The Dark Knight Rises is quickly approaching and with it comes a marketing blast that features Batman’s (Christian Bale) vulnerability, Catwoman’s (Anne Hathaway) ambiguity and Bane’s (Tom Hardy) destructive rampage.  The latest TV spot chooses to highlight the humor in the film, showing a scene between Bale’s Bruce Wayne and a doctor who rattles off the degree of damage that Mr. Wayne has done to his body.  The dialogue in the scene alone may have elicited some laughs, but the actor who gets a cameo as the doctor really sells it.

The Dark Knight Rises, also starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard, opens July 20th in IMAX.  Hit the jump to check out the new TV spot, along with a clever fan-made poster.

“The choice has to be made: Is Batman going to return?”  The choice was always clear externally after The Dark Knight earned a billion dollars.  The decision is more difficult for Bruce Wayne in the universe of the movies, as Christian Bale points out in a new 13-minute TV special for The Dark Knight Rises.  The featurette covers a lot of ground, enough to prepare you for all 2 hours and 45 minutes of the movie.  In addition to Bale, they talk to co-stars Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as well director Christopher Nolan and other behind-the-scenes crew members.

We have published a lot on The Dark Knight Rises, but this is the single most comprehensive source of information you’re likely to see before the release on July 20.  This is not for those who want to go in fresh, but for the rest of you, hit the jump to watch.

New Trailer for LAWLESS Starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Guy Pearce

A new trailer for director John Hillcoat’s crime drama Lawless has gone online.  Based on the novel The Wettest County in the World, the film stars Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy as two brothers who become bootleggers in the South during Prohibition.  This trailer isn’t as enthralling as the film’s first trailer, but it’s still pretty damn good.  We get a bit more into the plot and see some interactions between LaBeouf and Mia Wasikowska, but Guy Pearce again steals the show.  The film landed on our most anticipated list for the third quarter of 2012, and I’m eager to see how the full story plays out.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer.  The film also stars Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, and Dane DeHaanLawless opens on August 31st.

Though Warner Bros. won’t be bringing Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises to Comic-Con next week, fans certainly aren’t being shafted when it comes to new footage and images.  Yesterday the film’s levitation-enhanced IMAX poster was unveiled, and now a new IMAX TV spot has been released alongside eight new high-resolution images.  As far as I can tell, the TV spot has a few bits of new footage (Christian Bale says the word “Bane!”).  We’ve seen most of these new images in previous trailers and such, but the coolest one is actually of Nolan.  He’s seen etching the Batman logo into the side of a wall with a piece of chalk, which is the image that makes up the cover art for the soundtrack of Hans Zimmer’s score.

Hit the jump to check out the TV spot and the high-resolution images.   The film also stars Tom HardyAnne HathawayGary OldmanMorgan Freeman, Michael CaineMarion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  The Dark Knight Rises opens on July 20th.

With less than three weeks to go until Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises arrives in theaters, Warner Bros. has released a new synopsis.  There’s not much there we didn’t already know, but the previous synopsis was basically a list of all the awesome actors involved without any mention of a plot.  That oversight has now been remedied and it does put a little structure in place.  So if you’ve somehow missed the ongoing barrage of The Dark Knight Rises marketing, you’ll be all caught up by checking out the new synopsis.

The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan Freeman, opens July 20th.  Hit the jump for the new synopsis.

During this year’s MTV Movie Awards, Warner Bros. aired a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises.  In the bizarre mindset of “lets-market-our-movie-but-not-market-our-movie”, the footage appeared online only to be repeatedly pulled down.  So if you missed it, Xfinity has now officially posted the trailer online.  As before and as with other trailers, it’s incredibly heavy on action and foreboding.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan FreemanThe Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th.

In recent updates for The Dark Knight Rises, we’ve memorialized the passing of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), discussed Bruce Wayne’s (Christian Bale) strange absence from Wayne Industries and speculated on what exactly Bane (Tom Hardy) plans to do with that crazy looking weapon.  In this new TV spot for The Dark Knight Rises, we get to see glimpses of levity between Batman and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), proving that the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy isn’t complete mope fest.  As a bonus, a new press release for the European premiere of the film on July 18th counted a particular guest in attendance that may have leaked a character appearance in the new film.

Ever since the second trailer for The Dark Knight Rises hit, fans were left wondering what insidious weapon Bane (Tom Hardy) used to level the Gotham Rogues stadium.  In a newly released image from the movie, Wayne Enterprises itself gives us the answer.  Just yesterday we brought you some viral marketing tidbits for The Dark Knight Rises that not only gave us some insight into the absence of Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) from his business responsibilities, but also clued us into a mysterious R&D project that had been shut down.  This new image seems to jive nicely with that information.

The Dark Knight Rises also stars Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Marion Cotillard. Christopher Nolan’s epic trilogy conclusion opens July 20th in IMAX.  Hit the jump to check out the weapon.

If you “Do the Dew,” you might already know that Mountain Dew has a pretty involved viral site for The Dark Knight Rises. There are plenty of movie-related areas to explore, exclusive items to check out and contests to enter.  The most interesting thing to come out of the site so far is a letter from Wayne Enterprises’ head of R&D, Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), addressed to a reclusive Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale).  In it, Fox expresses his concern over Wayne’s absence, the growing frustration of the board members, a mysterious project that’s sucking up an “astronomical” amount of capital and even drops a name that may be a throwback to Batman: The Animated Series. Hit the jump to read more. [Update: We've added new information to this story.]

If anyone is going to have a reasonable, practical solution to a problem, it’s a politician, am I right?  So it’s no surprise that Gotham City Mayor Anthony Garcia (Nestor Carbonell) has passed a recent piece of legislation known as the Harvey Dent Act, presumably early on in the events of The Dark Knight Rises.  It serves to close the loopholes that allow organized crime to subsist in the city while marking the masked vigilante known as Batman (Christian Bale) as a villainous force who nearly stamped out Gotham’s hope.  It also honors Dent’s sacrifices and establishes a city-wide remembrance on Harvey Dent Day.  Isn’t that nice?
