Warner Bros. has released a ton of new images from director Sylvain White’s The Losers, which stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoë Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Oscar Jaenada and Jason Patric. The reason the images were released today is the press junket is this weekend in Los Angeles, which means we’re also going to get a lot of clips from the film soon.
I’m catching a screening tonight and interviewing the cast this weekend, so expect a lot of Losers coverage in the coming days. If I can, look for a tweet reaction after the screening tonight. Until then, hit the jump to check out 36 high resolution images from the film:
A few days ago, I attended WonderCon in San Francisco and was able to interview Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the Warner Bros. red carpet, as he was there to promote The Losers. During the interview he talks about his reaction to seeing the movie, being at WonderCon/Comic-Con, and the set visit I did for The Losers. Also, you can see how cool JDM is by the way he ignores a publicist saying we had to wrap up the interview.
While I’ve interviewed many actors, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is definitely one of the most grounded and friendliest in Hollywood. Trust me, they’re not all like him. Hit the jump to watch the interview and look for more on The Losers soon:
At this weekend’s WonderCon in San Francisco, I was able to speak with director Sylvain White as he was there to promote The Losers – along with the cast of the film. During the interview he told me he literally just finished the film, we talked about what will be on the DVD, Losers sequel talk, Pendragon, and he gave me an update on his feature film adaptation of Frank Miller’s Ronin.
If you’re one of those that has been waiting for Ronin to get made, it sounds like he’s going to be going full force on Ronin now that The Losers has wrapped. Watch what he had to say after the jump. As always, I’ve listed what we talked about by time index:
At this weekend’s WonderCon in San Francisco, I was able to speak with Chris Evans and Columbus Short on the Warner Bros. red carpet, as they were both attending the convention to promote The Losers. Since I did a set visit last year for The Losers, they both remembered me and unlike some red carpet interviews that can be dry and serious, the interview you’re about to watch features a lot of laughter and jokes.
Also, while I REALLY wanted to ask Chris Evans a lot of The First Avenger: Captain America questions, I was asked to keep the focus of the interview on The Losers. Also, I’m sure Evans has been asked by Marvel not to say anything…so I decided to play nice. Sort of. Watch time index 3:43. You’ll see what I mean.
Last September, I got to visit the set of director Sylvain White’s The Losers when the film was being shot in Puerto Rico. While I’ve already posted a number of the on set interviews and my set report, I’ve got a few more interviews and tonight’s is with Columbus Short.
In The Losers, Short plays Pooch and he’s the family man with the witty and sarcastic responses. Basically, he gets to deliver all the cool one-liners. While on set, he talked about his character, making the film, the action, the comic it’s based on, filming in Puerto Rico, and a lot more. Warner Bros. has released another poster for The Losers. While the studio released 6 character posters yesterday morning, the new one has the entire cast on one poster with the tag line “anyone else would be dead by now.” The other thing that’s different is it’s a wide poster…like a two sheet. It’s the kind of poster studios hang in subway tunnels and it looks pretty cool.
As you might have noticed, the past two days have been filled with The Losers coverage on the site. If you missed some of the previous articles:

You want to know why Chris Evans is always going to be cool in my book? Because when I was on the set of The Losers in Puerto Rico last June, when it was incredibly hot and humid, Evans had the five online journalists in attendance come into his trailer to do his interview, as he had air conditioning and was willing to share it. Trust me, I’ve done a lot of on set interviews in some sketchy areas, and no other actor has ever opened his door like Chris Evans.
Anyway, during our extended interview with Evans, he talked about how he plays a computer expert named Jensen and if he’s anything like him, did he debate playing another comic book based character, 80′s movies, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, his career, Fantastic Four, and so much more. It’s a great interview so take a look:
If you’re a fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in comic book movies and nervous that after playing the Edward Blake / The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and Clay in director Sylvain White’s The Losers he might stay away from another comic book role, you don’t have to worry, as Morgan says, “I’m happy to be in this world. I’m loving it. I love this. I could do comic book movies forever.”
He told me that – along with a few other online journalists – when I saw on the set of The Losers last June in Puerto Rico. While Morgan was in almost every scene that day and was also busy preparing for other scenes, he could not have been nicer on set as he came back over to us four different times as he kept getting pulled away for filming. Trust me, most actors would come over once…maybe twice. But no one comes back four times.
