Disney’s new animated series, TRON: Uprising, released a new trailer in preparation for its launch date this June.  Earlier this month, we brought you a new poster and some footage, along with a TV spot and a new image.  The new trailer, however, gives us a better sense of the conflict in the world and what the characters’ roles are within it.  The animation reminds me a bit of the style of Peter Chung (Aeon Flux, Reign: The Conqueror); make of that what you will since it’s not exactly for everyone.  TRON: Uprising features the voices of Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens, Reginald VelJohnson and Bruce Boxleitner and debuts June 7th. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer. [Update: Disney XD has announced when you can see a special prelude to the series.  More after the jump.]

New TV Spot and Image from the Animated Series TRON: UPRISING

Last week, we showed you a poster and some brief footage from the upcoming animated TV series, TRON: Uprising, and now a new TV spot and image have gone online.  The series takes place between 1982′s TRON and 2010′s TRON: Legacy.  In the animated series, the protagonist, a program named Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), starts an uprising (the title isn’t misleading!) in the fight against Clu and his second-in-command, General Tesler (Lance Henriksen).  Beck was previously trained to fight by Tron (Bruce Boxleitner), but then Tron disappeared.

TRON: Uprising will have to carry the TRON brand while Disney mulls giving the greenlight to TRON 3, but I don’t know how interesting the series can be since Beck’s “uprising” clearly didn’t do much to stop Clu.  Then again, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is ridiculously popular, and everyone knows how that story ends.  TRON obviously has a lot more work to do to build up that kind of audience, but at least there’s a precedent.  Hit the jump to check out the TV spot and image.  The show also features the voices of Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, and Reginald VelJohnson. TRON: Uprising premieres on Disney XD in June.

If you’ve been wondering what’s the status of Tron: Uprising, you’ll be happy to learn the show premieres this June on Disney XD.  Featuring the voices of Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen, and Bruce Boxleitner, Tron: Uprising covers the events between the original TRON and Tron: Legacy.  The series is directed and executive produced by Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack) with Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (the writers of Tron: Legacy) acting as consulting producers.

With the show premiering soon, a poster and some new footage has hit the net and it features our first real look at the series.  If you thought Tron: Uprising was going to look like the first trailer, you might be a bit disappointed.  But as someone that loves the world of Tron and is still hoping for another sequel, I can’t wait to watch the series.  Hit the jump for more.

New Details on Disney XD’s TRON: UPRISING and ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN Animated Series

When the Walt Disney Company and Marvel announced their joint partnership a few years ago, both sides knew that there were some incredible creative opportunities and a whole lot of coin to be made in the years ahead. That more or less sums up what the Disney Channels’ President and Chief Creative Officer Gary Marsh said during a presentation at TCA. While I’m paraphrasing, of course, Marsh did go on to announce the next step in their partnership: a block of Marvel-themed series on Disney XD which will be called Marvel Universe, featuring a new collaboration, Ultimate Spider-Man. The new iteration will be the first time that Spidey, voiced by Drake Bell (Superhero Movie), won’t be going it along, as he’ll be joined by White Tiger, Iron Fist, Power Man and Nova, all of Nick Fury’s S.H.I.E.L.D. While that’s good news for fans of the web-head, Marsh also talked about the premiere of their anticipated animated series, TRON: Uprising. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Watch the Comic-Con Footage for Disney XD’s Animated Series TRON: UPRISING

I liked Tron: Legacy more than most of you, but I understand the complaints.  I hope that Disney XD’s new animated series Tron: Uprising is a source of redemption, much like Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars rose from the ashes of disappointment in the prequels.  After all, few worlds are better suited for animation than the Grid.

Disney XD premiered new footage at Comic-Con last week, and posted the clip online today.  As expected, it looks pretty darn cool.  Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen, and Bruce Boxleitner provide voices for the series.  Watch the new clip after the break.

In Elektra Luxx, the follow-up to writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez’s 2009 film Women in Trouble, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui plays Bambi, a sexy stripper who has gone on a getaway trip to Mexico with her best friend, Holly Rocket (Adrianne Palicki). While away, porn star Holly Rocket decides to finally get up the courage to tell Bambi how she really feels about her, truly shocking the unexpecting Bambi.

At the film’s press day, Emmanuelle Chriqui did this exclusive interview with Collider, where she talked about revisiting this character, how much she has enjoyed working with Adrianne Palicki, and how Sebastian Gutierrez is great to work with because he just innately understands her, as a person. She also talked about voicing a character on the ThunderCats reboot on Cartoon Network (update: we’ve spoken to the studio and confirmed it’s Cheetara) and the Tron: Uprising animated series (set to air on Disney XD in the summer of 2012, with a preview on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Tron: Legacy), her role on the upcoming Showtime series The Borgias, and what she’d like to see happen with her character on the last season of the HBO series Entourage. After TRON: Legacy landed with a thud, I’ve found it difficult to care about where the story goes from here.  However, Disney still believes in their black-and-neon franchise and they’re moving forward with the new animated series TRON: Uprising.  The series will air on Disney XD in summer 2012 and cover the events between the original TRON and Legacy.  A teaser trailer for the series has gone online and if you loved TRON: Legacy, then you’ll probably love this too.  It has light cycles and stuff.

More promising is an upcoming remix of TRON: Legacy‘s outstanding score.  Pitchfork reports that Disney will release Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D on April 5th and it will feature M83, Photek, Moby, Com Truise, and others remixing Daft Punk’s score.  The remix soundtrack is available to buy in various special editions on the score’s official website.  Hit the jump to check out the TRON: Uprising trailer and the track list for Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D.

Is Disney Close to Green Lighting a Sequel to TRON: LEGACY?

TRON: Legacy has underperformed at the box office, but Disney may be close to taking viewers back to the Grid anyway.  AICN reports that the film is close crossing $300 million worldwide, which would be fantastic…had the film and its epic marketing campaign been inexpensive.  Harry Knowles reports that TRON: Legacy “is getting close, incredibly close to having its SEQUEL announced.”
