read the full press release.

Sony Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films have picked up the distribution rights to A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.  According to Variety, the story–co-directed by Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory (Frasier)–centers on “a group of 30-somethings who spend every summer weekend throwing elaborate theme parties and eventually throw one final bash – an orgy.”  The comedy will star Saturday Night Live‘s Jason Sudeikis who’s poised to have a breakout year.  He’ll next be seen in theater in the comedy Hall Pass and again later this year alongside Jason Bateman and Charlie Day in Horrible Bosses.  Sony and Goldwyn plan to release Orgy in late summer.

No Strings Attached is the blandest of romantic comedies and only attempts to give itself an edge through a half-assed attempt at raunchy humor and salty language.  It sets up situational comedy that would feel stale in a 1980s sitcom and populates these unfunny scenarios with people who feel designed to serve the purpose of a bit rather than actual human beings who stumbled into a comedic situation.  The only truly funny thing about No Strings Attached is how proud it is of its reversal of gender roles, which would be a feat worth applauding if the film had come out in the 1950s.  Devoid of chemistry and humor, No Strings Attached is a romantic comedy that lacks both romance and comedy.

SDCC 2010: CHILDRENS’ HOSPITAL Interviews with Rob Corddry, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, David Wain, and Nick Kroll

by     Posted 3 years, 269 days ago

Today I had the privilege of participating in a roundtable with the creators and cast of Adult Swim’s Childrens’ Hospital. Initially a web series on, the hilariously over-the-top primetime drama parody is crossing platforms, and will premiere its second season on Adult Swim on August 22nd. Members of the show participating in the interview included: creator Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine), Lake Bell (It’s Complicated), Erinn Hayes (Parenthood), Paul Scheer (Human Giant), Rob Huebel (The Other Guys), Nick Kroll (Get Him to the Greek), and writer/director David Wain (Role Models).

It probably goes without saying, given the comedic talents of those involved, but the roundtable was a very light, very funny place for the amount of time we were given. Hit the jump for a bulleted breakdown of some of the highlights.

The Rob Corddry Web Series CHILDRENS HOSPITAL Is Coming to Adult Swim July 11

by     Posted 3 years, 331 days ago

As the outrageous twists of medical soaps like Grey’s Anatomy and House are ripe for parody, Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine) took it upon himself to create Childrens Hospital for, a web series which sends up the silly doctor dramas with an all-star cast.  Adult Swim took notice, and in a rare live-action effort, ordered an adaptation of the web series for their late night programming.  In addition to Corddry, the regular cast includes Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler.  On top of that, such notables as  Ed Begley Jr., Lizzy Caplan, John Cho, Paul Scheer, and David Wain are all slated for guest spots.

Childrens Hospital premieres July 11 at 10:30 on Adult Swim.  Check out the press release, and the first episode of the web series, after the jump.

Ashley Greene, Hayden Panettiere, Lake Bell, and Rory Culkin in Talks to Join SCREAM 4

by     Posted 3 years, 332 days ago

With Scream 4 set to open next year on April 15, 2011, Dimension Studios has begun looking for fresh new faces to join the horror movie franchise.  The studio is currently in talks with Ashley Greene (Twilight), Hayden Panettiere (Heroes), Lake Bell (It’s Complicated), and Rory Culkin (Mean Creek) to join returning cast members Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox in the film.  Heat Vision reports that if the deals are made, Green would be playing Campbell’s cousin in the film named Jill with Culkin being cast as her potential love interest.  Panettiere would be playing a nerdy film geek who is her best friend.  Meanwhile, Bell will be playing a police officer who knew Sidney (Campbell) from high school.

The story is still unknown due to secrecy but the plan is for the film to “be seen as a passing of the baton to a new generation of slasher victims.”  This makes sense since Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven, who kicked off the series as writer and director, respectively, will resume their respective roles for this latest installment.  Filming is expected to begin in July.  Here’s the first poster if you missed it.

For men, cinema offers escapism to a degree unparalleled in cinematic history. All these comic-book films, so much of the big summer movies are about living out male fantasies. Cinema used to be the province of women, so there’s something somewhat refreshing – if just as vacuous – about a film like It’s Complicated. A Kick-Ass for the menopause set, it offers Meryl Streep as a divorcee courted by her ex-husband (Alec Baldwin) and a successful architect (Steve Martin). Everyone in the film is filthy rich, and all they have to worry about it is finding love again. My review of the Blu-ray of It’s Complicated after the jump.

Woodbine, Jason, Bean, and Woll Are Planning a LITTLE MURDER

by     Posted 4 years, 233 days ago

I can’t tell how refreshing it is to know that “Little Murder” is a B-movie (which is putting it charitably).  There is no other way to define it.  Yes, Josh Lucas, Terrence Howard, and Lake Bell are leading the project but…no.  It ain’t happening.  But when you throw Peter Jason, Noah Bean, Deborah Ann Woll, and Bokeem Woodbine into the mix, you got a pretty fun thing going with the post-Katrina supernatural thriller, “Little Murder”.  Find out how you make tiny kills in a B-movie after the jump.
