It’s a reunion of sorts for the two leads of CBS’ Two and a Half Men today as a pair of new posters have hit the web. Ashton Kutcher takes on the life of innovator Steve Jobs later this summer in the biopic Jobs, and now Open Road Films has debuted the stylish first poster for the film. The one-sheet harkens back to the old color scheme of Apple, as a bearded Kutcher makes up the entirety of the poster. The first trailer for the film was a bit all over the place and Kutcher still seems like an odd casting choice, but I’m interested to see how audiences react to the film. Personally, I have much higher hopes for Aaron Sorkin’s own Steve Jobs biopic over at Sony. Jobs opens on August 16th.
Additionally, a new character poster for Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills has been unveiled, this time introducing Carols Estevez as “The President.” Carlos Estevez is, of course, Charlie Sheen’s real name, but it appears that Rodriguez is having some fun with the marketing of the upcoming grindhouse pic. The film’s massive cast also includes Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Lady Gaga, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Mel Gibson. Machete Kills opens on October 4th. Hit the jump to check out both posters.
Robert Rodriguez was set to deliver a one-two punch this fall with Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, but now both movies have been pushed back. Sin City was knocked all the way to August 22, 2014, and now Machete Kills has received a significantly shorter date change. Originally set for September 13th, Open Road Films will now release Machete Kills on October 4th against Alfonso Cuaron‘s sci-fi drama, Gravity. Open Road has also decided to move the action film Homefront from October 4th to November 27th. Written by Sylvester Stallone, Homefront stars Jason Statham as an ex-DEA agent who moves his family to a small town in hopes of a quieter life. Instead, he runs afoul of a meth-pushing kingpin by the name of Gator (James Franco). Homefront will share the weekend with Kasi Lemmons‘ Black Nativity and Disney’s animated film, Frozen.
In other release date news, Universal has scheduled Joe Carnahan‘s comic thriller Stretch for March 21, 2014. Patrick Wilson stars as a down-on-his-luck chauffeur looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back. The film also stars Chris Pine, Ed Helms, and Brooklyn Decker. The movie will have serious competition that weekend against Muppets Most Wanted and Divergent.
We’ve got a few new posters to share today. Briefly:
- Machete Kills – A new character poster for director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel shows off Sofia Vergara and her unique set of weaponry. The film opens on September 13th.
- The Butler – The first poster for director Lee Daniels’ historical drama highlight’s the film’s impressive ensemble cast, led by Forrest Whitaker. The film opens on October 18th.

Yesterday, we saw the first trailer for Machete Kills, and today, a new character poster has been released featuring Michelle Rodriguez as “Shé”, the taco-truck operator/revolutionary who becomes a one-eyed avenger. Along with Danny Trejo (Machete) and Jessica Alba (Sartana Rivera), Rodriguez is the only returning cast member from the first movie. The cast for the sequel is filled with new faces including Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson. I’m sure each of them will get a character poster, which is great for everyone who has been hungering for a Cuba Gooding Jr. poster.

Open Road Films has released the first trailer for director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. This trailer was released on Yahoo!’s Spanish-language site, but the dialogue is in English. It looks like fun, but so did Machete, which made Trejo a supporting character in his own movie. A large cast is fun, but Rodriguez always seems to have trouble finding the right balance (he had the same problem with Once Upon a Time in Mexico). Hopefully, Machete Kills will be an improvement on the first film. [Update: We've added the English-language version, which is the same except now English-language speakers can understand the narration]
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson. Machete Kills opens September 13th.
Robert Rodriguez has no problem blending sex with violence. He replaced one of Rose McGowan‘s legs with a gun in Planet Terror, and now he’s strapped a pair of firearms to the breasts of Sofia Vergara in Machete Kills. The flick is the second in a planned trilogy (the third film supposedly takes place in space), and centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. Hopefully, Rodriguez won’t make the mistake of the first film by relegating Machete into a supporting role in his own movie, but judging by the number of stars, it looks like that’s exactly what will happen.
Hit the jump to check out the titillating poster, and click here for what Vergara recently had to say about her role. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson. Machete Kills opens September 13th.
Sofía Vergara is part of the colorful cast of Escape from Planet Earth, the animated feature directed by Cal Brunker opening in theater this Friday and featuring the voices of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Brendan Fraser, George Lopez, Craig Robinson and Rob Corddry. The film follows the comedic misadventures of friendly aliens on Planet Baab who find themselves trapped by evil forces on the distant “Dark Planet” after they respond to an interplanetary call for help.
At a roundtable interview at the film’s press day last week, Vergara talked about her character, Gabby Babblebrock, the hot and spicy anchor for BNN News. She discussed why she accepted the fun role on short notice, how the recording experience compared to her previous work in Happy Feet Two and The Smurfs, why she wasn’t surprised by the film’s large Latino cast, what she likes best about shooting Modern Family, how she finds time to keep up with her large Twitter following, indulging in beignets at Café du Monde in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the recent Super Bowl, and starring opposite Danny Trejo in the upcoming Machete Kills. Director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills now has a release date, as the continued adventures of the titular Machete will commence on September 13th of this year. The pic is the second in a planned trilogy (the third film supposedly takes place in space) and centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. On the September release date, the pic will open opposite the dancing film Battle of the Year and the Aaron Eckhart-led action horror adaptation I, Frankenstein.