During our extended interview Morgan talked about everything: from who he plays in The Losers to how he saved a dog in Puerto Rico. Did I mention how awesome Morgan is? If you’re a fan of his work or just curious about The Losers, you’ll love the interview. Read or listen to it after the jump:
As Nyota Uhura in J.J. Abrams Star Trek, and Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar, Zoe Saldana had a good 2009. But now that we’re in 2010, it’s time for Saldana to show what else she can do and that’s be an action star in director Sylvain White’s The Losers. While her character Aisha is somewhat mysterious, the synopsis calls her, “a beautiful operative with her own agenda.” I’d say that’s pretty accurate.
Anyway, last June I was on the set of The Losers when the film was in Puerto Rico and I got to speak with Saldana with a few other online journalists. We talked about the physicality of the shoot, who her character really is, she talked about what we saw filming that day, and since it was back in June of 2009…we talked about Avatar day. Read or listen to the interview after the jump:
Back in September of 2009, I was invited – along with four other online journalists – to the set of director Sylvain White’s The Losers when the movie was being shot in hot and humid Puerto Rico. While extreme heat and humidity can play havoc with a film shoot, when we got to speak with White, he was still excited and really enthusiastic about how things had been going. During our interview we talked about how he came to the project, why he wanted The Losers to be PG-13 and not R, how he tried to take elements of the graphic novel for the movie, how Peter Berg did the script, and a lot more. It’s a really good and informative interview so read or listen to it after the jump:
Back in September of 2009, I was invited – along with four other online journalists – to the set of director Sylvain White’s The Losers when the movie was being shot in hot and humid Puerto Rico. While I’ve covered many movies while working for Collider, this was the first time visiting a movie set could actually cost me a lot of money. The reason? The location was a secure Port that was guarded by Homeland Security. Each of us had to wear a special badge given to us by the government and we were warned if we lost it…we’d have to pay $10,000 dollars. Needless to say, I watched my badge like a hawk.
If you haven’t heard of The Losers, the movie stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoë Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Óscar Jaenada, and Jason Patric and it’s written by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt. The film is based on the Vertigo comic series by Andy Diggle and Jock.
While I hate making comparisons, The Losers reminds me a lot of The A-Team, except rather than helping those who can’t help themselves, The Losers are out to clear their names and get revenge on the one who betrayed them. Simply put…it’s an action thriller that should be a lot of fun.
Hit the jump for what we did on set and you can also take a look at 6 brand new character posters of the cast:
The Losers don’t hit the big screen until April 23 but we’ve got some brand new images from the film. Directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) and starring Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Idris Elba (The Wire) and Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), The Losers is based on the 2003 comic book. It’s a bullet flying, heist/revenge film that follows a group of American soldiers who were left for dead and now must challenge the government to regain their identities.
The trailer gives the movie a very fun, action, comic book feel which is well in-line with the vibe of the comic. That comic, written by Andy Diggle with art by Jock, reads more like a series of storyboards for a kick ass action film than a comic book. Diggle himself has said he wrote the film as a love letter to the movies of screenwriter Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, etc.) Hit the jump to check out more the images:
Warner Bros. has released the final poster for director Sylvain White’s The Losers and you can check it out after the jump. Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book series, the film was written by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt and it stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) as Clay; Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek) as Aisha; Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) as Jensen; Idris Elba (The Wire) as Roque; Columbus Short (Quarantine) as Pooch; Oscar Jaeneda (Che: Part Two) as Cougar; and Jason Patric (My Sister’s Keeper) as Max.
I did a set visit for The Losers last year and my report and on set interviews will be getting posted later this month. Until then, check out the poster and the full synopsis:
The Losers hasn’t even released yet (April 23, 2010), but director Sylvain White has already lined up his next project and it appears he is preparing to go medieval, according to the LA Times. The film, misleadingly titled Pendragon (nothing to do with dragons), is written by newcomers Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, and focuses on the origin story of the famous Knights of the Round Table. White is currently negotiating to board the project, setup at New Regency, and it would mark yet another movie in the fabled King Arthur lore.

Through the power of black magic, an all new The Losers TV spot has been unleashed upon the world. Watching the spot makes me wonder when some brainy studio executive will finally decide to make some easy cash off of an A-Team remake (excuse my sarcasm). In other visual marketing related movie news, a shiny new poster for the Jude Law and Forest Whitaker led Repo Men was unveiled today as well. Some medical company needs to start slinging artificial livers already. Seriously. View both, after the jump.
