If you’ve been holding out for a chance to see Event Horizon on the big screen again (or for the first time), this is your lucky day. Director Paul W.S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt are hosting a screening and Q&A for their 1997 sci-fi horror film. The screening will take place this weekend, Sunday December 18th, at the Toronto Underground Cinema. For those of you unfamiliar with Event Horizon, the pic takes place in the year 2047 and centers on a crew made up of Laurence Fishbourne, Jason Isaacs, Joely Richardson, and Sam Neill that sets out to answer a distress signal received from a starship that disappeared seven years prior. Once they encounter the ship, all hell essentially breaks loose.
I don’t remember much about Event Horizon other than the fact that 10-year-old me was emphatically freaked out. If you’re near Toronto and wish to check out the screening at the Toronto Underground Cinema (186 Spadina Ave, Toronto), the Q&A with Paul and Jeremy starts at 7pm with the screening set to follow at 8. The box office opens at 6:30pm and tickets are $10. For a blast from the past, hit the jump to check out the original trailer for the flick.

Scariest/most disturbing movie I have ever seen.
That’s sad. Go watch the Exorcist.
I have seen the Exorcist and it was okay. Not that scary or disturbing. Doesn’t even hold a candle to Event Horizon in that respect.
The only movie that came close to Event Horizon for me was IT. Granted I was like 9 years old when I saw it and these days it is laughable, but it scared the crap out of me the first time.
I have no desire to ever see Event Horizon again.
I’d heard they held back a lot of material from the theatrical release and always wanted to see a director’s cut. Any idea what some of the deletions included?
Might have to make this trip. Anderson’s only good film, but it’s truly a terrifying movie.
Absolutely scared the hell out of me as a kid, especially the ‘Visions of Hell’ sequence which was extensively cut after test screenings. If you think this was just a bad case of the ‘suits’ overreacting, you’ll think differently if you ever get a chance to see some of the behind the scenes stills! Well worth the trip though, I’ve always thought it was their finest work
I saw this movie when I was 18 and high. It freaked me out so bad I had to get up and leave the theatre for a few minutes until my panic attack subsided.
Just say no kids.
LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! HAunted house movie in space. It was basically like a Hellraiser flick. I really loved Neil and Fishburne in it. It is definitely one of the ore disturbing films to be released in this generation.
I was 17 when I first saw this in the theater. Went with some friends, not knowing what the movie was about at all.
Didn’t sleep well for 2 days after.
The stuff they took out is reportedly a blood orgy with people gouging their eyes out and pulling intestines from there body. You see glimpses of it when they show the old crew, i guess it was supposed to be a full scene:(
Attended the Q&A & Screening… Really enjoyed it.
and will never be seen. I will post a link to the videos, when they are done.
I never saw Event Horizon, & always meant to – what a way to see it for the first time. Paul & Jeremy answered lots of questions & I video’d it all (it’s uploading now). All the extra footage that they cut from the movie is GONE
I remember being offered to watch this movie by a crazy uncle when I was 12, but I declined believing the movie was lame. Watched it 14 years later, and I still believe a court should issue a cease and desist letter for Anderson’s crimes against film making arts.
I have watched almost many real good disturbing films, so this was an easy ride for me. However, the movie itself sucks. Just my opinion.

Sorry doesn’t sound very clear.. done on my cell phone.
Enjoy!!
Glenn, you’re an absolute star. Shame re the extra footage though, I guess they did things differently back in 1997!
