We’ve seen a number of images from the set of director Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah thus far, giving us peeks at Russell Crowe as the titular hero and Logan Lerman in his period garb, but we’ve yet to see the film’s antagonist, Ray Winstone. That changes today, as the first images of Winstone’s character have landed online. We don’t know much about the role other than it’s that of Noah’s nemesis, but Winstone’s sporting some fairly bloody wounds so it appears that he gets into a skirmish of sorts at some point in the film. Liam Neeson and Liev Schreiber were reportedly considered for the role early on, but I think Winstone will make for a suitable baddie opposite Crowe.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Douglas Booth, Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Durand, Martin Csokas and Mark Margolis. Noah opens March 28, 2014. [Update: More set images have surfaced of Crowe, Booth, and Lerman and are included after the jump]

We have three new clips to share with you today from writer/director/star RZA’s kung-fu epic, The Man with the Iron Fists. First up is Bronze Lion (Cung Le) taking on Madame Blossom (Lucy Liu), followed by a bloody introduction to Jack Knife (Russell Crowe) and finally, a clash between the wrought iron fists of the Blacksmith (RZA) and the zinc and copper alloy of Brass Body (David Bautista). The clips do a nice job at showcasing the fighting styles of each of our characters, but also give a glimpse into the overall tone of the film. Part kung-fu cliche and part homage, The Man with the Iron Fists looks to mix in a fair dose of humor alongside the action (if Crowe’s craziness is any indication). The Man with the Iron Fists opens November 2nd. Hit the jump to check out the clips.

If you can’t wait the two weeks to see writer/director/star RZA’s The Man with the Iron Fists, perhaps this animated prequel will suffice for now. Narrated by RZA, the short follows the Blacksmith (RZA) traveling on his path to China and shows that not all of the fighting is confined to Jungle Village. While it’s more of a compilation of concept art than actual animated film, it’s got a great feel to it (similar to Afro Samurai) and even establishes a history between the Blacksmith and one of the other characters from the feature film.
Also starring Lucy Liu, Russell Crowe, Jamie Chung, Cung Le and David Bautista, The Man with the Iron Fists opens November 2nd. Hit the jump to check out the prequel.

Universal has been rolling out character trailers for RZA‘s upcoming kung-fu flick, The Man with the Iron Fists, and two new ones are out today. The first features Russell Crowe‘s character, Jack Knife. I’m still a bit surprised Crowe is in the movie. It looks like a lot of fun, and he rarely does light, breezy genre fare any more. If anything, The Man with the Iron Fists looks like a sillier version of The Quick and the Dead, and I’m all for it. The other trailer shines a light on David Bautista‘s Brass Body, who looks like he’s basically Colossus from X-Men.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars RZA, Cung Le, Byron Mann, Rick Yune, Pam Grier, and Jamie Chung. The Man with the Iron Fists opens November 2nd.

How does one dress for a mass exodus onto a giant wooden ark that will be surrounded by rising flood waters for an indefinite period of time? Why, with homemade t-shirts, head wraps and fashionable boots! At least that’s what the cast of Darren Aronofsky’s Noah was wearing in these recent set photos. The images show off Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson in costume on their way to/from set, along with titular star Russell Crowe short-sleeved and bearded. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out an image of the finished ark here; drafty!

Just yesterday we saw a new trailer for director RZA’s crazy-lookin’ kung fu film The Man with the Iron Fists by way of a character trailer for Cung Le’s Bronze Lion, and today it’s Lucy Liu’s turn. The story follows a group of warriors, assassins, heroes, and villains who unite to take down a clan traitor in order to prevent their own destruction. This trailer centers on Liu’s Madame Blossom character, showing off some impressive fight sequences and a fun tease of the relationship she has with Russell Crowe’s character. The first featurette for the film has also been released, in which RZA talks about his lifelong love of martial arts movies and the impact of producer Quentin Tarantino.
Hit the jump to check out the new trailer and featurette. The film also stars RZA, Byron Mann, Rick Yune, David Bautista, Pam Grier and Jamie Chung. The Man with the Iron Fists opens on November 2nd.

A new trailer from writer/director/star RZA’s kung-fu action flick The Man with the Iron Fists has dropped and it features UFC fighter Cung Le in character as the Bronze Lion. The story follows a group of warriors, assassins, heroes and villains who unite to take down a clan traitor in order to prevent their own destruction. RZA’s directorial debut made my most anticipated list and I’m encouraged by the crazier and crazier footage being released. If you missed the previous red-band trailers, you can get caught up here and here.

Director Tom Hooper’s (The King’s Speech) musical adaptation of Les Miserables is one of my most anticipated films of the fall season, and now four gorgeous characters posters have gone online to tease me even further. The one-sheets show off the fantastic ensemble that Hooper has put together to bring Les Mis to life, with some great visual trickery used to bring out each actor’s eyes. I assume Universal will be relaseing plenty more character posters in the coming weeks, but right now we’ve got Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (Javert), Anne Hathaway (Fantine), and Amanda Seyfried (Cosette).
Hit the jump to check out the posters. The film also stars Samantha Barks, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Helena Bonham Carter. Les Miserables opens on Christmas Day.

