Opening this weekend is writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution.   In the series’ fifth installment, we find Milla Jovovich waking up in the heart of the Umbrella Corporation’s most clandestine operations facility.  She continues to hunt those responsible for the deadly T-virus outbreak with the help of both newfound allies and familiar friends.  The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing.  For more on RE5, here’s the trailer25 things to know about the movie from my set visit, some new images, and our Comic-Con panel recap.

The other day I spoke to writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson.  We talked about the action scenes, jump scares, who decides on the title, whether they ever thought about calling it Resident Evil: All Stars, deleted scenes, and more.  In addition, Anderson revealed he’s working on a longer alternate cut for the Blu-ray and we also talked about Resident Evil 6.  Hit the jump to watch.

Paul W.S. Anderson:

  • I tell him it’s the best Resident Evil yet
  • Who decides on the one word name for each film
  • Did they ever think about calling it Resident Evil: All Stars

  1. Paul Anderson doesn’t know Monster Hunter you need to look at the games first before you start writing the script for the film, and Capcom is working on other games going to films with Devil May Cry and also working on Street Fighter TV web series with Joey Ansah helming the project.

  2. i watched this today. i absolutely loved it! it was the best one yet! brilliant intro, good action and cliff hanger ending. i am looking forward to the next one!!

  3. I SO WISH THERE WAS MORE. Slightly weaker in the action & plot areas but incredible depth not seen in the others as fully.

By the way there are some mega-intense trolls around. They have to make up for their pathetic, ignorant lives by trying to bring down a great movie & production team. Keep up the good work.

    Sincerely,
Everyone who’s opinion is worth a damn.

  4. Please for the love of god stop making these movie. You are raping this beloved franchise to death. These movie make the Super Mario movie from the early 90s look like a masterpiece. Who keeps green lighting these disasters?
