A couple weeks ago, a couple of deleted scenes from The Amazing Spider-Man went online.  The scenes helped to better understand Peter Parker’s origin and clear up some of the ambiguities of the original film.  Now, with the Blu-ray/DVD set to be released on November 9th, all of the deleted scenes have leaked out.  Most of the deleted scenes focus on Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), so if you were looking for more explanation of the movie’s inconsistencies and plot holes, you won’t find them here.  However, they do make Connors a more sympathetic character, so I can understand why these scenes were shot but later cut.

First Full Trailer and New Images for Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN Starring Daniel Day-Lewis

We posted the first teaser trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln earlier this week in anticipation of the full trailer being released during the Google + Q&A.  Now that the full trailer is online, we finally get a chance to hear Daniel Day-Lewis speak as Abraham Lincoln.  If I’m being honest, his choice of tone and inflection is not exactly what I had expected, but who am I to tell Day-Lewis what to do?  There are plenty of scenes in the legislative houses, on the streets and on the battlefield, and they all give a sense of scope and tone to the film, just like Spielberg said it would during the Q&A.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Oyelowo, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace and Jared HarrisLincoln opens on November 16th. [Update: We added 7 new images after the jump]

The first teaser trailer for director Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln has been released.  The teaser comes just days ahead of the first full trailer and live Google+ Q&A with Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  The teaser gives us our first look at Daniel Day-Lewis in motion, though we only see glimpses of him as the titular President.  There’s also a shot of who appears to be David Oyelowo dressed in Union attire as he turns and walks away from Lincoln.  A narration of the Gettysburg address plays over scenes of Civil War combat, but who is speaking remains unclear for the moment.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, and Jared Harris. Lincoln opens on November 16th.

Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN Gets Release Date

Steven Spielberg‘s Abraham Lincoln movie, Lincoln, has landed a release date.  We previously reported that the film would open after the 2012 Presidential election so to as avoid any accusation that the movie was making a political statement (we’ll let the trailers and other advertising allow pundits to bloviate and fill airtime draw their own conclusions).  Disney has announced that the movie will open in limited engagement on November 9th before expanding nationwide on November 16th.  It’s worth noting that Lincoln will still be fighting vampires, except this time it will be at the box office.  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 also opens on November 16th.

Lincoln stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th President, and the all-star cast also features Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, David Oyelowo, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, and Jared Harris. Director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man is primed for a big Fourth of July weekend opening, but that doesn’t stop him from thinking ahead.  In a recent interview, Webb talked about potential sequels for the superhero film, saying that he departed from canon just enough to allow successive iterations to “withstand…[and] anticipate future storylines.”  Who does Webb think would be a good villain for Spidey in the future?  Well, he does stress that Spider-Man already has an impressive rogues gallery, but also suggested an original villain of his own creation.  You can find out who that would be after the jump.

The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Denis Leary opens July 3rd.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Early Overseas Reviews Mostly Positive

by     Posted: June 20th, 2012 at 3:30 pm

amazing-spider-man-reviews-slice

Early reviews are in for the overseas release of The Amazing Spider-Man and so far they are generally positive.  The common theme seems to be broad support for Andrew Garfield’s performance as Peter Parker, lending a nervier version to the highschooler than Tobey Maguire’s character.  Reviewers also praised Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary and, to an extent, Rhys Ifans for their performances, but decried the narrative for being a bit thin and lacking dimension.  Interestingly, The Amazing Spider-Man is coming across as more of a romantic drama with action elements than an action movie with a love interest thrown in; this observation was taken to the extreme with one reviewer calling it, “the superhero film for the Twilight generation.”  Hit the jump for much more from the early reviews.

Andrew Garfield is set to swing into action in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man when it debuts July 3rd, but how did they make all that web-swinging action come to life?  Sony has released about 25 minutes of B-roll footage that shows the behind-the-scenes workings of the production.  Sure, this clip of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) being all heroic is nice and it’s fun to watch Spidey swing away from pursuing cops with the greatest of ease, but the impressive “making of” footage really shows off the physical demand that was required.  It’s definitely worth a watch for you web-heads who just can’t get enough.  The B-roll also features Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Zylka and some awesome stunt performers.  Hit the jump to check it out.

The Australian trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online, and it contains a few bits of new footage.  The new footage provides a little more humor (I love the gag with Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) tossing Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) out a window) and little more Curt Connors/Lizard (Rhys Ifans).  The reboot is definitely turning into something where the more I see, the more I like, and I just really hope it all comes together.

A day after the 4-minute “super preview” for The Amazing Spider-Man showcased the film’s explosive, high-flying spectacle, we’re being treated to something a bit more intimate. Director Marc Webb, relating his Sony NEX camera-sponsored ”makedotbelieve story,” gives us a little insight into his filmmaking process—the importance of protecting your core notion of what this film is, allowing for inspiration, what it’s like watching words on a page come to life. There’s also plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of Webb interacting with his cast and crew.

Hit the jump to check it out. Prior to catching the third trailer for the film, I was still pretty “meh” on this particular reboot. Since then, it’s been a firm #3 on my list of the year’s need-to-see superhero flicks (prove me wrong, Dredd). The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew GarfieldEmma StoneRhys IfansDenis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.  It opens in 3D on July 3rd.

New Trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

A new trailer for director Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online.  Compared to the first trailer, we get a much better idea of what the plot/driving force for Peter Parker entails, there’s quite a bit more action, and we get some great looks at The Lizard.  Given that the release is a couple of months away, we’re finally starting to see some of the finished visual effects shots come in, and they actually look kind of great.  The webslinging has an edge to it and The Lizard has much more texture.  I like Andrew Garfield a whole lot, and the biggest draw for me here is the character work between Garfield and Emma Stone.  They look to have some great chemistry and Garfield brings out a dickish side of Peter Parker that we didn’t really see in Sam Raimi‘s trilogy.  Overall, I’m pretty encouraged by this new clip and I’m hoping the full film delivers.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  If you missed our interview with Webb regarding his thoughts on the new trailer, the CG for The Lizard, the point of view scenes, the sequel, and a lot more, be sure to check it out.  The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally FieldThe Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3rd.
