Writer/director Wes Anderson has a close relationship with the wonderful folks at the Criterion Collection, and now one of his films that previously got the Criterion DVD treatment has finally gotten the Blu-ray upgrade. When The Royal Tenenbaums opened in 2001, it marked Anderson’s first major film as a “known” director. He burst onto the scene with 1996’s Bottle Rocket, but it was Rushmore that really launched his career. As such, The Royal Tenenbaums came with some pretty lofty expectations. Anderson honed the script with his partner Owen Wilson and went about assembling a truly remarkable ensemble cast. The results are kind of a mixed bag of humor, drama, and wit, but the film works more often than it doesn’t.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the film follows Vaughn and Wilson as two out-of-touch and out-of-work salesmen who attempt to reinvent themselves by taking an internship at a major tech company. With Moonrise Kingdom still in theaters, quirky director Wes Anderson is already putting together a dream cast for his next film. The as-of-yet-untitled picture would feature an ensemble that could include Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Angela Lansbury. Murray and Norton currently star in Moonrise Kingdom, while Wilson is a regular in the director’s films. Depp, Law and Lansbury would all be first time additions to an Anderson picture. Brody starred in The Darjeeling Limited and Dafoe previously voiced a character in Anderson’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Details, via Twitch, are short at the moment and it’s unclear as to what state any of these casting negotiations are currently in. We will update as more news becomes available.

More casting additions for you today. Here they are in brief:
- Stephen Moyer (True Blood) is set to join director Atom Egoyan’s Devil’s Knot, a feature starring Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon based on the true life tale of the West Memphis Three.
- Rose Byrne (X-Men: First Class) will star in Shawn Levy’s The Internship, which reunites Wedding Crashers comics, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

You’re driving down the street, and it’s suddenly blocked off. You notice these weird yellow signs with nonsensical letters or numbers. There’s unusual glow lighting up a neighborhood you can’t usually see from your house. What you might have here is a film company shooting in your town. It happens a lot, and you never know where they might pop up…until now.
The following is a semi-comprehensive list of films currently shooting, what they’re shooting, and where they’re shooting. We’ll be telling you where you might get to see the very famous, the kinda famous and (if all goes well) the soon-to-be famous. While we can’t list every single movie, television show, or student film in production, you’ll get a pretty good idea of what the heck is going on where all those people are buzzing about. Want to know where in the world are Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Woody Harrelson, and Leonardo DiCaprio? Hit the jump for more.

The film centers on a hooker-turned-Broadway-thesp, played by Larson, and follows the “recurring intersection between these two facets of her life.” Hit the jump for more.

Until Wes Anderson‘s upcoming flick Moonrise Kingdom, Owen Wilson had played a part in all of the director’s feature-length films. While the streak has been broken, their relationship will carry on with Anderson’s next untitled feature. Anderson has now told the Dallas News’ Pop Culture Blog [via The Film Stage] that the movie will be an ensemble piece, he’s written a part for Wilson, and the actor has signed on. The script is halfway finished, but few details are known about the picture. However, Anderson, who’s currently spending some time in Paris, did tell Harper’s BAZAAR [via The Playlist] that “it’s a film I want to make in Europe, a Euro movie.”
Hit the jump for a list of other projects on Wilson’s slate. Moonrise Kingdom stars Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, Jared Gilman, and Kara Hayward. The film opens in limited release this Friday, and will expand wide in the following weeks.