Alexa Vega goes from Spy Kid to Killjoy in her latest picture, Machete Kills. The sequel, directed by Robert Rodriguez, features the return of the titular ex-Federale (Danny Trejo) as he attempts to stop a gang of arms-dealing terrorists. Vega’s character, Killjoy, is a hitwoman she describes as “a bodyguard of a whorehoues.” Vega recently talked at length about her character and embracing her sexuality. We got our first glimpse of Vega in this black-and-white image from the picture that proved the starlet had grown up. Now, we have a new full-color image of Vega as Killjoy that’s even more revealing.
Machete Kills, also starring Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson, opens next year. Hit the jump to check out Vega’s new look.
A double-barrel of good news on the Machete Kills front, as the Robert Rodriguez-directed and Danny Trejo-starring sequel has been picked up for North American distribution in 2013 by Open Road Films and has released its first official image! The second installment in a planned trilogy features Trejo as the former Mexican federale out to stop a madman and a billionaire arms dealer from unleashing war across the globe.
The crazy cast which crowds Trejo out of his screen time features Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson. Hit the jump to check out the first image of Machete Kills. Mr. Machete, what are you doing to Miss San Antonio?
The career paths of child stars can either end up as inspiring success stories or engrossing train wrecks. There appears to be no rhyme or reason as to how an individual will handle the fame as they mature, but Alexa Vega (Spy Kids) seems ready to complete her transition into adulthood. After having recently turned 24, Vega is far from adolescence, but is just now preparing to take on a role that centers on her sexuality. Starring as KillJoy in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills, Vega surprised her fans and co-workers alike with how far her new character is willing to go. Hit the jump to see what she had to say about her risque role and embracing her sexuality.
Here’s a new batch of posters to complement the ones we posted earlier today:

Filming is currently underway on Robert Rodriguez‘ Machete Kills, and the TV show Extra got to visit the set. They sat down with the director, and one of the film’s many stars, Mel Gibson. Gibson plays the movie’s villain, a dangerous arms dealer who is threatening the U.S. with nuclear attacks. In the fluff-piece interview with Extra, Gibson said he only spent a week filming his entire role, and his character is “an evil genius, kind of like a Bond villain, but also a gourmet chef.”
The large cast also added yet another actor with the talented William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption) tweeting an image of the poster for his character, Sheriff Doakes. Hit the jump to check out the set video and poster. The film also stars Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Edward James Olmos, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Michelle Rodriguez, Lady Gaga, Alexa Vega, and Charlie Sheen.
Robert Rodriguez is finally getting to two projects this summer that he’s long-promised were on the way: Machete Kills and Sin City 2. He’s been filming the Machete follow-up first, and today he revealed a piece of casting in grand fashion by tweeting a character poster for a woman named Le Chameleon, played by Lady Gaga. Rodriguez’s full tweet reads like this:
I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills , she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!
The sequel finds the titular star, an ex-Federale played by Danny Trejo, receiving a request from the President himself to take down a dangerous drug lord who is threatening the U.S. with nuclear attacks (obviously). The eclectic, and quite possibly volatile, cast includes Jessica Alba, Edward James Olmos, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, and Charlie Sheen. Yep, Lady Gaga fits right in. Hit the jump to take a gander at her poster, and also to get a look at Spy Kids star Alexa Vega, um, in character for Machete Kills. Warning: she’s very, very grown-up now.
