Perhaps best known for directing the Charlize Theron-starrer Monster in 2003, Patty Jenkins has been spending her recent years in the world of television. That’s about to change as Jenkins is lined up to direct Sweetheart, a female assassin picture scripted by Jack Stanley. The Black List script centers on “a heroine trying to escape the murder business, but finds herself right back in the mix after a high school reunion and a one night stand.” Michael Costigan and Jewerl Ross are on board as producers. Jenkins is currently meeting with actresses for the lead, after which the producers will seek financing. Jenkins’ recent accomplishments include directing the pilots for AMC’s The Killing and Betrayal, and was temporarily attached to helm Thor: The Dark World before leaving due to creative differences.
