It’s amazing how much meat and potatoes AMC’s The Walking Dead has already crammed into the first five episodes of season three, but the best is yet to come. We’ve seen two independent storylines develop so far this season and it looks as if tonight’s episode is going to be the catalyst to set those dramatic arcs on a collision course. It remains to be seen whether Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group or The Governor (David Morrissey) and his town will be left standing.

It’s hard to follow up the perfection that was last week’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead. With the kills, casualties, twists and turns of “Killer Within,” we expected a much more subdued, character-driven episode this week. That’s exactly what we got. I’ll save the spoilers for after the jump, but it’s safe to say that our survivors are busy dealing with the loss of some of their teammates and the addition of others. The contrast between Rick’s prison gang and the Governor’s quaint town of Woodbury is still present and strong, but the line is quickly blurring.

I was completely blown away by how far the fourth episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead decided to go. This was an unbelievable episode that showcased everything the fans have asked for and then some: dramatic character development, incredible tension across the board, plenty of gore to go around and more than its fair share of heartbreak. My only complaint with this brilliant episode is, being this early in the season, how can they hope to top it?

Last week on The Walking Dead, we saw Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the crew deal with a life-threatening injury to one of their own, a prison swarming with Walkers and the arrival of a group of strangers that did not have the best of intentions. We’ll have to wait at least another week to see how they’re doing because tonight’s episode is all about Andrea (Laurie Holden) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). We also get a great introduction to season three’s most anticipated new character and a warm welcome for a character from the past. Last week, we got a a good look at our zombie apocalypse survivors working as a team in the season three premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC. The crew stormed a prison, cleared the grounds of Walkers and prepared to hole up in the secure and defensible cell blocks. Unfortunately, one of their own took a Walker bite to the ankle in the process and the gang found out that they were not the only survivors seeking refuge in the prison. The second episode, “Sick,” picks up right where we left off. After the solid opening episode, the follow-up has managed to ratchet up the tension while satiating the audience’s appetite for Walker (and non-Walker) deaths alike. It’s finally here: the season three premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC (but not on Dish…I promise that’s the last time I’ll say that). The last season found our survivors of the zombie apocalypse holed up at the Greene family barn for the duration, until a host of walkers (and some dramatic deaths) drove them from the land. Tonight’s opener showed us that the long winter has hardened the team into a well-oiled machine, but they’re in dire need of shelter for a very pregnant Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies). Hit the jump to check out our recap and review, plus bonus items like body counts, best kill, best zombie/effect and number of casualties in the season three premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

The hit AMC drama series The Walking Dead returns for season three, with higher stakes, more threatening human villains and, of course, plenty of zombies. When things pick back up, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his fellow survivors continue to seek refuge, this time in an abandoned prison, but soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous, especially considering that Rick’s wife, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), is close to the due date of her pregnancy. Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, the show also stars Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, IronE Singleton, Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira and David Morrissey.
At the show’s press day, co-stars Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies talked about where the relationship between Rick and Lori is at now, the dynamic with their son Carl (Riggs) this season, how different the philosophies are of both Rick and The Governor (Morrissey), and what it was like to shoot the entire opening sequence with no dialogue. Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

The third season of The Walking Dead is drawing near, and fans are starting to get an idea of what’s in store for everyone’s favorite inept zombie apocalypse survivors. Last week two new teaser trailers landed online, and today we’ve got a batch of new images and some quotes from showrunner Glen Mazzara about the new season. Though in previous years TV panels were relegated to Sunday in Hall H at Comic-Con, this year the television shows invaded the 6,000 seater on Friday in a big way. One of the most anticipated panels was for AMC’s The Walking Dead, and Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick hilariously moderated the panel packed with the series’ stars as well as creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Glen Mazzara. Summer is great and all, but it just delays the arrival of the next season of AMC’s epic zombie series, The Walking Dead (though the network is airing a marathon of the first two seasons this July). A new character will join the show when it returns for its third season this fall, a villainous man known as The Governor. We already brought you the first look of another new character, the katana-wielding Michonne (Danai Gurira). And we also brought you the casting news when BAFTA-nominated British actor David Morrissey (State of Play) won the role of the Governor. Now, we’re pleased to share the first look of Morrissey in Governor get-up with you! For those of you unfamiliar with the character from the Robert Kirkman comic series, the Governor leads a small survivor settlement known as Woodbury; needless to say, he and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) don’t see eye to eye. Hit the jump to get a look at the Governor.

Summer is only just kicking off, but there’s plenty of viewers who already can’t wait for the fall, if only for the third season of The Walking Dead to premiere on AMC. Thankfully, though there’s months until we see the premiere, AMC is teasing viewers with a behind-the-scenes featurette of the first episode of the third season, already in production. Words like dark, ominous, harder, faster are all tossed around by cast members like Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus. There’s also hints and mentions of new characters we’ve already heard about including David Morrissey as The Governor and Danai Gurira as Michionne . There will be a great link behind the camera from the second season finale to the third season premiere as Ernest R. Dickerson is at the helm of both. Anyway, I’ll let the featurette talk about the rest after the jump.

On February 12th, the hit zombie series The Walking Dead returns to AMC. Picking up just where the last episode and big reveal left off, that huge event rocks all of the characters to their core, leading some of them down surprising paths in the last six episodes of Season 2. As some characters get closer, divisions arise and the gang will have to face a new human threat that’s as scary as the ever-present zombies.
While at the TCA Winter Press Tour, co-stars Melissa McBride, Norman Reedus and Steven Yeun talked about the aftermath of what happened at the barn, how difficult it was to lose a cast member that they thought of as family, that the second half of the season will have a lot more action, the challenge of working in 120 degrees with bugs and zombie guts while wearing the same clothes they’ve had on for three weeks, and how they worry about each script being their last, with the constant danger that their characters are in. Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.
