Fresh off last night’s debut image unveiling, 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios have released the first trailer for the CG-animated Peanuts. Based on the beloved, iconic characters created by the late Charles Schulz, the film is directed by Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!) and boasts Paul Feig as its producer. While many were (rightfully) wary of a CG iteration of the Peanuts characters, this first teaser is pleasantly surprising. Instead of a smooth, Ice Age-style animation, Peanuts maintains some of the hand-drawn charm of Schulz’s original work. Since the film is over a year from release, this teaser doesn’t give us any hint of the plot (which will delve into Snoopy’s fantasy world), but for now I’m quite pleased with the animation style and cautiously optimistic for the full feature film.

For the first time ever, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang we know and love from Charles Schulz’s timeless “Peanuts” comic strip will be making their big-screen debut; like they’ve never been seen before in a CG-Animated Feature film in 3D.