Universal Pictures has released 16 stunning posters for RZA’s kung-fu film The Man with the Iron Fists. The film takes place in feudal China and centers on a small village’s weapon-maker who must defend its people. If the movie is half as good as these posters, it will be a success. Their styles ranges from 80s punk flyers, classic art, retro Asian cinema posters, and more. I wouldn’t mind having a couple of these on my wall provided A) I liked the movie; and B) I had any wall space left.
Hit the jump to check out the posters. The film stars RZA, Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Byron Mann, Rick Yune, David Bautista, and Jamie Chung. The Man with the Iron Fists opens November 2nd.

The first trailer for director Allen Hughes’ (The Book of Eli) political thriller Broken City has been released. Mark Wahlberg stars as a private detective who is hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Russell Crowe plays the morally ambiguous politician with plenty of gusto, and there look to be some fun scenes where Crowe and Wahlberg go toe-to-toe. The soundtrack on the trailer is a bit distracting and the January release date isn’t super promising, but this could be a nice little thriller with some interesting performances.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Jeffrey Wright. Broken City opens on January 18th.

A new TV Spot has gone online for Tom Hooper’s adaptation of Les Miserables. Like the trailer, it’s set to Fantine (Anne Hathaway) singing “I Dreamed a Dream”, but this spot features new footage, and all of which looks good. The only curious thing about the trailer, the behind-the-scenes featurette, set photos, official images, and now this TV spot is that none of them have showed Thénardiers (played by Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter). Would Hooper really cut out one of the musical’s most memorable numbers, “Master of the House”?
Hit the jump to check out the TV spot. The film also stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, and Samantha Barks. Les Miserables opens December 25th.

A new trailer for director Tom Hooper’s (The King’s Speech) musical adaptation Les Miserables has been released. At over four-and-a-half minutes long, this behind-the-scenes featurette shows off new footage, video from the set and commentary from the cast and crew regarding the heightened emotional effect of singing live on camera. Rather than the actors trying to match a predetermined meter for their songs, each of them sets their own pace with each and every take. It’s damned effective (I get chills every time I hear Anne Hathaway’s part) and this new trailer will make you want to see the whole film even more.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (Javert), Amanda Seyfried (Cosette), Eddie Redmayne (Marius), Samantha Barks (Éponine), Sacha Baron Cohen (Thénardier), and Helena Bonham Carter (Madame Thénardier). Les Miserables opens on December 25th.

A batch of new images from director RZA’s The Man with the Iron Fists has landed online. Produced by Quentin Tarantino and written by RZA and Eli Roth, the film takes place in feudal China and centers on a small village’s weapon-maker who must defend its peoples. We’ve already seen two trailers that promise some crazy violence, and these images don’t disappoint. I’m eager to see this fairy tale-like genre mash-up not only because of the caliber of talent behind the scenes, but also because of the eclectic cast RZA has gathered onscreen: Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier, David Bautista, and Rick Yune.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Jamie Chung, Cung Le, Daniel Wu, and Byron Mann. The Man with the Iron Fists opens on November 2nd.

Some debut images from a couple of upcoming releases have hit the web. First up, the first two images from director Allen Hughes’ (The Book of Eli) political thriller Broken City highlight stars Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Mark Wahlberg. The story centers on a private detective (Wahlberg) who is hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s (Crowe) wife. Zeta-Jones is onboard as said unfaithful wife, and Wahlberg—who also serves as a producer on the film—compares the pic’s elements of “really strong characters [and] plot points you didn’t see coming” to Roman Polanski’s classic Chinatown. The pic opens on January 18th, 2013.
We’ve also got the first images from the horror film Mama, which was directed by Andres Muschietti based on his own short film. Jessica Chastain and Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau topline the thriller as a couple who take in their neice and nephew after the children mysteriously surface five years after disappearing on the day of their mother’s murder. The supernatural pic comes from producer Guillermo del Toro and also opens on January 18th, 2013. Hit the jump to take a look at the images.

It was a little more than two weeks ago that we brought you the sobering news that Imagine’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series had a go/no-go deadline looming. That deadline has now come and gone and it looks as if Warner Bros. has passed. This comes as yet another setback to the project, which has seen its share of woes: being let go by Universal, several budgetary concerns and difficulty landing a lead. The latest iteration of the script from Akiva Goldsman had Russell Crowe showing an interest if the project were to be greenlit. Sadly, that did not happen at Warner Bros. But there may yet be hope for Roland Deschain and director/producer Ron Howard. Hit the jump for more.
[Update: Deadline reports that Media Rights Capital is in "serious talks" to finance the project, in part because MRC executive Modi Wiczyk is apparently a big fan of the books. The original story follows after the jump.]
